Would not recommend for a little boy's hair cut. I really wanted to like this place as it's in the neighborhood, but we will not be back. On the positive side, the staff and stylist we had were courteous and friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I wish I could say as much for the cut.
I tried to be really clear in what I was asking for, but unfortunately, there was a big misunderstanding of some kind. The stylist we had did not understand what I was asking for in a haircut for my elementary school aged son, although I showed her the photo of what we were going for at least 4 times. We were looking for a 1 on the sides and about finger length on top with a fade between the crown of the head and top (my son's cowlick area). The first time she did the cut, she didn't cut the crown area short enough, and it didn't fade well with the top, so I once again showed the stylist the photos of what we were looking for, and asked for her to cut that area shorter. She misunderstood and the next thing I knew, she had cut the entire top of my son's hair off. In the end, what we received was closer to a buzz cut. It's so short that it's totally not fixable and will just have to grow out. We didn't want to make a scene so we went ahead and paid and just left. My son is so embarrassed with his new haircut that he's been insisting on wearing a hat whenever we go out. It's going to be a long 4-6 weeks... Sigh. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra $, and go to Sharkey's, Cookie Cutters, or Pigtails & Crewcuts if you need a kids' cut. They've never let me down, unlike this place.

If I could give it a 0 I would, I asked for and showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted. A very low fade that only touched the bottom of my back hair and then fade it to the side. Keep the bangs and top of my hair lengthy but not bushy (so just a trim barely touching my hair) and what I got was horrifying. So embarrassing after flexing for cutting hair for years she said to mess up so bad. Shaved all of my head side and back. Cut my bangs and top so short. Asked for a refund 5 minutes later because I was so embarrassed to make a scene right there because 2 other stylists looked at me and knew she messed up and I felt like all eyes were on me. Waited in my car feeling so bad came back in and got a "we can't give refunds but I'll talk to my manager" (wasn't there) so they are making me wait 2 days just for 25 dollars that I'm not 100% sure of not even getting back. (17 haircut and tip which I should've just left). If you want them to shave your head then go for it. One of the photos is what I wanted and showed the stylist and the other one is what I got.

Do NOT have Courtney cut your hair if you want more than a trim

I called on Black Friday to see if I could get in. I need a dry cut with long layers put in (they’d grown out). I straighten my hair before going as I always do when getting it cut since my hair is naturally wavy (usually causes me to not have issues) They were able to book me and I headed in.

I arrived and the stylist was Courtney. My only request were to blend my layers, make sure my hair was even and I wanted it in a V shape in back. I asked how much was dead and she said about 2 inches. Perfect. At that time my hair was 3 inches from the top of my jeans

The first time she turned me around my ‘long layers’ were about 1/8” -1/4” from the length of my hair and truly looked like a downtown skyline with the various ‘layers’. And they were far from blended (again downtown skyline). She’d cut off about 4” of length. It was also not V shaped.it was straight across the back. So she said she’d blend them and I prayed for the best. The second time was not any better.

I got up and believe it or not, paid for the service and even tipped 2.00 (that’s my nature). I don’t like confrontation and normally I wait a day and go back when stylist isn’t there for corrections. I looked at her and said ‘I’m not happy’.

She called over the manager, Miriam and she could see the problem. Miriam tried her best to fix it as best she could without taking more off the length (by now I’ve already lost about 5-6”). She did add layers back into it, evened it as best she could but would have had to take even more off length to do the V shape so we left it.

I understand the stylist didn’t have much experience and everyone has to learn. I used to go to high school cosmetology for haircuts for years. But if you don’t know how to do something either ask someone how or tell the customer. I was not offered a refund or anything and was too mentally exhausted to say anything further. They are getting 2 stars only due to Miriam trying her best to fix it (while she had another client as well who was okay with it) or else it would be 1

I honestly don’t know how to feel about it, I came on saturday to ask questions about how to do my highlights and this lady seemed so annoyed. I know they might have had a bad day at work but it wasn’t nice. I had red hair dyed previously and asked her about it and she said it will be fine. I came to my appointment the next day and the lady who was doing my hair was the nicest but the problem is, she didn’t give me what I asked for. I asked for thin highlights and for a cut not above my shoulders. Once she started, everything was okay but when she finished I saw that she gave me chunky highlights instead and cut my hair above my shoulder. I am very disappointed with my hair because it’s not what I wanted. Also, the red in my hair made the highlights show up darker than supposed to. I didn’t mind that, it’s that the lady told me it’d be fine. I have school tomorrow and I feel very un confident to show my hair. I look like a bumblebee. I also don’t remember the names of the stylists but I will be returning to fix it.

Claudia did a great job with my hair! She answered the one million questions I had about what to do with my hair and went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. I will definitely be returning

I had a great first appointment with Courtney for a hair trim/cut. She was thorough in asking me what I wanted and checking to make sure my hair was even with no details missed. I’m also usually nervous about talking with the cutter but Courtney was so easy and natural to talk with we genuinely had a good time. I was in and out in 30-45min too. Happy to go back next time

17 years ago, I walked in with red hair one look from Miriam, my hairstylist she is like you were too pretty in. Let’s start toning the red and going towards more blonde highlights…. Here we are. I haven’t looked back. Miriam is a true professional.

This was my first visit to Fantastic Sams Arbor Park. This is a great salon that offers many services. I was looking for a place in my neighborhood that could do color correcting and gave Fantastic Sams a try. The salon is is very clean and the staff is very professional and kind. The prices are very reasonable. Courtney did amazing work on my hair. I needed color correction and I also needed to cover alot of very stubborn gray. Courtney made my hair look absolutely gorgeous! I'm so happy! She matched the color I wanted my hair to be, corrected my color, and covered all of my stubborn gray. My hair is so shiny and the color is so beautiful! Courtney also cut my hair and it looks so cute and healthy. I'm so glad I gave this salon a try. I will returning in the future.
