FIVE STAR VIP wing of the whole complex. Extremely secure. Whether its substance abuse issues or Mental health, Rio Vista has you covered with a very sweet and caring staff.

I haven't seen a provider in a long time everytime I am about to go for an appointment they said that they have a new provider for me and they need to make a new appointment. For bh nobody wants to have an appointment after one pm so good luck being seen if you have no time available in the mornings. I'm about to run out of meds and they don't care it's only a numbers game. Good luck

I fully believe there are many outstanding veterans and hard working civilians that work at this hospital.
With the small amount of resources they have, I guess they get by.
Definitely a few rotten apples.
I resent going to this place because of all the ropes you have to go through, repetitive story telling since doctors are coming in and out, multiple different opinions on injuries. If you enjoy talking to a wall, this place ain’t half bad. How ever I will tell you that there are obstacles to go through if you are not a frequent flyer with this place.
I would recommend y’all train in interpersonal skills.

Miss Linda was very helpful and informative! (The front desk) and even when she didnt think i was apart of her VA region she still went above and beyond to try to help me!

The entire appointment booking process needs to be eliminated and re-created with known Best Practices. This process is ineffective, cumbersome and leads to more discontinuation of care than anywhere I’ve ever seen. The middle man approach is useless and the clinics I’ve worked with (Dental and Primary Care) rarely return calls. If they do, and you’re unavailable, good luck ever getting a second call back. YOU ARE FAILING YOUR PATIENTS.

Very negative experiences had with the veteran assistance at El Paso main VA clinic. It is concerning to learn that the clinic has been struggling with short staffing, extended appointment dates, and an inability to serve veterans suffering from mental health and physical ailments adequately. These issues can have serious consequences for the health and well-being of veterans who depend on this clinic for their medical care.

It is also heartbreaking to hear that there have been incidents of veteran suicides right outside the VA parking lot. This tragic situation highlights the urgent need for the VA clinic to provide better mental health support to veterans who are struggling with mental health issues.

It is essential that the VA takes this issue seriously and implements measures to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future. This could include increasing staffing levels to provide more comprehensive mental health support, reducing wait times for appointments, and improving access to resources such as counseling and therapy.

It is unacceptable that veterans who seek help at the VA clinic are not receiving the care and support they need, and it is tragic that some are resorting to such desperate measures. The VA must prioritize the mental health of our veterans and ensure that they receive the care and support they need to live healthy, fulfilling lives after their service to our country.
Today, I want to speak about an issue that is of great concern to me - the mistreatment of our 100% disabled veterans. It is unacceptable that these brave men and women who have served our country with honor and distinction are being charged erroneously by community doctors locations that they were sent to by the VA.

It is shocking that these veterans, who have already sacrificed so much, have to confirm whether they can even go to these locations in the first place. This clearly highlights the lack of communication and coordination between the VA and community doctors, which is unacceptable.

What's even more troubling is that these disabled veterans are now facing debt due to this mistreatment. It is a clear insult to injury, and we cannot let this go unnoticed. We must take action to ensure that our veterans receive the care and support they deserve.

Furthermore, the long wait times in El Paso hospitals due to short staffing and caring for illegal immigrants only add to the frustration and mistreatment of our disabled veterans. This is simply unacceptable, and we must demand better from our leaders.

It is vital that we come together as a nation and provide our veterans with the best possible care and support. It is our responsibility to ensure that they have access to the resources and assistance they need to navigate these challenging times.

Therefore, I call on the VA to take responsibility for their actions and provide the necessary resources to help these veterans. It is our duty to provide them with the best possible care and support for their service to our country.

In conclusion, let us not forget the sacrifices that our disabled veterans have made for our country, and let us ensure that they receive the care and respect they deserve. We owe it to them, and we owe it to ourselves as a nation. Thank you.

Terrible care. Rude people. Do not listen to you. I have been disrespected, lied to and ignored by El Paso VA. I am known to be very polite and easy going. Since I got my Medicare and united health care I have completely quit dealing with the worst VA in the country.

Wanna know why Veterans get frustrated and take their lives? This place!
El Paso Va should be completely done away with and send Veterans to WBAMC, the level of compassion for Veterans and providing them with care is just utterly disgusting at the El Paso VA. When in pain, you cannot just walk in and expect to be seen or expect a Dr’s Note for work, they run you off to the WBAMC ER where you have to go wait up to 6 hours.
The Dental Clinic is probably the worst of them all. No walk ins if your in pain, it’s up to the Dr and assistants discretion to call you back with an appointment to be seen even if your in pain.

I want to give it a better review. Seems they are decades behind on receiving vets. I wouldn't want care here ever. Sorry for our vets going through it. I've never had to drive 30 miles to fill out a form when I'm already service connected and in the system. Literally been at 3 other hospitals never had to "fill out forms" at the hospital to get access. Hope ya'll realize it's 2023! It's on an Army base so I get it.they are slow

When a specialty provide decides to retire, it is their specialty staff's responsibility to reassign all their patients to a new provider. Patients shouldn't have to continually call to request this multiple times only to hear "we are working on it. " That is completely unsat. Patients are seeing their specialty provider for a reason.

It's a shame when you go to the c pap clinic (in lab) and you have to tell the provider to put on her mask when she's up in the patients face explaining the machine.and the provider said she's already gotten covid few times.what's wrong with you lady and your the provider for the vets that use their cpap machine? Go back to " common sense school"
Very unprofessional and dumb! Covid is AIRBORN!

Occasional issues with appointments but, other than that, the staff and physicians who work here are very friendly and helpful.

Been waiting over a year to be seen for sleep apnea and they doctor calls in the day of the appointment and travel won't pay me for the two hour drive. Took the day off from work and drove for no reason. Can't say I'm surprised.

I have tried to change my provider with my designated team unsuccessfully. By far he has been the worst doctor I have ever dealt with

Without exaggeration, the worst medical facility I've ever had the displeasure of working with. I have long documented sleep issues / PTSD. I'm currently stuck with Dr. Rodarte. I say stuck because I have attempted multiple times to change providers. The change was directly due to him prescribing medications that was obvious would not me helpful.

(I've had Army / VA medical records going back years, which eventually lead to medications that were helping such but not limited to Klonopin / Lunesta. Note I have NO history of drug abuse.) Instead he will only prescribe what he's comfortable: Doxipine (an antidepressant) and literal Benadryl. I have attempted moving to New Leaf Wellness Center, however the transfer keeps getting denied. Why? Because they state I'm already receiving care there.

I have notified Dr. Rodarte's team multiple times that I am not getting the help I need and am trying to move elsewhere both on the phone and messaging through the portal.

Long story short: El Paso VA's philosophy is this: the patient's well being does not matter. Patients merely exist for staff job security.

They just don’t seem to care from what I’ve personally seen they schedule appointments 90 days out in some cases I think it’s a tragedy and a shame to neglect american veterans I also think they need to either open more facilities and hire more staff to deal with the huge veteran population of El Paso and surrounding areas there obviously overwhelmed and understaffed I hope they fix it I’ve already waited 120 plus days for just a simple appointment to see my doctor

Also the front desk greeters racially profiled against me I don’t know what that’s about this is late 2022 we should be past this pettiness they were absolutely rude to me and embarrassed me in front of my kid and other veterans this place is ridiculous major overhaul is needed
