Gold's Gym New Braunfels

BUYER BEWARE! We were told to cancel the first of the month, 30 days, and we would not be charged for the next month. My son left for college and I'm paying for an additional month that will not be used. So they lied when we started, now it is from the date you joined. As usual this gym is horrible, we will not be back.

I like that it has everything one needs to get started in fitness, but my only concern is that it needs another Olympic Squat set; there is at least two of everything except the Olympic Squat set and it would help cut the waiting time or the line of people waiting to use it.

Hunter was very helpful and insightful when I came in, I signed up for a membership with him right on the spot. Great gym and great staff!

When I lived in college station I frequented the gold's there, well because it was about the only show in town.

There were things I disliked about it, and things I loved about it. Today was a reminder of how much I missed the branded gold's gym.

When you walk in, greeted by a wonderful lady with what I thought was a European accent. Wasn't 100% sure, but didn't want to pester to ask. She was great.

The flow of the gym was great. Nice crossfitter section, the machines were laid out great. Three squat racks, couple smith machines. But the best part? Everything was functioning, the pads weren't falling apart. And it was clean. It was leg day (best day) and honestly every piece of equipment I used was in good order.

I drink a plethora of water when i workout, and can say the bathrooms were clean. Soap was stocked, and paper towels were Scott branded. Nice stuff.

They have a lot of cybex machines, but not one arc trainer. Miss that thing. But they have the lateral octane machines. After crushing a leg day, hitting that just hits differently.

Gym is legit. Clean. Friendly. Good stuff. If I'm here on vacation again, I'll hit it up.

This is the nicest gym I've ever been to including the front desk and staff it's just flat out amazing I do go out of my way just to physically come to this gym for the experience but they also could use another squat rack and leg press machine haha. Hunter is especially nice and deserves any praise that he gets!

Gold's New Braunfels use to be an alright gym.
After Coof 19 they closed the pool and kids club. When my wife asked if they were going to be reopened the staff told her they were closed indefinitely.
Minor problems, we just started going at separate times.
On the night of June 14th I was having a conversation with my co-worker while renewing my membership and the staff member at the desk decided for whatever reason in his mind that the conversation somehow revolved around him.
Upon completing our workout the staff member aforementioned in the above decided to move to block my coworker and my exit from the facility.
Upon making verbal contact with the staff member who was blocking means of exit, he informed us he felt disrespected by us.
The staff member then informed us "we don't have to like each other but we better respect him. "
The staff member was informed that at no point in time was the conversation about him, then questioned as to why he is listening in then associating himself with stranger's conversation he apologized but remained hostile and tense.
The staff member then informed us we can still use the gym we pay to use but we better "respect him" while we are there.
Based off tone and demeanor of this individual blocking our means of exit and remaining tense and hostile in tone we informed him that since we were not free to leave by means of physical presents (blocking the exit with his body) that we would have no problem detaining him and allowing the local police department to transport and charge him.
Upon this revelation the staff member then stepped out of the way and allowed us passage.
I debriefed with my coworker in the parking lot then decided to reenter the establishment as Gold's Gym will only let you cancel your membership via written notice.
The above mentioned staff member then handed us the termination of contract paperwork and I requested a supervisor call, to which they did promptly the next morning.
Upon filling out the paperwork we left with no further incident involving the individual.
Gold's gym charged me for a membership on 06/25/2022.
On 06/27/2022 I asked if it was still policy to charge people to not use an unsafe facility with hostile staff and was informed it is policy and they would not refund the charge but I'm free to return till the end off my contract.
Overall not a bad place to work out, few machines, fewer staff.
Staff is lackluster at best in professionalism and just sits at the desk watching movies at night.
Expect to wipe machines twice, staff doesn't do regular rounds.
Maybe expect hostile staff as their written/verbal/reporting skills from one individual shift to the next is non-existent.

Was a two now is a one star because they took money from my account for my last month’s membership but still keep trying to charge my card.
Even though I’ve been in three times in person, shown the bank statements, and have called the collections agency they use.
The only competent employees seem to be from the collection agency who received a statement but told me to go to the gym… again.

Not enough working equipment for the amount of people that are always there. They need to upgrade or replace their equipment and add more things as this town continues to grow and more people continue to sign up.

Great friendly staff! Madison is helpful and Always greets you at the front desk, and Aya Cho teaches a great cycling class, she’s the most energetic and encouraging teacher I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing a class with!

Be prepared to pay your monthly fee for months after you cancel because of their incompetence. I called today because I was charge again and the kid at the desk that answered just laughed at me. Way to be a professional gym

I signed up for a membership and training but my newborn daughter almost died and ended up in the nicu for 90 days but these vultures made sure to charge me for every cent and made me jump through hoops to cancel. I will never in my life ever step foot in a golds gym again.

You should be absolutely ashamed of your organization.

Do business with this place at your own risk they will take every dime from you and care nothing about others.

I came in to finish setting up a membership I had signed up for online with Gage at the front desk. He was very kind and welcoming and it took less than 5 mins to complete. The manager gave me a follow up call the next day to ensure I didn’t have any questions and thanked me for joining. I really appreciate the great customer service. Thank you!

Great price, great equipment. Staff is always friendly and broken equipment is usually never out of service for more than a few days.

Well equipped gym, knowledgeable staff and good personal trainers. Operating hours are Iong enough to meet your daily schedule too. But it does get crowded often so plan accordingly. Dues are fair and there are discounts for AARP members, veterans and military personnel.

Wanted to sign up.
They are the closes gym to my location. Found out that nation wide they are locking down all the pools for no good reason.
Please don't say bacteria. Chlorine kills everything. However people touching up touching up machines that don't clean that don't clean them app after use has more bacteria than anything else. You do not see anyone walking around cleaning at all times.

For those people that are swimmers due to injuries, this is heart breaking or elderly. It seems they only cater to people that are vision of Hollywood. Just look at their website.

The normal individual wants to see results driven person, not a model that never had an injury that caused weight gain posing like they're working out at the age 22.

They are not giving people with disabilities that can only use the pool to have a healthy workout.

This is a corporate thing. So disappointed.

This gym is my favorite, out of all the near by gyms up the road in SA- this gym is the cleanest every time I visit. The bathrooms are spotless. I gym hop between 4 other gyms in SA and NB is no comparison. Thank yall NB team!

I usually stop by Golds Gym in New Braunfels before I drive down to San Antonio. They have working hot hot showers and clean equipment.

Sad the pool is no longer available, I had a motorcycle accident and water exercise would be helpful however I joined anyway, better than PF I usually do not have to wait for equipment.

I simply requested from Hunter Weise the use of his restroom and without hesitation he said they don't allow public restroom use. There is a time and place for that type of policy. Fortunately Santikos does not have that same policy Thank you for humility to help people in need.

I signed membership and then in 2020 had to move to another state. Ever since I try communicate with them and cancel membership but it’s impossible - they not give that option. Horrible experience with this “gym”. Extremely unprofessional. There is no easy way or any way to cancel their “service” which I’m not using for months. Isn’t there people who actually want to go to their gym? Talking with them feels like with a wall or telemarketers who try to sell you something you don’t need. I don’t want your service! Give me my money back for months when I didn’t use your service and my membership was cancelled already!

I’ve been to a lot of Gold’s around the country, let me just start off by saying the crew that works this gym is amazing. Will and his guys do an amazing job of making you want to come to their gym. It’s always clean, in order, and not overly crowded.
