Need a sign on the "wrong" door for where to sign in (go two doors south) for spay/neuter appt arrivals. No one answers the phone at 8a arrival time. Otherwise: Very Kind People!

These people are very little help. I’ve been trying to get my dog an appointment for his vaccinations for two months now and when I finally get in contact, they can’t help me. My dog has a fever and their alternative clinics and hospitals cost a grip. I’d give this place 0 stars if I could.

I recieved my pet services here, very professional and caring. Because it's served the public at such a high rate it may seem to be rushed but they recognize me and my pet on every visit. I'm fortunate to have this place and its services in proximity to me with such reasonable prizes and caring professionals.

I just adopted a beautiful little Chiweenie named Ziggy from here and I can't recommend this place enough. The staff was extremely nice and helpful and the process went very smoothly. He is healthy and happy in his new home. Thank you so much for what you do!

Well I adopted a kitten all of the animals were friendly. The establishment was clean and they made sure it was sanitized.

So my family and I went in to look at a specific poodle today. We went through the application, had our meet and greet and were ready to begin the adoption process when the front receptionist denied us. Her reasoning is that our current dog (husky) at home is on heartworm medication and adding another dog to the mix will just add more stress to the husky’s heart issue. We explained to her that the Veterinarian office stated adding another member to the family (a dog) won’t affect the medication our husky is currently on. They also mentioned that the shelters usually contact the vets if they have questions on the medication. Although just seeing that medication listed is usually enough for most shelters, per the vet. Her response was “well other shelters have different rules” and denied us either way. This is what confuses me, a receptionist at this office is essentially saying she knows more than a veterinarian. After looking at the other reviews I feel that this shelter picks and chooses what families get approved for adoption. We drove over an hour to see the poodle and spent another hour going through the process only to just be denied. Extremely disappointing

By far the worst animal clinic I have even been to. There is average 20-25 minute wait time just to speak to someone. If you call needing to speak to a vet or vet technician, you’re out of luck since “they’re busy”. Horrible service. If you have any questions for the vet, expect to be out on hold for 5-10 minutes for every question you have.

You are also not allowed to be with your dogs in the clinic rooms, even if you are putting down your dog. Appointments do not matter so expect to be in a crowded waiting room and given little priority.

The animal shelter itself is great and has a lot of adorable dogs and cats to adapt.
However, the next door clinic and it’s staff are unorganized and unhelpful.

My pet had a lot of health conditions when we adopted him from there they didn’t treat him or anything. They just gave shot records instead of informing us about his health

I’ve been going to HHS for 6 years. It’s a lot more difficult to get an appointment now after COVID but they’re very affordable and take great care of our pets. The staff is very nice and are always happy to answer any questions.

No one ever answers the phone, no one ever calls back after filling out the form online. Then to top everything off. A volunteer Dr misdiagnosed my family member dog. He had a bump she said was ok and normal but turns out it was cancerous. They never called to apologize and when my family went up there to let them know their response was insensitive. Houston humane society is out of line and does not care about your dog. They want your money and take up all your time. My family is still grieving while their still
making money misdiagnosing your dog. Tread lightly and use your own judgement and make them do their job.

Adopted a cat here and the staff was so great to work with and made the process exciting for the family. Would adopt here in the future.

Everytime we go there we're greeted by the terrific staff. We're so happy we adopted our doggie there and we stop once in a while to look at all the beautiful dogs. We love our dog!

The Humane Society used to be a great place. Now, the workers couldn't care less about helping animals and their owners. They have a terrible attitude and if you need something, they are always too busy, no exceptions, and their attitude is, oh well. Very unprofessional. And they have the nerve to want donations after giving out horrible attitudes and treatment.

Took my cat there to get spayed. Staff was friendly and my cat came out of surgery fine. The price you can’t beat.

I was so happy with the experience. The staff was very helpful, answered all my questions. My Lilly was taken care in a timely fashion. Most of all it was affordable. My pocketbook was very happy.

Took my baby to get spayed and the staff was very friendly and explained the procedure to me very well, I knew then, my baby was in good hands. When I picked her up, they gave me a summary of the after care and also verbalized it to me. Thank you humane society for everything

Layla & sister Riannah love it here. Great, friendly staff. Always informative and thorough. Helpful since I haven't been a new owner in 16 years.

I hv a Emotional Support Cat, that has been taking care of me, for 13 years.
She needed her nails clipped, so I took Mz. Bubblez, to the Houston Humane Society, to get this done. At first, she was nervous, but after they had taken her to the back, n clipped her nails, she came back, calm.
I liked how they treated her, with care, n kindness.
The BEST, n BIGGEST thing for me, was that I was ABLE to AFFORD IT!
Thanks Houston Humane Society, I appreciate you guys.
PLEASE KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK, that you guys do for our 4 legged family members. It means alot to me, to know that, my BEAUTIFUL little girl, was n GREAT HANDS.
YOU GUYS ROCK!

Updated review….

A few months ago I adopted a cat from here but sadly I had to bring him back because my apartment wasn’t suitable for him. When I returned him the worker was not pleasant whatsoever. She was aloof and a bit rude if you ask me. She seemed annoyed I was bringing him back (for his safety). I just ignored her unpleasant attitude and went on with my day.

I came back A month or two later and I adopted a 2 month old kitten. Well, Just a few days of having him, his eyes were having green/yellowish discharge. I tried calling the shelter but for some strange reason EVERY TIME (and I mean EVERY TIME) I called up there my call were being forwarded to a voicemail system. I thought something was off so I had two different people call there and their calls were answered. THESE PEOPLE WERE IGNORING MY CALLS? Pretty childish if you ask me.

Well I drove up there and the clinic side was closed so I left my information with a worker on the adoption side and nobody called me back. At this point the poor kitty eyes didn’t open. I ended up having to take him to an emergency pet hospital and paid $800 to be told he had an infection and he needed antibiotics and eye drops.

Well fast forward. I was also noticing the cat scratching excessively near his face and back of his ears. I looked in his ears and they were FILTHY. After another vet visit, the Poor kitty had ear mites! That was another $200 just dumped down the drain.

Be aware of getting a cat with issues and them ghosting you. Also, if you change your mind about adopting, and decide to bring the animal back, just be aware of them trying to make you feel bad.

The kitten is doing just fine now. But it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s underlying issues with him. I seriously hope not.

Also… the clinic hours are not the same as the adoption center hours. Expect to wait over an hour at the clinic as well. It’s ridiculously unorganized over there.
