Dr. Akins is Amazing! She is a true definition of a Doctor with great bed side manner. She takes her time and does not rush especially during this pandemic period. She will explain all your lab results to you in details, very personable, easy to talk to and she sends you home with notes from your visit. I have definitely found my Doctor here in Texas! If you need a Doctor trust me Dr. Akins is great physician you won’t regret choosing her.

Dr Akins, Angel, and the staff have cared for my family for a few years now. The office has always taken great care of us. I rarely wait longer than 10 minutes, and my routine appts go quickly and easily. I genuinely feel that Angel and Dr Akins do care about my and my family’s health. I usually have to go to appts with my young kids, and the staff helps me with them and are patient with them, so that I can get the care I need.

Five stars for Dr. Akins, Angel, Angela, Lauren and the rest of the back and front office/reception team. Everyone (with the exception of one, which I will get to) is professional and respectful of your time. I’ve had my medical concerns handled really well and from angles that haven’t be approached by other health care providers. There have been some mishaps with communication, but they were corrected without incident (on their part and mine). If I've ever had to wait, I know there was a good reason, and apologies to follow.

Now for the exception.the “office manager” (I think her name is Susan). The few times I've had to interact with her left me underwhelmed and dissatisfied. It's been my experience that she is not as gracefully as a person who serves as “a face” to a service provider should be (not only with me, as I sit in the waiting room I hear her talk with two other patients. She was nice to one, and not so much to the other). It’s been my experience that she “listens to answer” rather than listening to hear what patients really have to say.

One of my interactions had to deal with a pretty sizable refund owed me (over $1000). She informed me that their accountant comes in every two weeks, and I should expect my money after that. Three to four weeks later (at my next scheduled appointment) I got my check. Shortly after my appointment I received a statement in the mail. I found it interesting that she could send me a bill for four dollars, but couldn't bother to send me a check for over a thousand? In retrospect, she could’ve been worried about mail theft. She also could’ve called me and let me know the check was ready so I could decide whether to pick the check up before my appointment, have her mail it, or wait until my next visit. The decision really should have been mine.

There was another interaction with her that left me upset, not with the outcome, as I was mistaken. Here it was about more about the word she chose rather than the message she was trying to convey. I said her at all costs.

I called and got in the next day. Front desk was kind and detail oriented. My nurse was so kind and comforting. She was very relatable. I was very grateful for her today. Dr. Akins was very kind, easy to talk to, and understanding! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a new Dr!

I don't care what "health grades" web page has to say. I love having Dr Akins as my primary. She was my doc for several years then we mi ed away for three. When I knew we were moving back, I made sure to call & they reinstated me as a patient, when they weren't accepting new ones. Even if she seems to be in a rush she still answers my questions, and makes recommendations for my better health. I won't switch docs unless I'm forced to!

I had not been to the doctor in a while and needed to find someone that I would like and someone that would not mind me taking a list of issues that I had. Well, I went to my appointment and the staff was very nice, I spoke with Dr. Akins PA for about 30 minutes, she was taking all my concerns down and did not rush me at all. Then she said the Dr.will be right in, and she was! I didn't have to wait like I thought I was going to have to wait. So then I spent the next hour talking to the doctor about all my health issues and what we should do. She was very attentive, listened to all my concerns and questions and was very caring.again I never felt rushed like other doctors sometimes. They did some office procedures in the office that same day and I have my follow up appointment in a month! I love this doctor and could recommend her to any of my friends and family.as a matter of fact, my husband is going to see her next week! You will be very happy if you go see Dr. Akins!

I have not been to a more competent, caring, and empathetic doctor of any discipline than Dr. Akins. She is not just practicing medicine, but wellness for her patients. She takes a full look at the patient, asks great questions, and is even willing to admit when a current course of action needs to be changed. I have been with her for over 5 years and I cant see being with another doctor. Dr. Akins is the greatest.
