Gold's Gym San Marcos

Physical strength affects everything from the ability to walk up and down steps to fetching an object under a table to picking up milk in the grocery store. I had lost significant strength by not exercising in the harsh San Marcos weather. Then I joined GOLD’s GYM and began attending the Silver Sneaker Class 3-4 times a week. After 8 weeks, I regained my former strength and my blood pressure dropped to classic normal - what a glorious surprise! I am grateful for the excellent trainers and exercise machines assisting my recovery

Generally enjoyed my membership, however, after moving, I needed to cancel my membership. They only allow you to cancel in person though, which is incredibly inconvenient.

Jade always greets with a smile and High energy. Everytime I come in she makes me feel comfortable and conversation comes easy. Very happy with the front desk service

The front desk personnel was great. I had an issue with billing but Anthony helped me immediately from the call and in person.

My 5 star review is solely based on an employee there by the name of Anthony. It is so refreshing to be greeted at the front door with a genuine welcoming feeling. It’s not just that, he crossed over to a line that never seems to happen these days by accommodating our needs that would have been easily dismissed by others. Anthony, Gold’s Gym is truly lucky to have you represent them. Thank you again!

The staff is very kind and lovely, however the facilities should receive some maintenance & updates. There’s not enough equipment and most of them are worn out past replacement there a lot of machine that need service or replacement. Also, open all area for member this gym isn’t big enough to sustain the amount of people that come in. I hope this review gets some light, I enjoy this gym but it could be better.

The water fountains are garbage, the place is almost always packed no matter when you go, it is always unnaturally hot, barely anyone wipes down their equipment, people constantly re-rack 5 and 10 pound plates under multiple 45s and 25s, people will try and cut you in the line for a squat rack/deadlift platform, and people constantly slam the weight stack on the cable machines (without using the rubber protectors in the stack) which breaks them often.

Oh and if you want to calmly and politely cancel your membership with the lady in the curly black hair at the front desk she’s gonna be extremely rude, threaten you, and then try to reverse-Karen you by asking you if you want to see a manager.

If you like being dehydrated after sweating an unnatural amount in a crowded gym with little to no common gym etiquette, going on a wild goose chase for 5 or 10 pound plates and/or barbell clips, and a bad apple at the front desk — then this is the perfect place for you.

They won't let you cancel your membership without paying for an ADDITIONAL MONTH because it somehow takes 30 days to process the cancelation. Go to a gym that doesn't try to charge you unfairly.

Sauna, squat racks, stair climber. The big three for me and they have them. Ideally there would be hot tubs and cold plunges too but that's rare to get those. The only thing I don't like so much is the lack of benches to sit on in the male locker room relative to the amount of lockers. If one dude is sitting on the bench squeezing another on them is a stretch if you want to keep your stuff off the floor or haven't opened the locker yet. Also gotta get more removable shower heads.

Great and convenient Golds location in the heart of San Marcos. This has everything you could need and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Very open and spacious layout and I also like sauna.

Customer service sucks at this location. Jade is just rude and don't know how to communicate with customers. Everyone is always on their phones. Cleaning stations always running out sanitary supplies. Yall need to step up your games.

I enjoyed going to the gym especially the Silver Sneakers program. That's more my pace for right now in my life.

Customer service here is so awesome. Jade have me a tour, she was very welcoming, eccentric, and informational! Very cool.
