Huntsville State Park reviews
18We did a nice day trip to the park to hang out and bbq. Nice facilities and lake for activities. Heading back with RV rental soon!
Beautiful park. Nice trails. Our travel trailer spot was nice and clean. Lots of small boats on the lake. Highly recommend a stay or a hike here.
It's a beautiful park with a lot of trails. Very well maintained. I'm not sure what the point of pre-registering is when you still have to go inside. It is still a great park with lots to do and very well kept camping sites!
This is a beautiful park we happened upon! Not too far off the beaten path. Very private setting once in the park. Tons and tons of picnic areas with nice tables. Stopped and ate our lunch. Beautiful water access at various points. $7 fee to enter. Camping also. Lots of birds & local wildlife - squirrels, chipmunks, etc. Lots of trails - some with wood paths. Easily accessible & lots of parking. Nice boat ramp areas.
This park is beautiful, well maintained, safe, and close to home. You need to book well in advance since they are at slightly lower capacity due to COVID. You can literally bring a tent and sleeping bag only if you wanted to because everything else is available on-site. They have firewood for purchase and a store that you can get just about whatever you need in the park. Cannot wait to visit again in a couple of months.
Been coming here since I was a child. Every time I go back I have a great time. The weather isn't always on my side, but the park is very nice.
I love going to Huntsville State Park staff are always friendly and help and for the most part they try and do there best to keep the park clean.
It was a great experience, the trails have different modes so be ready to exercise your body and enjoy the nature. They also have a playground area for children, fishing spots, boat rental, swimming area (at your own risk), tables to eat, lots of parking, etc. There's alot to do so there's plenty of options. The staff was very friendly and helpful when needed. If you want to know if there's alligators, I only saw one but they don't bother no one they try to stay away from people.
Bathrooms need better airflow, but other than that no problems. Stopped by to pet the aligators. 10/10 would recommend. Life changing experience.
Great park! Lots of trails, dog friendly, clean bathrooms. The trails are not very hilly but have a ton of tree roots, so it can be a challenge!
This was a clean campground. The fishing was very poor and for a site without full hookups I felt the price was quite high, most likely will not return
It is a great park to ride your bike. Some trails are for experts and some are for everybody. The best thing is the tras are in the woods and they are very lovely.
Huntsville in the winter is great. It was cold, but we almost had the entire park to ourselves! Clean park and clean restrooms.
Super park! Very quiet, peaceful for all ages. Grounds and facilities are imaculate. Lots of activities from paddle boats, swimming, boating and fishing.
Nearby Huntsville offers a lot of history, shopping and restaurants. Definitely a repeater.
Great place to go camping. Hiking, fishing and boat rentals including kayaks against a backdrop of pine trees and a beautiful large lake. Will return to camp again.
Really nice park. One of the few places around area you can get away from nascar wannabes and their pickups with straight pipes.
One of the best state parks to just have a relaxed weekend. Restrooms were well maintained with hot showers. The hosts for our area were very friendly and helpful.
This state park is by far my favorite in the Houston area. By itself, it’s not as large as Brazos Bend SP, but Huntsville SP is essentially surrounded by the Sam Houston National Forest, which makes it seem more vast and remote than it actually is.
The main hiking trail circles the lake that makes up most of the park, and features a much more varied terrain than normally found in the region. There are some hills, sections of pine forest, and nice lake and wildlife views.
There are also some mountain biking trails that are just north of the park, which connect to the park trails. These MTB trails are nice, flowy, singletrack without any huge obstacles or TTFs. They’re definitely green trails, but are still fun to ride.
