Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area, Inc reviews
19They have a big variety of large, medium and small animals. Very easy to adopt a forever friend.
When we were contacted about a little kitty we wanted to adopt, they were like “come and get her. ” So we did. That was on a Tuesday and we found out that she had just been spayed the Thursday before. She was tender in the abdomen area so we took her to our vet. After spending $550 for x-rays and things, she was put on painkillers and antibiotics. She still wasn’t a whole lot better after a couple days and we called the vet, cause they had taken a fecal sample, and found out she had tapeworms and some other thing so we had to get medicine for those 2 things, and put our other kitty on meds too. When we called the adoption center to let them know they may want to check any other cats she may have been around they were like, “Oh well. Nothing we can do. ” So be careful adopting from this center.
I love the NB humane society, however I had several dogs I was interested in and when I went in to adopt, not a single dog I was looking for was there. I know they get super busy, but when people want to adopt and are serious about it, the website should be updated. I spent hours online researching the best dogs for me and my family and it was a waste of my time.
This place is horrible! Don't go in there if you're pregnant. Apparently they like to scold you like a child and put you down for being pregnant and having a dog you couldn't fix in time. Instead of helping, the front desk decided to bring the entire staff upfront to show how you are supposed to talk to young pregnant women who are trying to do the right thing by going in and asking for help.
I hope they aren't treating the animals the way they treat humans!
They will literally put your animal down (euthanized) saying it's because they have no room for animals. Absolutely unbelievable. Like what are people supposed to do if they find a stray but can't care for it or keep it. What's the point of turning in a stray to help the animal if y'all just kill them?
If I could leave zero reviews I would. This place degraded my pregnant daughter in law in-front of several staff members for trying to get help with puppies. She was trying to do the right thing and doesn’t have it in her to dump puppies. Instead they told her “If you fix your dog you wouldn’t have to worry about puppies and a newborn”. Her being pregnant has absolutely NOTHING to do with why she was there. If this is how they treat people I can only imagine how they treat the animals here. For the record- she doesn’t have to worry about the newborn because she is very well taken care of. This place needs to worry about the humans they hire and train them on customer service and respect
They staff there do a fantastic job taking care of all the animals and they genuinely care! I highly recommend, adopting, volunteering or donating to the humane society of New Braunfels!
Everyone was very professional and I could tell they had alot of compassion for animals. Great place to adopt or foster a dog!
I help these guys as much as I can. They care for the animals and everyone should adopt a pet!
If you have to put your beloved pet down I do not recommend this place. They do not let you stay with your pet during the process.
Today the Copper/Chase bowling league donated their prize money to the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area in the form of a $2000 check. This is such a worthwhile effort and after an amazing tour of the facility we were blown away by how many animals they manage on a daily basis - today there were about 500 dogs and cats at the facility!
They said that if I bring in a 9 month old dog then they will just euthanize them the first day. Sad.
My family talked, and talked, and talked about getting a new dog. A tiny dog. A puppy even. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine my family coming home with a little pit full terrier (no one else was really a fan but I’ve always been obsessed). She’s literally the sweetest little girl and everyone is absolutely in love with her. Thank you so much, HSNBA. I don’t know how no one snatched her up before hand, but I’m so grateful little Macchiato is ours.
Great service found a perfect fit for my family kevik Alaskan malamute is absolutely a sweet heart
I’m extremely disappointed in who ever their surgeon is. I understand they get people who volunteer their time to help out these babies but they are definitely veterinarian rejects. We’ve had no issues with the staff at all! I love speaking and spending time with them when we would foster. Recently we fostered two disabled cats and one of them had an amputated front leg. Well, the genius behind that surgery left so much femur bone, he’s constantly gotten the wound re-opened up, and now extremely infected and if we don’t take the rest of the bone off it’s only going to continue to happen and he could die of an infection. We have gotten 3 different doctors to look at him and every single one of them says they’re unsure why they left that much bone left rather than take it all. Needless to say, I’m out over $4k for my cat that was fostered and taken in. I’m just upset and disappointed in how this was done to him and now I literally have to pay the price for taking these babies in. I will never donate or foster from here anymore after this. I shouldn’t have to be putting my poor cat in a emergency room because the shelter hired person that can’t make it anywhere else to do their lack of knowledge. I’m not rich and cannot afford to keep paying a few thousand dollars for cats that are from here. Sad part is, I took 4 kittens there last year and wanted to foster them, rather than get better they all pretty much died there due to infections. That place needs to just shut down already, I can’t take this anymore of losing my cats and coughing up a few grand due to neglect to keep paying for these bills.
Had to leave our dog with them for a 10 day quarantine, because rabies had expired, and he bit a friend. They were very caring, and made our family feel very comfortable leaving him in their care.
Good folks working hard to get all the wonderful rescue animals that pass there doors a happy forever home. I have volunteered there and adopted a huge ball of love and slobber. I couldn't be happier with them. They can always use more volunteers)
I'm hoping it is a 5 stars my mom applied for a cat named choux. 8 months ago the cat that I loved with all my heart passed away I hope that they chose my family the name is under Monica Diaz and this is my last hope I hope that we get picked as a 10 year old girl it eould make my heart to happy
Went to see about fostering a pet. We were about to find a beautiful dog. Anastasia and her sister were found as strays They are both pure breed Merle Great Danes.
