I stayed at the Hyatt Residence Club San Antonio, Wild Oak Ranch Jun 29 Jun 30. I wanted to wait until I wasn't as emotional to write my review. Myself and my granddaughters checked in at 4: 00 and by 6: 00 my granddaughter had slipped and hit her head at the pool. First of all, the young lady that watches the pools, was right there and did nothing. I had to tell her she needed to get somebody to come down.

Security came down and checked her and said they would give us a cart ride back to our room and I said no because my granddaughter was unconscious for a minute and was screaming she couldn't see so we took her to the hospital.

We spent several hours at the hospital and was told my granddaughter had a concussion and she couldn't be stimulated neurologically.

My real complaint is they knew they had a safety issue and didn't fix it. The next morning I went down to the pool again early before we checked out.
There was a mat where my granddaughter fell. I told the young lady that was standing there that my granddaughter slipped there and she said that happens all the time.

I was there for approximately 30 minutes, the mat was moved by kids and water. Within minutes another young lady slipped.

SAFETY issue that should be investigated and fixed before someone else hits there head or becomes hurt. We weren't really able to appreciate the facilities because we didn't have time because of the accident. Most importantly I'm concerned for other families.

I wonder how many incident reports they have on these falls and slipping.

Great for kids. Rooms are tired but who cares. Not many food options so if you don't get a room with a kitchen, you'll need Uber eats!
Small resort but 3 year old had a blast and we fel he had safe things to do.

Just checked out today, and what a horrible night we had. How do I begin to tell you we had no running hot water at 9: 00 p.m. Last night the maintenance man did not show until 9: 40 he had to drain the hot water heater fix a part refill it, then we had to wait until the water heated again. The spa tub did not have hot water until midnight. I was exhausted we drove in from Houston all we wanted was a quick get away at a nice Hotel. Needless to say we are not coming back. I want to to thank Austin for his 5 customer service, he immediately rectified our issues without any hesitation. Thanks again Austin!

Mediocre, at best. The rooms were average that showed a lot of wear and tear in them. They will attempt, fiercely, for a timeshare sales pitch at check in. The poor score was given for the pool staff. My son was able to ride all the water slides on Friday, Saturday there was a new crew (not lifeguards, just random pool attendants) my son was screamed at when attempting to ride as that day he was too short, day before no issue. I did not appreciate how he was spoken to when I brought it up to management it was basically brushed off that they are young. I was told I would expect a call from the general manager, never happened. No accountability and this teenage stared at me and my family the rest of her shift. Just not the pleasant experience or family friendly vibes we were going for.

This is not meant to be a knock on this property, itself, but just notice to those who previously were able to access the neighboring Hyatt Hill Country Resort from this property. We were told this past weekend after arriving there and inquiring that they have discontinued this access on weekends (Fri-Sun) for at least the rest of the year. There is also now a $25 parking fee when visiting the Hyatt Hill Country (for any spa appointments, restaurants, etc.). Previously, we, and others we also heard taking issue with this change in policy, enjoyed access to both properties and were even sold on joining the HRC in part due to this reciprocal access. It specifically affected us because our two young children were unable to use the water slides at the Wild Oak due to height requirements but are permitted to do so on equivalent slides at the Hill Country. They also had access to other children's activities there that are no longer accessible. This was a disappointment for us and many others.

Cons:
-Went on a promotional rate but couldn't attend the time share tour due to being at the hospital with my son. They ended up charging me an extra $700 for not being able to attend.
-Rooms are outdated
-Beds are firm as a rock
-Walls/and connecting room door are paper thin.
-Plumbing/water pipes are super loud
-Wasn't informed that we couldn't use the sister properties amenities on the weekends

Pros:
-Pool and Lazy river are nice but close at 8 pm. The last 20 min before closing the lazy river all workers are just staring at you and looking at their watches, making us uncomfortable.
-Nice landscaping

My family travels alot, like 7 to 10 vacations a year, and this resort does not disappoint! We've been repeat visitors for over the last decade and it is a well maintained property.

Stayed here for a couple of days while attending my Daughter's graduation at Ft Sam Houston. This is an awesome place for kids and adults to enjoy the water and have some fun. Rooms are top notch. The only issue would be the food is really expensive on the premises. Might consider eating at more reasonable priced off the premises.

Awesome place to stay for a vacation away from home. It's more like an awesome apartment with a big hot tub in the restroom. Also has shower, and washer & dryer in the apartment.

Hard to make a decision on this hotel, up or down. Hyatt Residence Club San Antonio is primarily a hotel for timeshare customers, although it's available for open booking through the standard Hyatt website. Medium-sized resort, pleasant space, far enough away from the city, and self-parking. The water park includes a large pool, a lazy river, two slides, and no life-guards (important if you have kids). A Wal-Mart Grocery store is within 4-minutes by car. Rooms include full-sized coffee makers, refrigerators, plates/bowls, as well as various silverware. Balconies either face the nearby woods or the parking lot. Globalist, Explorists, etc, will not receive any upgrades or free inclusions. This is a fee-heavy hotel. Check in is a pretty firm 4p and check out is an equally firm 10a.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Location is perfect for quick trips around San Antonio or if you feel the need to soak in the pool, this place has two amazing pools. Lazy river for those looking to drink and relax or a rec center style pool for those who wish to socialize.

Remember to use HotelTully. ᴄᴏm when booking your stay. This site will compare countless booking web sites and normally will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! You're welcome:)! This hotel is one of the best in this area. I have been staying here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't regret it.

I've been an owner there for over a decade. The staff is top notch as are the accommodations. I had our best friends and family all come for a wonderful week. Quite a nice place, close to San A, all the attractions but in a serene environment.

Wild oaks ranch review
2.5/5 stars
1. Food. Kind of a joke honestly. You will wait an hour or more for a meal that is mediocre at best. We learned this quickly and made a trip to the grocery store and prepared all of our own meals the rest of the trip. I don’t mind cooking/cleaning kitchen but if it is important to you that when you’re on vacation you don’t have to do this - then prepare to wait for food and be unimpressed with that you get. Not sure how a property of this size expects one restaurant to accommodate everyone + serve as room service.
2. Condos. I will say that the AC worked and the temps in our rooms stayed comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to prepare your meals which I appreciated considering we ended up doing that. The floor was really dirty and I wore my shoes inside the entire time because of this. My kids would be barefoot and their feet would be black from the dirty floors we washed them every time before we put them into bed. There were bugs I squished probably half a dozen times, they looked like a small skinny roach type thing. Our king room toilet was leaking and the engineer told us it was a gasket issue so we avoided using it. The first two nights I couldn’t sleep because I kept hearing sporadic beeping noise which we finally figured out was coming from the safe in the king room closet and the engineers removed it for us, at this point I was exhausted from chasing kids all day and not sleeping well at night.
3. Staff. Check in, everyone was nice. Engineers were very nice and communicative. Poolside/kids club were nice kids. Whoever the pool manager lady is eventually shows up on our third day and instructs the pool side staff that kids with a red wrist band can no longer ride the slides. For reference, the slides say you must be 48” to ride but if you get a red wristband then you’re eligible (so we were told). My 5 year old son who is 46” tall rode these slides probably 100 times the first two days of our stay without issue. As did many others. On the third day when this new “rule” was enforced you had kids in tears, unhappy parents, and the poolside teens in an impossible situation where their supervisor told them to enforce a new rule and then left them in the dust to deal with the fall out without being able to even articulate why it now changed. I can’t imagine if I worked for someone like that. I was both upset for my son and upset for the teens.
TLDR; if your kid is under 48” and you don’t want to have to cook and clean when you’re on “vacation” then this is not the best destination and your money will be best spend elsewhere.

9 am wake-up call you didn’t ask for, essentially kicking you out of your room on checkout day is unacceptable. Bed hard, pillows suck. They text you every hour of each day you stay with pointless updates such as letting you know an elevator in some random building you aren’t staying in is now working. Just over the top really. Wouldn’t recommend.
