Honest Indian vegetarian restaurant McKinney reviews
18Swaminarayan or Jain Food is good but portions are very small. Never saw such less quantity for the price being charged at any Honest branches in US. Plus 1 for the bakery section which is good as well.
We ordered a half sheet pineapple eggless cake from here last week and it was just amazing. We and all of our guests loved it. I would give 10/10 for taste, freshness and look. We will definitely order cakes from here in future.
Wait time is too long on weekends. They told 20mins and I had to wait for more than 1 hr for 2 Naans & Panner butter masala.
If you have a seat close to the door, you will feel hot/cold outside the weather constantly as the door opens and closes. Otherwise food and service are the same as the others.
Honest is famous for it’s Indian chaat (street food) and the occasional vegetarian entrees. This time around, I saw something peculiar in the menu and wanted to try it out; the weekend Thali.
We visited this place on a weekend night and I must say this was packed with people and the wait time was hovering over 20 minutes. We were a party of 4 and were contemplating whether to dine in or take out but allure of the Thali hooked us all in to wait it out.
The Thali consisted of 2 curries (paneer + potato and eggplant), rice, dal, papad, choice between roti and naan paired with a desert. They also have a la carte menu along with desert menu which consists of cakes and pastries. Talking purely about the thali, the food was fresh and delicious. Honest, despite being so famous for it’s appetizers and chaat offerings, surprised all of us with this thali. Everything on the plate was so yum that we finished every last bit of food on the plate.
Despite not being a traditional Thali place, the food offered was above the mark, and frankly, exceptional. Another plus was the service here; impeccable. From start to finish the servers were attentive and courtious.
Even though the food was the main selling point here, not everything is perfect about this particular location. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and feels congested; the tables are arranged very close to each other and there’s barely any room to walk around. The parking situation also is limited. If you happen to be at this place during the weekends like we did, expect a long wait time.
Honest impressed me with it’s Thali and the impressive service. Everything was fantastic and the price was very reasonable. Although the restaurant feels a bit cramped, the food more than out-weights the flaw. The weekend thali is an easy recommendation and can be enjoyed with family, friends and colleagues alike.
I was one of the person who initially provided 5 star review to this place. However, after couple of recent experience I am dropping the rating. Take outs are missing items which get so frustrating. Last time i was in the area so I stopped at the restaurant and ordered pani puri and sandwiches. Took the food home and saw that its was missing the water that comes with puri. Also missing the ketchup packets for sauce. The other time bhatura channa was suppose to come with gulab jamun and it was missing from the take out order. I asked to pack yogurt separately from chaat, guess what.the yogurt was missing. The restaurant does not check the items while packing.
Must try items:
Dabeli
Tandoori roti with butter
Any Paneer gravy
Masala papad
All sandwiches
Vada pav
They have a best food and service specially I would like to mention my server Martin excellent guy amazing customer service I received highly recommend this place to go and enjoy you Martin
Generally I don’t comment negatively, but this time I couldn’t resist myself.
I had this experience earlier as well, but ignored purposefully.
When you have specific time to close the restaurant then why are you pressuring customers to place your order in 2 mins, kitchen is closing soon, ideally you should not allow the customer to enter, as anyways you don’t care or need of any customers.
The lady on reception counter is bit rude while allocating tables to customers.
Hygiene of the place is degrading day by day.
Waiters are specifically reminding about tips.we know when to give tip and when to avoid…
This was the last time we visited Honest, honestly, thank you!
Surprisingly delicious vegetarian food. Tried kattappa sandwich which was really tasty and in good quantity. Soup and gobhi paraya was amazing. Great service too
Looking at the images and all felt like one would get Mumbai style street food and end up ordering here. Ordered pav bhaji and vada pav. One thing we need to compromise is on pav it’s not the same other wise the taste of bhaji, vada with lehsun chutney was very authentic.
Food safety violation!
We are strictly vegetarian and have limited choices for good pure veg restaurants in this area. We are regular customer to this place and are in SHOCK today.
Found an ALIVE COCKROACH in our water pitcher. My wife stopped my younger one as he poured his glass of water and about to drink it.
After complaining to workers they apologized and went back to their business. I asked to escalate to owner and they said will do. As I saw that no one cares about this issue, I found the owner myself and shared this with him. He seems like a decent guy, he explained how his restaurants follows cleanliness protocols and assured this won't happen again. Also, shared that he has never this happen in last 5 years.
All of this did upset our fun evening: (
Hope this is never repeated with anyone else.
We love, love, love Honest McKinney! A great assortment of super tasty Indian cuisine. We always get masala dosa, veg hakka noodles, papdi chat, and Manchurian medley. Martin is amazing - he always has a smile on his face and also always remembers our special request. Thanks, Martin and thanks, Honest!
Lots of parking. We ordered spring dosa was great. Wasn't a fan of Manchurian gravy. Pav bhaji was good. The sandwich we ordered was pretty good! I think it was the Bombay sandwich. Chaat was great!
Tried few items and were good. Liked the pav bhaji, Vada Pav, noodles.
Didn’t like the raj kachori - they added chole gravy in it which was not expected. They replaced it.
Quality food.
We did catering for our parties multiple times from honest.every time food was fresh, delicious and appropriate quantity.
Honestly the most dishonest restaurant…. In the name of manchow you will get tangy tomato water…. Korma had non boiled veggies with sugar water…. Pathetic food…quality has went from 100 to 5 in last 6 months…. Please if you want to waste your money waste at any other restaurant than this one.
One of the worst Honest restaurants i have ever been.just don’t recommend anyone to specially whoever is not from Dallas and come here with lots of expectations. Just avoid and try something else
