19 I've been coming to this gym for a long time now and I've never had any issues with the staff or the people in it. I pay my monthly dues and yearly upgrade charges with no problem. I'm here to use the weights and that's worth the price I pay.
I'm looking forward to continuing coming here once it reopens again. Also would be nice if we can get maybe a month or two free this year due to covid-19.
Read the fine print. Don't let them rush you through on the electronic screens. They do not disclose everything. Extra yearly fees for one.
I contacted the company after receiving an email from corporate, informing me that the gym still had the right to continue billing during its closure. I began a membership maybe a week before non-essential businesses were ordered to close. I attempted to cancel my membership considering that that I was not able to access the services I was charged for. I was then told that I must cancel in person despite the gym being closed. They told me I must wait for the gym to reopen, and then to cancel in person. Their billing company then canceled the automatic bank drafts but kept my membership and fees active. When the automatic bank drafts were stopped they informed me that my membership dues were increasing. Even if that's buried in a contract somewhere, it feels predatory. Do not give business to this place. I feel taken advantage of. I will continue to warn people about this company and its dealings. Both in person and online, I will make sure people know that this company is not respectable. I do not appreciate being pickpocketed during a crisis.
If your child has food allergies then this is not the place for you to take your kids. They have you sign a no food allowed in the kids club then break the rules. No accountability and no apologies, just excuses! I have been a member for almost a year and had to leave due to this reason. I have spoke with multiple staff and my situation was not taken seriously.
Out of contract cancellations are impossible. Had to call numerous times and go up there and still charging me with zero attempts to make it right.
I guess I was tricked into signing a contract when I was told I was just signing up to tan. Be cautious of anything you sign with these people THEY ARE FRAUD! Edited (replying to reply) NEVER EVER was I told that. I've never been into tanning except every once in a while. Definitely not something I would pay for a full freaking year. Only tanned 3 times while husband worked out. I was under the assumption I was his guest. If I was going to be committed to tanning I would go to a month to month
This place is so shady with memberships. Beware. It’s cheap for a reason. They also charge hidden fees throughout the year for “facility upgrades, ” which don’t seem to actually happen since this place is not very well-maintained. Pay extra and join the Y or Lifetime if you live in Kingwood. Trust me.
Edit: As you can see below, they also have no concern for the privacy of patrons and will post your place of work if you leave a negative review.
Golds Gym -Kingwood is my second home. The atmosphere within its wall gives me family/friend vibe. My favorite thing to do is Zumba with Melissa and my Zumba fam. Special thanks to Latoya Jackson for keeping me disciplined and motivated!
Love this gym, the ladies in the kids club are awesome and took the time with my little to make her comfortable & now she loves it! Billy at the front desk is awesome too.always greets us with a smile and a friendly hello. It’s a great way to start our day!
LaToya is awesome and everyone deserves a raise up at the front desk. They work very hard and have to deal with the worst aspects of customer interactions.
We’ve been coming for almost 2 years, and wife and I both agree that it really isn’t that nice of a gym. The machines and weights are outdated, a few machines are always broken and the billing is a total joke. You know it’s mismanaged when every response from the owner in regards to the billing is just a generic response. I’ve met a few fellow members who say they do not like it as well. They’re better than planet fitness, but that’s about it. There’s a lot of better options out there

Told me downright falsehoods to get me to sign an agreement, then wouldn't fix the issue, very bad ethics & customer service!
Should have taken care of the problem the first three times I called for help.
Overall, the equipment selection/quality is a bit lacking but the staff have always been great.
Greatly enjoy the RPM classes. Paula really works at putting together fun yet challenging rides. Always helpful and motivating especially to new participants trying out the class
I love this location! I've been going every week day for almost 2.5 years and I'm not sure how I'd live without it. Most of the week I am working out on the floor but have tried a few classes too and there's never been one I didn't like. The instructors are fantastic. I've recently fallen in love with Joanne's barre class that is seriously amazing and always leaves me feeling strong, graceful and pretty! Highly recommend!
Latoya and Billy are great at the front desk! Always friendly and personal instead of treating me just like some customer.
Cancelled my membership in June because I’m a full time student and moving to another state and they charged me until September bing the last month. They charged me for October and now they are saying I owe them 75$. I stopped payment.
Joanne is the Best! I take her Body Flow class and Barre class. She is so knowledgeable and patient with everyone in the class. I look forward to my 5: 00 mornings and afternoons with her! She definitely puts a smile on my face!
I have to add this.bc after reading reviews my heart hurts. Golds Gym is my Family. I have Soooo many friends that I Love to see Everyday! Yes there are things that need to be fixed.but the staff and friends beat everything.
We love the yoga and BodyFlow classes with JoAnn and Megna. I use the free weights as well and the selection is fine. My big request is that a water bottle refill station be installed. Overall, Gold's is great and very close to home.
