El Maiz Tortilleria y Taqueria reviews
12Love the corn tortillas. Will be back again. Friendly staff. Flavorful salsas. They even have spinach and nopales tortillas.
This place has two separate restaurants in one. One side tortillas and tamales and the other side is more of a sit down restaurant. Both are very good. The tamales are very very large and a great value. The Salsa verde has a great consistency with the perfect kick. On the other side I get tacos. Fresh, hot, and flavorful. Order the tripas extra crispy. You won't regret it
Do not recommend. Ordered 2 lbs of carnitas, side of rice and beans. Carnitas had no flavor and the beans tasted like canned beans.
$2.29 for a taco is a steal here. Loved the tacos. Tried al pastor, carnitas, carne asada and barbacoa. Really liked all of them. The barbacoa was decent, but I thought the others were better. The carnitas was my favorite. And the pastor/carne asada were close seconds. The creamy salsa verde was my favorite salsa. The regular salsa verde and rojo were ok in flavor, but a little watered down.
Jamaica agua Fresca was good, a little on the sweet side for me; rice pudding good too (their version is kind of in the middle, not quite atole but not a thick pudding).
There’s a counter to order masa from (they have different masa’s depending on what you’re making-tacos, gorditas, tamales). Then there’s a different counter for the taqueria. Lots of tables, easy parking, good service.
The tortillas frayed a little bit, didn’t totally break apart but frayed a little but good flavor!
Also love that they serve the tacos with the sweated onions.
Definitely recommend!
The tacos are friggin amazing! We tried the pollo, al pastor, and carne asada. The tortillas were like pillows of goodness gently caressing each comestible as if it were a holy order. Over the top? Perhaps, but go see for yourself. Oh, and the owner is a hockey guy, so that is a huge bonus!
The food is good, the place is clean and the staff bring a good service, overall is a good place to eat
First time for lunch today. The prices have increased from the last menu posting I saw in the reviews but it had more options added as well. We had the enchiladas rojo (which I didn't realize had potatoes inside instead of beef) but that's ok since I'm sure it is very authentic. We also had some tacos, gordita, torta, and caldo de res. My friend had the soup and she said it was "da bomb" and tortillas were super fresh. So I'm sure we'll be back so I can try their soup!
Very flavorful and authentic food! I don't know how they make their tortillas but they're AMAZING! They get very busy during lunch but I don't mind the waiting. It is completely worth it! Get the machete or enchiladas. I'm eager to try their mole and tamales. Very friendly staff as well! I hope they keep their quality and flavor for a long time!
Food is good some too fried or over cooked but flavors are good the salsas are a must the waters are on point
Went here in 8/28; fresh food but it was the customer service that got me. It was top tier. The cashier was nice. And let me tell you this is one of the cleanest places I’ve ever been. I mean it’s top tier clean. This place is special and I will definitely be back.
I called and placed an order Online which it has the prices posted I ordered assuming one price but when I got there it was a $3.00 difference which is ALOT OF MONEY I told the lady that wasn’t the price I seen which I ordered from she said oh it changed and did not want to honor it the food was definitely not worth the $3.00 up charge it did not have any flavor at all I will NOT be back I think I’m just gonna stick to SHOP & GO taco spot right across the street better quality better prices
