Such a nice peaceful place to do a little fishing or just pass time. Only wish they had restrooms that were closer to the river side.

There are a few neat spots around this park as far as hiking and walking go. The hawk observation deck gives a great view of the area. There is a small observation deck that looks out over the pond. A bit further down, there is a boardwalk near the river that has some gorgeous trees covered in spanish moss.
There isn't much in the way of actual trails though. You're mostly just walking on the road.
Lots of water around, so be sure to bring bug spray. The mosquitoes are fierce. And watch out for fire ants too. While we were reading the sign for the Boy Scout trail, our feet got covered in them!

We come by this neat area often. Kids playground, nature trails. Fishing. Well taken care of.

Javelina, ducks, hawks, shorebirds, deer…the park was full of activity today! They are adding plenty of amenities and sectioning off certain areas. It has cleaned up a lot in the last several years.

About 2 mile loop were you can see the Nueces River. A great spot to view a variety of birds along with deer and javelina.
