First Place Kids Preschool, Houston TX

My 2 year old daughter attended this school for approximately 13 months. I have always had a love / hate relationship with the way they run things here. For example things I loved was the camera system they have to send you pictures of your child through the day. Being a first-time mother, I really enjoyed that. I also loved how professional, clean and friendly the staff is here and mostly The Director, Miss Ann is amazing and friendly. Now let’s get into things I didn’t like about this daycare. Number one my daughter never had a permanent teacher it was always different substitute in and out of her classroom the whole year. #2 My daughter would always come home with bite marks and no one ever knew what happened or where they came from that was very upsetting. (Also I saw another parent say the same thing) LASTLY BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY whoever is the owner (I have never seen her in 13 months) / financial advisor is very unprofessional. I was having problems regarding payment with my NCI and she just stopped responding to my emails she stopped answering my calls also she is not taking accountability for her mistake and blame it all on me for them not getting paid for 10 months. How do you not notice that you’re not getting paid for 10 months then say I owe the school 5,000 dollars? If we’re going to be anything let’s be honest. My daughter didn’t go to school every day and definitely not after mysterious bite marks constantly was appearing. And the only reason the school found out they weren’t getting paid is because my daughter missed a whole month and I was bringing her back and everyone thought she was unenrolled and I said no I never unenrolled her. I just didn’t like the service so I stopped bringing her. So how did the owners come up with the $5,000.00 the world would never know. And I will be honest the owner was willing to work with me on a payment plan but the numbers just wasn’t right 5K is crazy and she never called me so we could discuss all the days my child was not attending she just came up with a random number if you ask me.and the crazy part about all of this is I just got my NCI back and I was still considering this facility because my daughter is familiar with the staff.

Best preschool center in Houston. It's great to see a daycare care for children and teach them. The Director is awesome and they have a lovely staff. We have had a good experience at this daycare and would recommend this daycare to everyone in the Houston area. 10/10 Keep up the good work guys!

This was a well trusted daycare. I was able to see what activities my kids were doing through out the day and they always kept me informed about my children. Ms. Andrea always greeted us with a smile on her face at 6: 00 every morning. My kids definitely miss this place. I would definitely recommend this daycare to anyone.

First Place Kids is just absolutely wonderful! My children spent 2 years at this place, they loved it and so did I. The teachers and the owner are very kind helpful and attentive to the children. What I really liked is that everyday my children where there they sent me pictures of them threw out the day and now I have so many good memories of my children being in school that I have saved and it’s such a blessing.

My experience at First Place Kids was so radically different from my son Dominic’s former daycare- in the best way. First Place IS ALWAYS on point with communication- staff members will always let the parent know if there’s a problem or if the kids had a great day in school that day. Dominic was excited to see everybody at First Place Kids every single day. I have zero complaints, and when I give birth to my baby girl, she will likely be going here as well!

This place went downhill quickly, initially when we enrolled our 2 kids in January 2023 under a great director BUT she left in April. We’ve had an incident in the 2 year old class when my daughter had two significant bite marks and no one notified us or even ‘seen or heard anything’ when it happen. They review cameras but never give access to parents, nothing was seen and they resolved to add another staff since they did know a biter was in the class.

In May, my 3 year old pointed at the Director Ann and said ‘she hit me. ’ She adamantly denied it but after he said she hit him again a few months (August) so we withdrew both of our kids. During the investigation, the Director Shawnee displayed no interest in the welfare of the kids. She mainly talked about that type of allegation could get people fired and I responded, as they should be. She also said that the Director Ann grandson was in the classroom and was receiving corporal punishment being hit with an ruler and he sat next to our son. My son also told us about the ruler and kids being hit with it by Director Ann. Unacceptable. Collectively, they lied when the state investigated everything and would not release video recordings. Even though Director Shawnee said they had recordings saved for this entire year. They told us things that they lie about to the state. Do not take your children here. I’m extremely disappointed in how this place failed to protect my children while they were in their care.

A great place my daughter wants to come back but they not in her school zone! We love it here the food the place was great, stuff was great

My daughter has been at their facility for over 2 years. They treat both of my kids like they are their own and are super personable and understanding. I’m grateful to have them as my daycare.

Loved it here, I worked for a company that sends me out to sub when I’m needed at daycares. Was a sub here for 1 month and it was by far one of the best daycares I’ve been too, everything is so well done and all the workers there are nice and know what they are doing. Definitely recommend this place for your kids!
