Hill County Northbound Safety Rest Area reviews
26Who thought it was a great idea for truck drivers in a hurry to have to walk that far? Purely esthetic, not user friendly.
Always clean…beautiful place to stop to stretch your legs or to buy a snack or two or to use the restroom ️only thing is they don’t have doggie bags in case you run out of them when traveling
Very unusual for Texas - full-range rest area. Clean restrooms, vending machines, covered picnic area, kids playground. Cool interiors. Love it!
This is an awesome rest area. Plenty of restroom stalls. Always very clean restrooms, several vending machines to buy snacks, and an information kiosk. A really great place to stop for a while, stretch your legs and relax before hitting the road again.
Many areas cordoned off and inaccessible with many, many travelers on hand. Toilets out of order, doors not usable at entrance/exit to building.
We stopped in here to use the restrooms, which were superbly spacious and very clean. Walked around the facility to stretch our legs and were impressed with the overall presence of the rest area.
Is so nice to be traveling in Texas I'm from Ok la and for some reason we can not afford rest areas.smh yours is beautiful
Clean, wide open spaces, no trash, spotless bathrooms! Amazing place to stop and stretch your legs!
Extremely well kept! Thank you for the clean ladies room, and for the dogs a place to poo, yep I picked up my girls poo! Rock on!
What a great rest stop. Great, clean restrooms- and plenty of them too! Landscapes with Texas natives with a great western motif. It could easily be designated as a Destination Location. There is so much too see. 35 is so busy and most cars fly by unaware of the treasure available using the tax dollars of Texans. Schedule a stop. You won’t be sorry.
One of the best rest areas I have visited. The bathrooms are inside an old silo, which makes for interesting architecture. There are signs indoors and outdoors with interesting history and geography tidbits about the area and a couple different exercise/playground areas with suggestions of things to get your travel kinks out. Also, there is a solid vending machine variety, picnic tables, and plenty of room to walk around with or without a pet.
We stopped at this location when we were headed north, and then again on the opposite side of the highway when we were headed south a couple of days later.
Clean restrooms. Extremely windy the day I was there. Like they could install wind farm level winds. Watch out for anything light in your car, my mom lost a whole bag of chips not paying attention.
Probably the best rest area I've travelled too! Peaceful at night plenty of parking for trucks & cars. Bathrooms were super clean. I definitely appreciate the travel information inside.very informative.

As far as rest stops though, it’s a pretty nice one… I wish there was some more time to check it out but I just didn’t have the time.
Always clean and taken care of. Large outdoor area with picknick tables and grass to walk your dog. Vending machines with a variety of snacks and drinks is a plus.
I thought this would be a good place to stop and let the dog out, stretch your legs or use the pretty clean bathrooms.
There are vending machines inside that I don’t completely understand with elaborate gas station/convenience stores every few miles and there were no dog waste bags. There were several picnic tables not in use and an exercise station.
While newer and safe feeling, it does seem like a lot of tax dollars invested in a necessity from a bygone era. Lots of 18-wheelers so it’s nice they have a free spot to rest I guess.
Maybe a big fenced area for dogs with supplies and a playground for kiddos.
Like it, plenty of parking and large restrooms. A "wonderful" place in the time of need.
The location is clean and my kids really liked the play area. It's confusing to me though, these "safety" rest areas with the storm shelters. You have to somehow know ahead of time, there's a tornado right near this rest stop, you yourself have to be right near this rest stop, and it has to be right at the time that the tornado is coming. It feels to me like one of those insurance policies in Looney Toons where there has to be a hailstorm at 3pm on the 4th of July in order to be of any use.
