Hill Country Hobby, San Antonio TX

I've been going to David's (Gary sold it) LHS for the last 9 years and hopefully more years in the future. He has one of the best selections and variety of kits, accessories, literature and paints. Not only is he knowledgeable about the hobby and the tools needed. Great place for all ages.

I've only been here a couple time. They have a great selection on modeling tools but are lacking in models. The prices are ok compared to online prices. I'm ok with paying a few buck more to get it ASAP. Customer service is seriously lacking. The first time there, I was a fish out of water. There was one employee who just sat at the desk. At no point was I approached to offer help. I guess most people know what they're looking for. For me it seems like a quarterly visit location. There are better places to get models but this is the best place for paints and tools.

Of the 8 or 9 times I've been, they've only been open maybe 1 or 2 of the times. I always came on a day they said they would be open, but there would be a yellow paper sign on the door saying "We're closed! " Frustrating, but the couple times I did make it in when they were open, their selection was either lackluster or decent. Most of the kits they did have were either expensive or ones that would not interest the common kit builder. They have a great paint and accessories selection that competes with the other larger stores in the SA area. I wish they had more common kits, and a better range of scales.

When you're out shopping deals and bargains. You gotta look everywhere. Nice place.

A wonderful place for the serious scale-modeler with a great selection of kits, ditto for paint selection (AK, Tamiya, Vallejo, etc.) and essential tools, too. The new owner is super-knowledgeable and helpful, and I'm glad he's been able to weather the economic storm. This is a unique niche business.

Busy place in town to find Tamaya, Molotov, Vallejo, and so many more brands for customizing any scale project. Excellent customer service to boot!

Owner is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A great locally-owned business that will get my business.

Owner walked around the store with me, helping me choose a bunch of gear for my first time painting models, and gave great advice for it all.
Also, they have a fair amount of Warhammer 40k models and other Citadel brand items if you don't want to go the WB Store on the north side of San Antonio.
Also, dog is cute.

They have a large variety of plastic model kits, paints, specialty detail parts and decals. They also have a large selection of tools to work with. The guy I spoke to was friendly and have me some helpful advice for different model building techniques.

I love this place. It’s a wonderful old school hobby shop. A trip down memory lane. A whole lot of models and miniatures of every description and price range. If they don’t have it they’ll do everything possible to find it and always at very reasonable prices. It’s run by a very friendly and knowledgeable man with years of experience in the art of assembling, painting and the presentation of models. For an old school modeler, like me, it feels like home. Fun for the whole family.

This is a small hobby place but they sell model kits including cars, gundams, etc at reasonable prices compared to other places. Owner is friendly towards customers and the corgi Finlay will definately sell u something.

Awesome customer service, this is always a great place to visit. The only bad thing about this place is deciding what to buy and what my spening limit should be!

I’ve never wanted to give a place seven out of five stars but their selection is fantastic. I feel very blessed that we have a vendor like this in town.

Always love this place. A great little shop with tons of models from gundam, tanks, cars and more. You can find just about anything you need to work on your models. Support little shops and check them out. I can almost guarantee you will be back again.
