Matthew was amazing! Super knowledgeable and helped me out in deciding which camera to purchase for my needs (Sony a7iv). I’ve bought a few things before here too and always had an excellent experience.

Been a few times with some issues with a camera we use at work. They worked with me, and my budget, to get a suitable replacement and even showed me how to use it.

I have to admit. It was nice going to a store to buy my new camera setup and binoculars. I also traded in my existing camera and received a very fair offer. The staff expertise was great and I could tell they really cared that I got what I needed. I have no doubt if I have any issues or questions they will be there to support me. Great experience.

I can appreciate how hard it is to own a brick and mortar business in the face of competition from big online retailers, but I tried to sell a used camera here and they offered me about 1/3 of the value that the camera is actually worth. For reference, an excellent condition used A7R3 on B&H is over $2000, HCE offered me $750. So I definitely don’t think they give you good value when buying your old cameras, you would be better off selling directly on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.

This is a small business compared to best buy or whatever. The selection of cameras is not comparable. They have everything! The staff were warm and friendly. They were very knowledgeable and honest. They helped me find a pretty good camera for a pretty good price. They taught me about it. This was the best shopping experience I've had in a long time. I will definitely come back for anything else I need.

Very knowledgeable and very helpful staff. If they don't have what you want they will inform you on where and how to get it. Great experience every time.

Called store to discuss lenses availability, was told lens’s we were looking for was $99. Drove across Houston nearly 40 minutes only to be told by the lady we spoke to that “I must’ve misspoke. ” Then when we made clear we had no interest in buying a $3000+ brand new camera she says to us with a laugh “well my be just a hobby then” and proceeded to be on cell phone while we continued to try to look. Very disappointed in our experience there and will not be back

Best selection in Houston. Occasional decent sales and tax holidays. They don't pressure you to buy new and have been happy to help me with the five used cameras I've purchased there over the last 25 years.
Ask for Bernie. His knowledge is vast, his patience is unlimited and his beside manner is exemplary.

I purchased a camera and lens last year for around $900.

I never really used it as much as I wanted to and decided to resell it back to Houston camera. Figured since they are local and were nice when I purchased from them, they would take care of me. Boy was I wrong.

My camera and lens were in the same if not better condition then when purchased and I was offered 100. I was told this was based on the condition and what they would sell it for blah blah blah. It was after this offer that I told the guy that made the offer that I purchased everything from them in December for $900 and wanted to go back to them cause they were nice but did not expect such a cruel offer. I was expecting atleast 300-400 for both camera and lens and I would have been okay with that since I understand they also need to turn a profit.

I sold the camera alone somewhere else 3 days later for $400 and still have the lens in case I need it.

Disappointing experience.

It's a cool place unfortunately the salesman will try to sell you the highest item in the place. Always go with what they suggest then hit Amazon for cheaper.

Had a ton of issues with purchasing through them online, the guy from customer service was friendly but didn't actually help at all. Still waiting from the call from the general manager days/messages later. Took my money elsewhere.

I heart this place. I buy my photography stuff most of the time online. But if it’s the same pricing and I’d pick it up right away. Why not.
