Houston Garden Center reviews
23At Christmas they only had the scrawniness trees, went today for vegetable garden plants and they only had a few dead-looking ones. This used to be my go-to place but they've really give downhill
I didn't find any plants I could use but they had plenty to choose from just not what I was looking for. The prices also seemed high, didn't see any bargains. No difference than going to Lowe's or home depot.
Houston Garden Center has been my go to place for plants of all kinds for a few decades. Even when we lived out of town, I would shop HGC when I visited the area. Last week after the "unprecedented winter storm" a friend from the San Antonio area came to visit looking for shrubs. She said the selection in her area was non-existent. We filled her shopping list and I couldn't resist getting a couple of sweet olives for myself. The prices are always right.
Honestly they had a bad selection of trees and a lot were dead and they never answer the phone this is the worst experience I’ve had
I always find what I want at Houston Garden Centers. The staff is always very friendly and quick to help with a heavy load.
This Houston Garden Center has a very large and healthy variety of plants. Their sprinkler selection was sparse but accommodated what I needed. Very helpful as well.
Very good prices and helpful staff. I recently visited their store in Cypress and they are very friendly.
I cant get in contact with any houston garden center. It gets forwarded to a full voicemail. Sounds like a cell phone. How do you have a cell phone as a contact number but still cant answer it? I thought the purpose of a cell phone was to improve the availability and mobility of the holder of the phone number? Why is it like this for all HGC in my area? Did y'all collectively decide to have phones just to leave them at the desk and not answer? What about customers who live in the country and want to make sure they dont waste gas?
I went to #20 and the people working their were fantastic. Great job to the workers at Houston Garden Center # 20! Keep up the great work
I don’t like how Garden Center usually NEVER has the Milkweed plants. They never have Milkweed. I think they always overprice things. I would give them a 5 star if they changed this
Great selection. Trees are in decent shape and the prices are good (especially if you shop sales and use the coupons-which you have to print off ahead of time).
Staff isn’t great. We overpaid by about $60 last time because the staff wasn’t inputting sales prices and we didn’t catch it. If possible try and get Pamela. She checks sales and is great to deal with because she CARES.
Beautiful and healthy plants. We lost 50 plants this winter and have replaced them all with the help of this place.
If I can, NO STAR for thisplace, terrible for cashier. They charge you wrong money, but you say not. You want them check the price, the cashier say: NO I DON'T HAVE TIME, and the second is IT'S NOT MY JOB. We went there for many times, but this is the last time. My husband and I checked out, cashier (a lady- super lazy) doesn't the price of those tree, but she didn't want to go to check. Lucky, we looked at the bill and saw she charge something wrong while we still there. My husband come and check the price. She charged us more than $15. We talk to manager and she didn't receive her mistake. She says that we're wrong. After that, she spoke Spanish to her manager. Finally, the manager checked one more time, they give us money back. REMEMBER THE PRICE, CHECK THE BILL BEFORE YOU LEFT.
They have a pretty broad selection of plants and trees. Last year we purchased several trees and plants. All the trees have weathered the winter and are growing well this spring. We have been happy with our Xmas trees in years past (did not get one this year, out of town). Their service could be better but we have not had any real issues.
It should be zero stars for rude employees and terrible policy.
I tried to exchange, for store credit, an unopened product that I purchased earlier that day that I wound up not needing in my garden and was met with rudeness and attitude from the woman behind the register.
When I tried explaining the situation to her and that it was my first time shopping there, and I liked their store, how I wasn't aware of the policy.she was unmoved and firm pointing to the signs and my receipt repeating herself and waving me away. I think she even said "see ya" once I started walking away.
A few days later I'm still in shock to have received this kind of attitude from someone working in a retail store where I spent over $200 hours earlier that same day.
I'm sucking up my losses on the purchase from their store and vowing to spread the word, never give them another dollar. There are plenty of other stores that have friendly employees and customer friendly policies.
I bought my Christmas tree there this year the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Today, I had to go buy a new tree so that we would have a tree for Christmas. Less than a month after purchase, there is not a single needle left on the tree. Yes, we had the end trimmed and used tree preservative. We've never had this problem before.
To top it all off, you cannot call their store. The phone goes to a mail box that is full. Same way with the Hwy 6 store and the 1960 phone number had been disconnected. How do they stay in business? Will be buying my trees elsewhere from now on.
Very disappointed with the Christmas tree I purchased. It only lasted 5 days. It is so dead it will not hold the ornaments. We will not have a tree for Christmas.
Worst tree I have ever purchased! I don’t think it is going to have a needle left on it by Christmas! I will never shop her again!
You have Matress Mack in this town helping everyone while Houston Garden Center sells fraudulent Christmas Trees to hundreds of customers.
I wrote a post on my community page about how our tree after one week is raining needles like Harvey. I’ve had over 50 responses (just in my community) with people having the same issues. In a time when this city has been coming together Houston Gradens reminds us on how we still must be weary.
I haven’t even tried to contact corporate because EVERYONE talks about how shady management is.
How does a company like this have so many locations?
Merry Christmas Houston Gardens. Something tells me you got your tree elsewhere.
Excellent plant/flower selection, good prices and helpful staff. You can also always get a coupon on your phone for a nice discount. I will frequent this business!
