India Oven, San Antonio TX

I have lunch very often at India Oven and sometimes dinner and had to leave a review after seeing all these other reviews.

When you walk in, it may take a moment (just a moment) to be seated but that's not out of the ordinary at all. I have never ever waited more than a few minutes, not even on mother's day.

The wait staff share responsibilities for all of the tables. There isn't just one person for each table. And every single person in that establishment is so kind and attentive. It may get a little busy in there at times but that happens at all restaurants so please allow them some grace if they don't get to you instantly.

I used to live in Houston and worked off 59& Hillcroft so I've had a lot of Indian food and India Oven is amazing food y'all. So, so flavorful and the portions are so generous.

I saw one review say that they only got one shrimp on their plate and I just can't believe that could be true. I get the shrimp biryani sometimes and it has plenty of shrimp. There's not one dish that I've gotten and thought "sheesh, this is kind of skimpy. "

As for the other review saying the staff wouldn't seat them at 10 pm.please understand that the staff are human too, they want to go home at the end of the day to rest as well. Being seated 30 minutes before closing time is just so inconsiderate. Finding somewhere else that can cater to your late night needs isn't hard.

If you're unsure of what to order, just ask any of the staff. They'll be happy to explain things and help you out.

Overall, India Oven is 10/10 in my book and I am happy to continue bringing my friends, family and coworkers there to enjoy it.

The food was excellent, once we got it. Walked in the door, not acknowledged for a minute or two. Walked up to a guy on the phone, he immediately shooed me to wait. After waiting several minutes, finally led to a table. Waited a long time with menus, no drink order. Placed the order, got drinks fast. Waited a lonnnnggg time for appetizer. Waited even longer for entrees. Son’s drink glasses were dry. Tried flagging down a server for several minutes. He finally got water. Several minutes later asked if we needed our check. Never got desert. Got check, handed him payment. THEN, he asked if we got desert. Brought back desert, check, payment. 1: 40 spent there, I’d like about 40 or so minutes back. Even though the food was very good, no need to go back to a place that neglects it’s patrons.

First time trying Indian food, and it was amazing! I didn’t expect to walk into a buffet (lunch hours I’m assuming) which was a plus, because I got to try a little of a lot. Again Food was super good! The employees were friendly! 10/10 I’ll be back

I have been dining at India Oven at least 11 years. The Sunday buffet is my favorite. I get the opportunity to sample a variety of their delicious food. I highly recommend this restaurant.

First time there, staff had great customer service, food excellent, nice atmosphere would recommend if looking for this type of food.

Moved to New Braunfels from Canada 2.5 years ago and have been struggling to find good, authentic Indian food the entire time. My husband and I came here last night and the food was fantastic! Excellent flavour, amazing vegan options, good service. We will be back. I wish the spicy was a bit spicier but next time I'll see if they have Indian hot.

Went in to try Indian food for the first time and had the buffet. All the food was amazing and warm, the servers were so polite and attentive, also they were following covid guidelines so it made me feel better about the whole experience. The ambiance is so beautiful and I can’t wait for my next visit! Also a great deal for the buffet.

I’ve eaten here several times over the past few years and even got takeout from here during COVID quarantine and I can say that the food is excellent staff are lovely and haven’t changed since I’ve first been there and dine in or takeout the food is always flavourful and excellent. • making me want more even when I’m full

The food was Meh! Just like the Service, nothing memorable about it. All male staff, which takes away from its personality. Overrated!

Very good place to eat, bring friends and family. Nice atmosphere, and attentive wait staff. The buffet is very reasonably priced, and the food is plentiful, delicious and flavorful. Highly recommend.

The BEST Indian food I found in San Antonio. Bold delicious flavors, various flavor profiles. Had all of the dishes I was craving. Ordered takeout and food was still amazing 20 min later when I got home.

I cannot tell you how long we’ve been looking around San Antonio for a good Indian cuisine restaurant. This place did not disappoint! It was a fantastic experience from the beginning to the end. Everything we got was extremely tasty and hit the spot right now! I especially loved their Chicken Korma! Also to note, they use their tandoori chicken in their Chicken Tikka Masala - absolutely amazing! One warning, the medium heat is a true medium to hot and the garlic naan is very garlicky. Must go!

We're Hispanics, our daughter invited us to try Indian food. We were hesitant, but she convinced us that Indian food was spicy too in a different way. My husband is very picky about food, but to my surprise, he loved it. Food is very flavorful & smells delicious. Definitely will be back.

Amazing food, amazing staff. This is the best Indian food you can find anywhere in Texas. I have been coming here for about two years with my girlfriend and the service is always spectacular and the food is fantastic. Take out or dine, India Oven is definitely worth stopping at if you are in the area for some authentic Indian cuisine!

I ordered tandoori chicken supposedly their best dish at 9: 00 PM skeptical if they will take orders at that time especially tandoori chicken. I even asked if I will get fresh chicken.

After the commitment of 15 min which I didn’t feel good about. I got it home only to eat dried chicken with lots of coloring, as if they painted it.

If you like the quantity, then maybe. But otherwise I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Great food! Great experience with the staff, it took a while for the guy to figure out how to split our ticket but in the end it was settled perfectly. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

Food was good. Service could use some improvement. Waited 45 minutes after ordering our food. Refills on soda would be nice.
