Hai Ky reviews
15Hai Ky has been around for many years. Its food is relatively inexpensive, delicious and in large portions. Everything is fresh. The interior is spare but clean and open. I highly recommend any dish, but their pho is excellent!
Was recommended the Hu Tieu Ap Chao when I asked the server and it has become one of my favorite meals! Portion sizes are large and food comes out quick!
Servers don't receive their tips, so only dine here if you want to stiff your server. The owners are pretty deplorable as well. Only dine here if you want the owners to pocket tips and spend them at Palazio's every night.
Hai Ky boasts a flavorful pho broth, with delicious appetizers as well. I have known a friend who brought a partner here and after eating here they confessed their love for one another. Was it their own timing or the crispy noodles? Seriously though I love pho and this was super tasty, definitely make a point to come and get a bowl!
Although the ambiance of the place is lacking a little, the food my g/f and I was served was perfectly cooked and delicious. First, we had the shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer. Then, I had vermicelli with egg rolls, and she had the pho with steamed vegetables.
I went here for lunch on a Tuesday. Very busy but not much of a wait for a seat. The spring rolls and peanut dipping sauce were basic. The peanut sauce was very watery & diluted, not a lot of flavor. The broth in my pho ga tasted good. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable but I would not go back again.
The food is the same. I only get one dish. I think it's #96 with the flat crispy noodles. The price jumped about 33%
Below average food when compared to other pho restaurants. Ordered the rare steak and brisket pho, shrimp spring rolls, pork dumplings, and crab Rangoon… except the crab Rangoon stuffing was only cheese. I think whoever made the batch made a mistake and didn’t realize the crab was not added. Overall everything was lacking flavor but I still felt the quality of ingredients were good for the price.
I order delivery frequently. Their pho always arrives piping hot and is very good. Love it.
I find that this restaurant is a hit or miss. Some days it's really fresh and good and other times meat is raw and food tastes spoiled. Spring rolls at times also have a weird taste.
I think I might give this one up. My pork was rawish. Maybe triple 8 for me.
Ordered delivery from here twice. First time food was OK and second time food was downright bad. Vermicelli bowl was mediocre, sesame chicken was over cooked, extremely citrusy, and it came with old over cooked rice. The spring rolls were so tough and dried out they were inedible.
Hai Kentucky is one of the best lunch spots in Southeast Austin. Check the menu for Specialities and if you're feeling saucy, get the #63. It's a value-priced ticket to Flavor Town.
Ordered veggie egg rolls and the pho 13. Took an additional 5 minutes after the scheduled pick up time to be ready. I couldn’t even bring myself to try the rolls (looks like they were frozen then poorly reheated with uncooked edges). I was enjoying the pho (nothing special, but it hit the spot after not having pho for awhile) until about halfway through I almost slurped a very long hair wrapped in the noodles. Appetite gone. Won’t be returning.
Im not a regular, but i have been going here for the past 10yrs or maybe more, and i love it, i live far from there now so i don't go that often anymore, but when im in the area i make a stop here and order my favorite Phad Thai (i think that's how you spell it) and an orage drink that i just tried the other day, i think is thai ice tea.
Please take off Crab Rangoons from the menu. They're made without a single care for taste. Even the sweet and sour sauce that came with them was so off I couldn't use it! If you're not going to make them properly, why even offer it?
