Himari, Houston TX

This place has outrageous prices for middle of the road sushi. I was literally shocked when I went for lunch and the least expensive special was $30 and the most common negiri was $6 for ONE piece. Holy cow. For prices like this you should just go to Kata Robata, a James Beard recognized sushi restaurant that's maybe 5 miles from here. These folks are way too proud of what they're serving.

Very neighborhood casual, easy to park and easy to find a reservation. Quality of the food it's pretty good. Their edamame it's pretty spectacular. The fish is good and they have a good variety

Have been here 6 times, has been excellent every time. Glad to have it near by in the Garden Oaks / Oak Forest neighborhood.

I recently came here with a few friends after looking on yelp for a quick bite.
Two words: just, wow.

Our server Alvin was kind enough to suggest some amazing cocktails.
He kept our dining experience highly elevated and made us feel very welcome.

If you guys have a chance to stop in and request Alvin, do it in a heartbeat!

Himari is such an incredible neighborhood sushi spot and by far the best in the area. The fish is really high quality and the options are plentiful. Whether you like rolls, nigiri, or sashimi they’ve got you covered.

I absolutely love everything about Himari! Everything from the food to the drinks to the music to the atmosphere was perfection!
Tony, provided a stellar experience! He was courteous, knowledgeable, prompt and had excellent recommendations. You could tell he had pride in the quality of food service and the company.
This was hands down some of the best sushi I've had in Houston.
The location is great and offer something for everyone. Going on a date? Perfect! Sit upstairs. Do you have kids? No problem! Have a seat outside enjoy your sushi while the kids play on the green. Do you want to gather with friends and enjoy great food and drinks? All alone? Eat at the sushi bar. No matter what, you have found your place!

This is my new favorite sushi restaurant! It makes me want to have sushi more often! The environment, the service and the food was 5 stars! Welcome to the neighborhood! We are so happy to have you here.

Really great experience. Creative and quality are top notch. We came for the Taste of Garden Oaks event and ate from the prefix menu. We will need to come back and explore other options. We had the GBG Salmon and Yellow Fin Tuna. Grilled shishito peppers and asparagus and the tuna roll. All was fresh and delicious. Service was lovely!

So we decided to stop in on Labor Day and give this place a shot. We normally go in town to Osaka on lower Westheimer where the portions are generous and the prices fair or even Jellyfish on Ella again where it is a god value with great service.
Well, we each had a sashimi dish and a roll, along with an appetizer. First of all the three thinly cut sashimi pieces were equivalent to one piece of sashimi in other restaurants, the rolls were also bite size. The nigiri is a single piece were as most restaurants serve 2 pieces. The service was ok but not great.
Total was $70 before tip. We won't be coming back here. We left hungry and $100 lighter in our pockets for a less than satisfying dining experience.

This was definitely one of the best sushi places we have ever been to.
We started with the Tropical Tuna and edamame. Both spectacular. Edamame is usually a filler nothing special, but this edamame was charred and flavored with yuzu (maybe) for a really pleasant and comforting flavor.
Then we had the Philadelphia role, very good.
The Crispy Tuna was next, it was truly unique and so flavorful.
Last we had the Surf & Turf which was perfectly torched and a perfect finisher.

They have a few vegetarian options in every category. A few premium beer and sake options and canned sodas.

The soy sauce also tasted homemade, but didn’t confirm.

Tony was our waiter and he was great! Perfect explanation of the menu and very helpful when it came time to decide.

Went on a Friday night and it was packed. Glad we made reservations ahead of time. The quality of the fish was outstanding across the board but in almost every dish the sauce and/or seasoning was either muted or overpowering. Lastly, I think the sashimi portion sizes were a bit stingy for the price. I’ll give Himari another shot in a few months since they seemed to have just opened.

Had a great meal at Himari. Started with edamame which is fire grilled not steamed, I loved it! For rolls we had the salmon, the smoke is yours, and crispy tuna (my favorite). The atmosphere cozy and clean. The chairs are very comfortable, which matters to me. Overall I think this is a great addition to the GOOF and we will be back again.

Very nice spot. Menu doesn't offer the typical sushi or egg rolls but the surf and turf was awesome. Enjoyed the mixed tempura the sauce is not sweet but they are delicious.

Really loved our experience and time here. It’s a nice sushi restaurant with really unique specialty rolls (crispy tuna!). Highly recommend, especially for a nice date away from the kiddos.:)

Best sushi in garden oaks / oak forest and not even close. Very high quality fish, excellent tempura. Go visit, you won’t regret it!
