Dr. Haygood is a super primary doctor. I miss being his patient but I now live in another state and I will not be able to move back to Texas.

My name is Jonathan Davis and I was a patient Dr Haygoods his office is trash now doesn't care if you run out of your medication and die still the same answer say get back to you never call back can't even set an appointment.the reception is Megan just put you on hold won't answer anything says she can't won't even give you a price or a time to set up an appointment just keep saying they'll call you back and they never do and this is from Dr haygood himself he doesn't care about you getting a refill your prescription can run out and you could die from it he don't care. I don't know what happened to him he used to be good now probably the worst doctor I've dealt with.
There is hundreds of other doctors in Tyler and I would almost say any other one is better than this one if you want to actually see the doctor and know that you're going to be able to get refills on your medication before you get sick

Absolutely love Dr. Haygood and his staff! I’ve been seeing him for about 5 years now, and my family and friends started seeing him too shortly after I did, because he wants to be there for you and your whole family. You can bring any problem to him, and he’ll do everything he can. He is your quintessential small-town doctor (born and raised in Tyler), and he does a fantastic job taking care of me and my whole family. He’s got a personal touch that you just can’t find nowadays. He’s easily accessible (unlike the doctors I’ve had that work for hospital systems) and he always does an excellent job of returning calls, answering questions and working us in when we need it. He’s never said, “I’m too busy to see you today. ” If it’s an emergency, he doesn’t hesitate to work us in. Trust me, if you’re looking for a personable, knowledgeable, and no-BS primary care practitioner, you’ll love him!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Haygood for almost 10 years. He’s helped me when I was struggling mentally, helped me when I with physical problems, & he even helped my baby when she needed stitches & the ER in tyler refused to do it, saying I would have to go to a plastic surgeon in Dallas (she is perfect & you’d never know she had stitches.)

He is empathetic, smart, & will shoot you straight. I always go to him for a second opinion when specialists tell me one thing, because I value his opinion even when it’s not his specialty.

There is no better physician in tyler.

I have been with Dr. Ken Haygood for 10 years but I am no longer a patient at East Texas Family Medical for multiple reasons. (If you would like more details please reach out.) The primary reason is because I am non compliant for not wanting to do bloodwork every 6 months for my high cholesterol. I also take amphetamine for ADHD (adderall) which is a controlled substance.

I didn’t like how the cholesterol medicine made me feel so I asked for a natural way to reduce cholesterol. I was told there wasn’t an option, a pill was the only way and if I took the pill I could eat whatever I wanted. I asked Dr. Haygood if I could take a Pharmacogenetics Test (PGx) which identifies my specific genetics and notates which types of pharmaceuticals would and would not work for my genetic make up. Dr. Haygood states PGx test do not work and wanted to continue retesting every 6 months even though we got the same results every time. Dr. Haygood even accused me of trying to kill myself by not taking my cholesterol medicine. At this point I decided I did not want to continue bloodwork every 6 months for no reason but I still needed my adderall prescription. With adderall being a controlled substance Dr. Haygood states he has to do routine check ups to ensure I’m taking my prescription. Yet I was never asked to come in for routine check ups for my controlled substance. However, since I am electing not to do bloodwork every 6 months for my cholesterol Dr. Haygood has removed me as a patient of ETX Medical and they will no longer treat me.

Personally I feel like this family practice is ran like a business instead of a healthcare institution. Over 10 years I have asked for natural ways to reduce cholesterol, ADHD, etc… each and every time I have been presented with a pill that will fix all my problems and then required to come back for “routine check ups” to collect insurance money rather than find out what’s causing the issues. I believe I was not bringing in enough insurance money for the clinic and I was removed to make room for someone who didn’t care if insurance was abused.
