Gallo Nero Dallas reviews
16Horrible, go somewhere for food this place has no flavor horrible cooks and weak drinks. If I could rate them a ZERO OH I WOULD! Food is trash
I really enjoyed this place. We had the Tour of Italy, and the Chicken Rigatoni with Vodka sauce, both were amazing. On top of that, we learned that on Wednesdays, bottles of wine are half off. Very good deal. Highly recommend it, would make reservations though as it is not huge inside.
This is a lovely spot off of Lower Greenville. We went on a weekend when the weather was perfect to sit on the patio. It was not crowded and had great service. The pasta has a huge portion, enough you share or to take to go. The food was delicious and I will definitely return. If you're by Lower Greenville, them out!
It looked cute on the outside. We went with a group of 4 we kept thinking man everything tastes water down. My friend ordered the strawberry smash and got a watered down watermelon. Our boyfriends got cocktails old fashioned were watered. I ordered an aperol spritz and it was disgusting completely flat no bubble I sent it back and I got a cucumber martini. The cucumber martini was good. My boyfriends chicken parm has watery sauce, watery margherita pizza, not the place.
Christina was an amazing server that made great recommendations. The chicken Alfredo pizza was bomb.
Ordered drinks, a pizza, chicken parm and spaghetti. The drinks, the pasta sauce and the marinara all tasted watered down. In the plates with pasta sauce you could actually see pooled water. In the meatball there is no seasoning - it just looks like rolled ground beef. At least the staff is nice.
The atmosphere and the food is great. Great customer. Wednesdays are half off bottle of wine
The sauce be on point being a New Yorker Italian food it’s like a second language they do a great job at it great tasting food will come again
Four of us went in 9/21 for dinner. Place seemed nice. Ordered some drinks and garlic bread. Waiter was acting very strange. I could guess what was going on with him but I won’t. He was just bouncing off the walls and super edgy. Paid for the bread and drinks and left. Just moved to Dallas and this neighborhood. Still have high hopes for all of these walkable spots but I doubt I’ll ever go back to Gallo Nero. Bummer. Gave an extra star because the drinks were good.
We struggled to communicate with the bartender, so service was a bit sketchy. Overall, it was a great place. I will definitely give it another try.
My first time to Gallo Nero, been wanting to try for a while.
Met a friend for dinner and had a great time - the Scallops and Shrimp Cremoras was excellent - i added linguini! Service was very good - until we got the check and paid. I thought wow, that was kind of pricey. Because they added a 20% gratuity (we were 2 people) AND I tipped on that total, so nearly 50%. Glad I had them send the receipt to my phone. To make it worse, once I brought it to their attention, they corrected it, only they gave me the original gratuity they charged back, but not the extra money I added to the total.
This is strictly in principle, because I feel all of that was very shady, but It will be a long time before I will probably go back
I bought a pasta with shrimp, it doesn't even have salt, it's very simple, I won't go to that place again.
The flavors and food quality were both great as well as the atmosphere, but I have some cross-contamination concerns.
Basically, I found a different noodle in my supposedly gluten free Shrimp Scampi Spaghettini GF; this insinuates that they boil all their pasta in one pot and possibly with other non gluten-free pastas, resulting it easy cross contamination. I really enjoyed the flavor profile of my "GF" Shrimp Scampi Spaghettini GF, otherwise. I also ordered an enjoyably sweet and complex glass of Sparkling Rosé Virbio and a Side of Vodka Sauce that tasted homemade.
Overall, I did enjoy the experience but I don't think I will be coming back until I can properly confirm their gluten-free pasta preparation procedure.
Overall it's a nice place with good food. Portion sizes are proportionate to the price. The complimentary garlic bread they give you lacks flavor in the dough definitely needs more salt. I was surprised to see that fresh grated parmesan wasn't offered. The service was great Will (our server) did a great job. Food came out in a timely manner.
The food was pretty good. Pizza was great. The service was pretty poor. Waited 15 minutes to try to get the waitress back over to get refills on water for all three people at the table. Had to get up and go get salt on my own as the waitress forgot. There was only one other group eating at the time we were so it wasn’t busy at all. There was also an alarm or weird ringing phone noise that kept going off without being addressed. It was very loud and continuous. Pretty disappointed with the service and would likely not go back due to that.
