Garner Dam and Picnic Area reviews
16Amazing place for night stay and water fun. Was lucky to get clear sky in the night for milky way sighting and star watch.
We came at a time that the water was low, but we still had fun floating around. The weather was beautiful and the water was high enough to float on. So peaceful and beautiful area. They have pits everywhere and picnic tables to barbecue and get together. My dad brought us here on a camping trip when I was a kid. This brought back good memories. Such a great place to make new memories.
Refreshing and magical place to enjoy the weekend of camping, hiking, kayaking and hiking.
Nice big camping spots.
Pretty area. Clean bathrooms.
Well stocked store and friendly staff.
Loving my garner state park.the river is rolling just like the thunder and lighting.tyj for our vacation!
Best camping you can find. Dam has great water spots, some cool good stuff to eat but bring something for backup food if you're feeding an army.
Overcrowded with no place to buy meals. Ice cream shop overcharges. Bathrooms inadequate for the number of people and poorly cleaned.
Definitely a great place to visit and spend the day with the family. The water is shallow and nice and there are a few ropes for the kids to jump into the wayer safely. There are many concrete picnic tables (uncovered) to set up your things as well as BBQ stands. They rent, tubing, paddle boats, kayaks and Stand Up boards. There is agood basketball court and volleyball. The place has many friendly trails to hike. Restrooms were very clean by the gift shop. They had a food truck b8t it was closed on Saturday, not sure when they open. It's dog friendly, many playgrounds around and
It was our first time here, we camped out. We were only supposed to stay for 3 nights but my 19 yr old 9 yr old and 7yr old wanted to stay an extra night, so we did.they loved the paddle boat we went swimming every day we were there and did 2 little hikes.we will be going back
The nostalgia is real, me and my family used to come here every year, I enjoyed seeing the water and trails! I definitely recommend claiming old baldy if you have experience in extreme hiking!
Awesome park. There’s hiking and other activities but when we go, we just swim all day. The water is beautiful if you get there in the morning before the park gets crowded. Early bird gets the worm!
Pretty cool spot. Amazing hiking that will keep you occupied all day. If you can make it to the old overlook from the 50s, please do. It's worth it.
Beautiful clean and cold water, plenty of space to park and camp, the rangers are very attentive. The view from the overlook are stunning. Week days are the best and more quiet to go there.
We went on Easter Sunday 2022 and used the 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. Day passes that we reserved online! It was crowded as to be expected on a hot holiday weekend! Nevertheless the kids enjoyed themselves! I learned of a more secluded, less crowded area right up the river that we will probably try next time as opposed to this area!
An amazingly beautiful and tranquil state park. Having this first visit in the late Fall, was such a treat. I'm certain that in the Summer this area would be packed.
Oct/30 Beautiful place. We went w our pack and ate subway sandwiches we had picked up about 25 minutes away. We walked the trails a bit and just enjoyed nature.
