Harker Heights Pet Adoption Center

The friendliest pit pupp showed up in my house and killeen is so full! To give him a better chance to get adopted I took him there and they refused to help. They don't care for the animals. They are there for a paycheck.sad!

This is a no-kill adoption center, so some animals have been here a while already and need someone to bring them home ASAP! The staff are very kind to all their visitors both two- and four-legged, and no one there will BS you over an animal's behavior just to get you to adopt it. The facility is always clean, the building itself is brand new, and there's room to visit and play with your potential new best friends before deciding to bring them home.

Very nice people, very clean place, animals are well taken care of. I just adopted my new little girl Gigi, very loving, loves to give hugs, she's already spoiled!

Clean place and friendly staff. Luckily, most of the cats and kittens were adopted out already. They still had about 12 dogs.

Found a stray, brought him in to see if he had a chip. Helped me with a couple of things to help until we found the owner.

Very helpful, Assisted me with TNR process for a local stray. Love how easy it was to keep updated. Animals always look happy and healthy!

Found a injured squirrel in my back yard my dogs had tried to eat. I came out just in time to save him. He was terrified and injured. I was unable to receive help for the squirrel through Parks and Wildlife and a couple other places. Harker Heights Pet Adoption helped me and was able to take the little guy.

About a week ago I found 2 abandoned dogs that the owners had moved out and left behind. It was a mama and her pup. I took them to the Harker Heights shelter and they were wonderful. They took good care of these babies. ️. I hope they get put up for adoption to a loving forever home.

Very kind and knowledgeable staff greet you with a smile.
And if you've lost your pet this is the place to check first. Yes it will cost money to reclaim your pet but at least you know they are not still out roaming unknown territory and could possibly be stolen or hurt. They gladly accept any donations too! Anything from blankets (especially with the cooler weather approaching), toys, collars, and food. Lots of food! Great place and very clean too.

I adopted a stray kitten from there and the process was super fast and easy. The adorable babies come fixed and vaccinated so it cost less to adopt from harker heights adoption center then anywhere else. I love my new kitten poki and he is the sweetest thing ever

I adopted a 2 year old Staffie. I was aloud in the back. Very clean. Nice volunteers were helping too. Helped get my new dog to my car. Very nice place to adopt. I was in and out with my new fur baby in probably 30 minutes. I will definitely return in the future. I will recommend it to friends who want to adopt.

We adopted a Dalmatian Mix Girl and she is a great addition to our family. Got our baby on free adoption day. Very busy day as there were over 20 families taking advantage of this great opportunity. Everything went smooth and we were blessed to find this girl who was spayed and microchipped. Big sweet happy healthy girl! We fell in love with her instantly! Thank you guys so much!

I love the crew they have here! All of the people are friendly and super informative! You can really tell they care for every animal they have.

I think Harker Heights Animal Shelter really cares for thier fur babies and I trust in them to donate things for the Loving & Beautiful Babies. I use to donate Blankets, food, and much more, but not to happy how they treat thier babies.its so sad to think that when you bring things for these innocent scared fur babies it would go them them because that's who they are for, but no I think the crew takes them home for them self. Looking g in the Kennals where all the poor dogs stay doesn't look very pleasant and they Don't have a heart to care for them. So I give Harker Heights Animal Shelter a 5 rating because I can Trust that if I donate things I know it's going to them Precious babies. They Deserve the very Best! Thank you Harker Heights Animal Control/ Adoption you are much Appreciated! I see the videos that are taken with all these Precious animals having free time in the pool and in that fence area. Makes my heart happy to see these babies smile.its already sad for some of them to be neglected from there owners so to see how much you all care for them make the community look ready good. We need alot more of People that choose a career to take care of all type of animals and care for them not just for a pay check.it take special people like you all to care for an Abandoned, Abuse, Neglected Fur Babies! Amazing animal shelter! We adopted Catherine, a year old cat and she is so happy to be home. The staff are amazing and their love for the animals is clear. Homeless man even came in and asked if his dog could stay with them for a few days due to the heat and they gladly accepted. Staff was very gentle with the animals and gave us an overview of her personality to make sure she’d get along with our other cats and she’s doing great. The cages are very adequate and clean. They even gave us a few toys to take home for her. Animals seem well taken care of and I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for a pet! #adoptdontshop

Very friendly and helpful staff. Neat and clean. We have not actually adopted from them, but we would not hesitate if we were in the market to adopt.
