We came to Emory in early 2020 just before the pandemic took hold or our world. My husbands sister highly recommended Emory Vet for our then 6yo German shepherds needs and found everyone there competent and compassionate. Backes had some health issues that started with allergies when we moved to Texas from Illinois as he developed hot spots and started chewing on himself, then continuing and increasing pain from a blown out elbow that developed terrible arthritis that needed medication also for him to be comfortable.

In 2022 during one of our daily mile long walks he started getting gimpy with the contra lateral hind leg opposite his elbow injury. What else could go wrong with this gorgeous but unhealthy animal. Well, got him checked out and found that he had terrible gene that causes degenerative myelopathy, a disease that gradually causes the dog to lose motor control of his back legs. From onset to the time of death is usually 12 months or less.

Well, Backes made it 9 months before we were forced to mercifully lay him to rest with the help of the Emory vet personnel. They even dimmed the hall lights when we left with him to go home. These folks are a great Gem to have in a small town like Emory. God bless you all and THANKYOU!

Knowledgeable vets. Able to handle my Pomeranian's eye infection diagnosis quickly and accurately. Only downside is they're real people and not open 24-7.2018 upgraded review the five stars continuing to provide excellent service during the hours that they're open

2021 update: for prescriptions they are charging WAY over prices at other veterinarians and other pharmacies (online and physical) and refuse to write scripts for other pharmacies even when they are aware they are charging over 20x the cost for maintenance medicines

Took my 10 yr old Alli a 75 lb Bassett in for a possible uti, she had allergies, licking feet ect. Was told all dogs have them in this area. She was a happy, active dog. Was given rx of 3000 mg a day of amoxicillin, 2x the normal dose, my mother gave her the full dose for a week, I lowered it after that but the damage was done. I had been taking care of my sick father so my mom helped with Alli.my Alli had a reaction to it, throwing up clots of blood, anorexia, shaking etc. Took her back, a doc I didn't know came in, Was told it wasn't the amoxicillin, excused away all of her symptoms of reaction, told me she wasn't going to argue with me when I tried to tell them it was the antibiotic, they gave her a shot of long lasting antibiotic in the same family to bypass the stomach (wich I believe made her worse) and 800$ worth of pills and food that she couldn't eat. She crashed the next day, took her to emergency hospital where she died a few days later. Also gave me an rx of 100 mg.gabepentin 2-3 every 12 hrs.moms dog is on that so i noticed the pills were different. Looked up the G58 gabapentin, 400mg pills! They were indifferent and cold through the whole thing. Dr. Gibbs never once called me to apologize. Was in to drop off receipts from emergency vet and she didn't even acknowledge me standing there. Got a refund and paid me what I spent at emergency hospital but that does nothing to help the pain and anguish this has put my family through. She was part of my family. I wish I would have read her reviews or took her somewhere else before I trusted them, I hope this helps people make a better decision of where to take their furry family. I trusted them and now my Alli is gone.
