Hughie's, Houston TX

UPDATE: Tonight I came in and at first I thought they were closed because it was so dark. But they were open. While I sat there they lowered the lights even more. Now this isn’t a romantic place. Kids are here on their iPads, people, ok me, are at the bar trying to read things on their phones, etc. I did say something and got a tiny bit more light at the bar. But it was terrible! Way too dark. Can’t see my food, my phone. Need night vision. Absolutely no reason for the darkness. Still love’em but guess only in the light of day! So happy they are here! Have been to lunch and happy hour many times at the other location and the beer and food selection is great. Heights location has a much larger patio. Went for lunch, happy hour and week end dinner. Good crowd, great service even with a large crowd. Planning to go to the bar next door next.

This was the best kale preparation I have ever had and the beef was delicious. Their tiramisu was great too. Would highly recommend this place.

One of my favorite places. Top two Vietnamese joints I’ve been loving lately. I love a rice platter with their sautéed chicken, an egg and an egg roll. Insanely good fish sauce too. It’s also very nonchalant and not overpriced. The people that work there and own it are always pleasant. I’m a big fan!

I had their crispy dumplings which were so delicious I also had their Turmeric Fish & chips! Everything was so great. I finished my food with a yellow rose ipa! Definitely will be coming back again

This place is a great place to dine with friends. The shrimp shake specialty is savory and light. The whole table of 8 people I ate with all order different plates. Everyone left happy and satisfied. I think we will be back soon!

Ordered food over the phone and forgot to mention we would eat it there they unpacked it and served us on plates. The staff was very nice and helpful they gave us water without asking for it. Everyone was amazing there and omg the food was great! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Food is consistent and delicious. Great tiramisu, a touch different than a traditional but in a good way! Effort even put in on my Arnold Palmer…definitely recommend

Great Bin mai/ sandwiches I love Hughies, I normally go to 18th street but was in this area and settled. Consistency is important to me, and Hughies has that and more going for them. Not much parking and no shade from the sun.

I love this place! The staff treats me very well! The food is great! Try the kale salad. You won't believe it. It's addictive.

It's one of my favorite places. The fried rice is awesome. I always get the shaking beef or shaking shrimp, and it's consistently tasty every single time.

I always enjoy this place, they always have friendly staff. Good beer selection and very consistently delicious food. Personal favorite is the shaking beef with fried rice- but also their chicken fried steak is really yummy. I pretty much enjoyed everything I have ever had there.

Hughie's describes itself as vietnamese food but much of it is Americanized and there is completely non-vietnamese fare as well. To be expected from a quick glance at the menu and the name of the restaurant that it won't be anything authentic, but the food is still tasty! We got the shaking beef that was good but didn't have much traditional Vietnamese seasoning, and also the salmon. The salmon was flavored well. The kale salad the entrees come with were also good.

Lots of parking. The restaurant had very millennial vibes. Nice reverse happy hour.
