Harold's Restaurant, Bar, & Terrace reviews
18 Had my daughter's birthday party here recently. It was my first time visiting this establishment. The managers (Caleb, Hector, and Evelyn) and staff was absolutely wonderful.
I don't know how many people would show up for the party, so I didn't make a reservation. Despite that fact, the managers secured enough tables for my guest, and our waitress was great! She really worked with our and 15 kids and made the whole experience incredible. The food was great, too!
My daughter was totally delighted and truly enjoyed her birthday party. I can't the Harold's staff enough for making her day special.
My husband and I went to Harold’s for the fist time this morning for brunch. It is Restaurant Week so we were happy to have the three courses. Unfortunately, that’s where any excitement ended. I ordered the Big Nasty Biscuit and it was truly one of the worst dishes I have ever had. The food was literally cold, the chicken was thin, over battered and burned. The gravy might have been ok, had it been hot, and the biscuit was so dry it took a drink of water to get it down. Three bites and that was it.
My husband had the Big Breakfast and the sausage looked like shoe leather and he said tasted like it also. So sad.
It was my first time visiting Harold's and I will definitely be returning! The restaurant as a whole, feels like a blast from the past with its upstairs and downstairs bar, vintage stair case and entry way and just the overall feel once you walk in. The staff is courteous and polite. The bartender that served us was new but was warm and friendly. The food was tasty. I ordered the shrimp po boy with a side of gumbo and both were delightful without weighing you down. I also ordered a Bellini cocktail and it was tasty and really, only need one to enjoy myself. They have a lovely deck too, perfect for a lunch date or solo date. And you can look out over 19th street. I was enjoying myself so much I didn't get enough pics! But when I return, will definitely snap some more.
Food was subpar, actually my wife threw it up. The service wasn’t great we stood for quite awhile waiting to be seated when it wasn’t busy at all. Anything we tried to order they didn’t have, just don’t go trust me.
Update- Yes we dined there yesterday, I don’t know what to say they just kept telling us things weren’t available. Maybe we just had a random bad experience.
Dairymaids cheeseboard could use a little upgrade. Cheeses were swiss, pepperjack and cheddar (pretty boring imo) but Donny is the best What a sweet guy. He goes above and beyond and made our time there so enjoyable bonus points for a/c units in the patio!
Hidden gem! Located in the Old Heights! I love the vibe of this place. There’s a downstairs bar and upstairs has seating indoor and outdoor. I also was pleased to see there were fans on the deck as well!
I really enjoyed the brunch menu, it was definitely cajun inspired. They had a special on mimosa carafes for $15! I also had a perfect bloody mary!
Definitely would return. I recommend reserving a table for brunch.
I had a really wonderful time here for my birthday dinner. The food was immaculate in every way. Me and my family ended up ordering three appetizers along with our entrees. Highly recommend the chicken or the egg and the crawfish fondue. Our waiter was very attentive, sweet and funny. Thank you and will be visiting again.
Enjoyed a wonderful date night at Harold’s last night. We selected from the HRW menu and it was all delicious. The grilled peaches and fruit on the peach salad was refreshing and the shrimp and grits dish is really good! It’s not too rich. The old-fashioned was perfect as well as the fried chicken dinner my husband ate. The Mac and cheese is so smooth and creamy. Best of all is the food is not salty! Service was excellent from the moment we walked until until we left. I highly recommend!
OMG! Just had the KGs fried chicken dinner at Harold's in the heights. With freshly made macaroni and cheese and the most delicious collard greens I've ever had! This dinner was hands down. One of the best I've ever had. My compliments to Harold's and the chef. It was delicious! Highly recommend!
Harold's hosted a gathering of over 20 family members, set up a long table for us near the windows, worked with me on menu choices, and executed everything perfectly. Food and service were top-notch. Everyone in our party, Houstonians and those visiting from other states, raved about our memorable meal together.
Found this gem and enjoyed an evening out for our dinner while in Houston. I had the fish and chips and my husband had the fried chicken. Food was good, only complaint is the flies that got in as the outside terrace door opened. The drinks were good and the food was good.
The look of the restaurant and atmosphere was great. Our waiter was awesome, the food was very mediocre! Very little to no seasoning, only paprika. The desserts and appetizers are over priced for the small portion sized presented. The fried cauliflower was a decent portion sized but veryyyy bland. The greens were not cleaned properly and the chopped bacon in the greens were either old or undercooked. The food was very disappointing
Enjoyed the restaurant week’s menu: 3 course lunch with choice of starter, main and dessert. Delicious and on point from the start!
I opted for the “Chicken or the Egg” appetizer - deviled eggs topped with fried chicken bite.
I continued with my chicken theme for lunch and devoured the “fried chicken & mash” a boneless breast atop mashed potatoes and topped with a white, pork-sausage gravy. Sautéed vegetables complete the plate. The zucchini and squash were delicious!
I opted to take the dessert to go … a perfect sized portion of their chocolate layered cake.
Friendly, attentive service at a great Heights location!
Our waiter Michael was a delight to have. He was very patient with us as we were waiting for another person. He was very personable and engaging. Michael kept us laughing and entertained the time we were there.
Harold's food is really delicious, they do however advertise a vegetarian plate and I loved it bit it was way different than what I got. Ask Jorge to be your server because he took care of it in a pinch and brunch was saved.definitely go to Harold's and if something is off let them know because they live their customers!
Really enjoyed eating upstairs with a view of the classic heights area. Very clean and nicely decorated. Food was delicious. We came at lunch so it was too hot to sit on the patio but will come back for happy hour next time once it gets cooler out. I took a star off because the service was sooo slow. Only one other table that had already finished eating by the time we were sat. Took us over an hour.
Today I was there to get some brunch.
I ordered the eggs Benedict with the meat.
It was terrible!
The brisket was so tough and sliced incorrectly.
It had no flavor.
The biscuit was so tough that I couldn’t eat it.
I had to ask for hollandaise sauce because it had none.
Very disappointed.
Great place! Decided to go on a trip from some friends. It was our first time and it won't be the last. We sat at the bar, which is what we like to do and our bartender was very cordial and made a killer Bloody Mary. The food was Fantastic and it is Definitely on our list of restaurants to frequent.
