Goodwill Central Texas - Lamar Oaks reviews
17Been shopping here for a long time. I went in today and it seems like prices have doubled, unfortunately. I hope that money is going to rent and employee's salaries. Austin is a very expensive place to live, now!
I literally found something for everyone in my family! I got some great books for a steal and had an overall great experience! Plus I like that the reusable bags they sell are affordable as well as durable!
This place gets two stars for how easy it is to donate stuff. Other than that, it's a dud. Everything is thoroughly picked through, with very little chance of finding cute or fun items. The prices are crazy high too! I was looking at a plate and they had it labeled at 19$. If it's worth that much put it behind glass in a goodwill auction. If you're looking for a thriftstore experience, this one is not it.
The store is clear and well organized.the staff is super friendly - now just dispense with the 'all hardcovers books 3.99' rule!
Prices have gotten way too high! They are selling as if things are new. Things are donated, they don’t need to mark things so high. Your better off going to dollar tree and paying $1.25, at goodwill you will pay double or triple.
I can't recommend this non-profit organization enough. They have an excellence entry-level, equal opportunity mission for putting people to work and truly is raising the bar for corporate responsibility & support in the community. I now know 3 special needs adults who have gained employment within Goodwill in Austin. The South Lamar location itself is clean and well-organized and you can tell that the employees from the awesome, recently promoted GM James, to the donation- collectors, cashiers etc.really take pride in their jobs.
I'd highly encourage you to shop, donate and change people's lives by supporting Goodwill.
This goodwill is larger then some in the area. Had a large selection of shoes on almost all the clothing racks
Wow.what a shopping win! So many beautiful quality pieces. I will be back! Good stuff here!
This one seemed more expensive than most Goodwills I have patroned. For example, 14.99 for a used cat box. Yikes. Amd no half price sticker color, either.
It was twice as nice when it re-opened as Goodwill, but I'm sad to admit it wasn't what it used to be. Slightly disappointed.
I am working at this location & it is a good place. However to me & my cheap a** I don't like to purchase that much, but the chips, candy or drink. Also have great customer service.
The store was clean & had a fairly good selection of items. When checking out the cashier asked if the restroom was clean? It nice to see an establishment ask for feedback.
If you want name brand clothes like lululrmon, petagonia, American Eagle, Toms etc.this a great place to find treasures, although I do find alot of items to be twice as expensive than other goodwill’s in the Austin area!
Literally the cleanest and best smelling goodwill I’ve ever been to, Vanessa was extremely helpful while working very hard to maintain a nicely organized environment, will definitely make the trek from phlugerville to here for all of my goodwill needs, wish I could give ten stars
Bought a DVD player, couldn’t get past the configuration because it had no remote, went to return it 9 days later with the receipt they said I couldn’t return it or get store credit after 7 days so basically they sold me a DVD player that doesn’t work.
Recent review: They changed locations to up the street where Savers use to be, now they have even higher prices and the auction items go for retail price. They have also added more employees which is good but there is this one seriously rude guy who pulls this blue bin back and forth constantly. He made it a point to shove his way through my little girl and I when we were at the checkout line closest to the door just so he could push 4 shopping carts together but didn't even put them inside the rack area? Then when he came back he shoved his way through my husband and I instead of just walking around us again. This time I told him to go around next time and not be rude, he started screaming at me telling me to get over myself. This guy is nuts to walk through people only a foot apart from each other instead of just walking around, we were at the checkout line checking out we were not in the middle of the aisle or anything.
Old review: Great place to shop, everyone is nice and helpful.would give 5 stars if Goodwill would update the womens bathroom for this store and it was kept clean.
My girlfriend did a silent bid on a bike, #80 today Saturday the 13th. I was in the area later on in the day so I decided to pop on in for the live auction to make sure she won the bike. I waited patiently as they started at 1 and worked their way to 80. Along the way she would describe the item and price and start the bid. If no one bid, the normal, going once going twice, sold to book. If someone bid she would go to the next highest dollar until no one bid, going once, going twice sold. So #80 finally comes up, i get it I have to wait, not the problem. She says #80 a bike, bid starts at $22. I did not bid because obviously my girlfriend has the silent bid at $21. Going once, going twice and then this gentleman steps in front on of me but does nothing. She stops and says "did you want to bid on the bike? " Not sure what he said if anything and she asks him again "did you want to bid on the bike? " I am standing right behind him, still not hearing anything. And then "sold for $22" no $23? , No, going once, going twice. None of that. I stepped up and asked "did you just sell the bike? " She said "yes" and quickly went to the next item not allowing to ask anything additional. I had talked to the man earlier and also after. Perfectly normal person so no reason for special treatment. I do not know if he was a friend or a regular but I left very upset, not even given a chance to bid. Very unhappy customer.
