Dr. Al has been treating me for my depression and anxiety. Recently he's treating me for my grief in the loss of my mother. I'm starting to feel somewhat normal and able to smile again. His treatments works.

My story:
In December of 2022 I was a 58 yr old healthcare professional who was also a bulimic of 7yrs. It is embarrassing to admit that someone of my age had this dark secret that was slowing taking prominence in their life. However, it was true. Initially the practice was triggered by marginal weight gain during menopause which was causing me great anxiety. But overtime I started to binge if I was stressed from work, from finances and everyday stressors that occur in normal life. I needed to feel some control. Then the eating disorder started to take control of everything in my life. I got to a point where I could not have a normal dinner with my friends and daughter because of the urge to binge and leave early to purge. I tried to stop many times. I would go for days without binging but it would grab me again and take over.
It wasn't until December of 2022, that I began to realize this practice is going to destroy my life if I do not get help. So I was referred to Enabled Care and I met with Alozie Amayaka. After listening to me during the first session, it was his medical opinion that I was experiencing high levels of anxiety that had become my functional baseline for years. He identified that my sleeping patterns were not optimal as well (waking up 3-4 times a night) which contributed to the overall anxiety. Therefore, he prescribed Prozac and a non-addictive sleeping aid. After starting the medication, I immediately noticed an improvement. However, I retained some skepticism whether the affects would be long-lasting. Well... I can now attest that I have completed 11 months of therapy without even ONE setback of a purging episode. It is hard to believe the calmness that I am experiencing without the impulsive urges. I am eating normal amounts of food and the impulse to binge is no longer present. I also sleep through the night and wake up feeling just a tad bit drowsy but it quickly goes away and I am ready for the day.
Most importantly, the medication has improved my focus and subsequently allowed me to be more creative and productive in my professional and personal life. My brain is no longer held hostage by the unhealthy impulses. I would also add that the medication has improved the symptoms that accompany menopause such as night sweats and irritability. In fact, my 25 yo daughter says, "You are such a different person now! " LOL Thanks to the treatment regimen I have received from Alozie, I am finally free to live my life again and enjoy it to its fullest.

My wife has been seeing Dr. AL for over a year now, I must say that he has helped our marriage. My wife was suffering with extreme onset depression, and lost of appetite, at times she old not get out the bed. Dr. Al now has her on medication that has given her back her vitality, and will to face her challenges. She looks vibrant and plush from gaining back healthy weight. Dr Al has been great for both my husband and daughter. He is very attentive and listens to the issues at hand and helps address them as needed as well as when needed. Anytime we need a refil he makes sure it is taken care of within the hour. It shows that he cares for his patients and it is not just a job for him.

I am so glad that I found Enabled Care Psychiatry. I was struggling in nursing school so much to the point that I failed out due to having ADHD. I'm someone who doesn't like to take medication and likes to resolve issues in a more holistic route. After failing out of school, I went to Enabled Care psychiatry, and Dr. Amayaka helped me tremendously. Dr. Amayaka is more than a psychiatrist who diagnoses and treats with medication. Enabled Care Psychiatry and especially Alozie Amayaka has been a life saver. Or, at least, a quality of life saver. I had gotten so depressed and anxious that I did not want to go on. I wasn’t going to hurt myself or anything like that, but I had no desire to live life, to get out of bed, to do anything I didn’t absolutely have to do. I just couldn’t see or feel any reason for it.

After meeting him and working with him for many months now I don’t feel like the same person anymore. There are things I looked forward to doing each day. I’ve made new friends and I found out that I can help people and be helped by other people. I underwent a change in medications after a decade on the same anti-depressant and he worked with me on that transition and recommended a new combination that is working well. He is helping to tailor the other medications for a comprehensive package. He also spends time with me on the phone when I have a question or idea about something.

I am thankful to that that IS, the ground of all being for the chance to get my life back on track. And I’m happy that Alozie Amayaka is a part of that process. If you are struggling you should really give him a call.

The provider is very patient in my care. He listens to understand what my individual needs are and now I am much better. He is available after hours with very fast response via email, which is very important to me.
