Guadalupe Mountains National Park reviews
18Lots of hiking, but not a very large visitor center or extensive network of connecting roads into the mountains. Did enjoy the ranger greeting us before we parked!
In Texas there are really only two places one can go to get a good strenuous hike with some elevation/views as the reward. Those two places would be Guadalupe Mountains National Park & Big Bend. This is the second time I have visited Guadalupe Mountains and I love them. Coming from San Antonio the drive is a pain, but the hike is worth it.
I hiked Guadalupe peak which is listed as a strenuous hike and is 4miles in 4 miles out. I was able to complete the hike right around the 4hr mark. The first mile is rough but it’s not too bad after that. The views at the end make it absolutely worth it!
Free parking, very accessible. Quick pit stop right off road. Amazing drive through as well.
Good times with family! Friendly and knowledgeable park rangers and staff, clean facility, Junior Ranger Program available, and plenty of souvenirs in the gift shop. Will be back again to hike the trails!
Staff at the welcome center were a little overly worried about covid as they only let 6 people inside at a time, plus they weren't very helpful on choosing a trail to walk. Turns out this park is all trails and no driving to see sights, you would need a whole day to trek any of the trails worth seeing.
This is a gem of a national park for hiking! Not much else here but the scenery is great. We hiked Devil's Hall one day and McKittrich Canyon the next day to the grotto. Beautiful fall colors in the trees after the lodge.
Great National Park if you're into hiking. Beautiful scenery, but not much to do other than hiking.
September 2021: A nice park with limited opportunities if you are in a wheelchair. COVID protocols rigorously enforced at the entrance to the gift shop.
Wanted to go to the peak but sadly we arrived too late since the sun sets around 5-6 now and we still had to get back to the camp site to set up. So instead we did the devils hall which is a shorter hike. My friend and I did not know how strenuous it was because of all the rocks. We regretted a little towards the end because we thought we were lost until the very end when we ran into people who also thought they were lost. However, I would do that hike all over again. This park is beautiful and very well reserved. Camp site was very nice and there was enough space between the sites. The sky looked beautiful at night. Oh and the rangers were very kind. Would definitely go back
Wow, yes wear mask good camp beautiful ️ gorgeous what can say you have see to believe it

Great climb to the peak! Pack water and snacks. About 5-8 hr round trip depending on your speed. I've seen all ages doing it. It can be very dangerous if you have poor balance. Take your time and have fun!
We hiked here past the old frijole ranch. We were so surprised to pass through a wooded area with a stream. Especially beautiful.
So glad to visit our National Park! It was a bit chilly to hike far, but we enjoyed seeing what we could and driving around. It was too cloudy to see the stars at night and that was on objective not met. But one out of anyone's control.
Beautiful National Park. Very unique, very unusual ecosystems here. Look for Texas Madrone trees. Wildlife abounds, many plants found nowhere else. If you're ever traveling through this area, at the very least, stop at one of the scenic pullovers for a spectacular view of (the other) El Capitan.
Amazing mountains rising out of the high desert floor. Wish I had more time to hike the trails. Alliw at least half a day to explore
Perfect day for walking trails in this park. Highs in upper 60s.several trails of various difficulty available, but number of parking spaces is limited, so best to come early for parking, as well as temperature for walking in the desert. Overall a great day topped off with watching the bats emerge from Carlsbad Cavern for their nightly feeding. Parks are only about 30 miles apart.
Only went to Dog Canyon campground and not the visitors center. Since it's a 60 mile drive in and 60 miles back out the campground is almost deserted. Take hikes from the campground, it's absolutely gorgeous in that park. Make sure you have a reservation for a campground site before making the long drive in.
Amazing TX Mountain Trail! Home of the highest point of Texas - Guadalupe Peak (8508 ft s/ 2667m). You can hike, camp, RV picnicking here for $20/night. Seasonal hikers with passes enter free of charge. Depends on your preps and hike level, you can choose to go in as far as the Bowl, far behind the Guadalupe Peak.
