The atmosphere is excellent, and the bbq is good.

The downside? Wicked expensive for what you get. My brisket plate $22 was 1/3lb and extremely fatty. It tastes good, but some more meat for that price would be nice. And a beer was $6. $30 for a lunch. I'm not surprised the place wasn't packed.

I always make a pilgrimage back to Iron Works BBQ every time I’m in Austin. It was the first bbq place I visited and because of that I will always hold a flame for it. Like any bbq place it’s always best when it’s busy, the sampler plate is a sure fire hit. Sides are a bit hit and miss but who goes to a bbq place for the sides?

Service was quick and friendly, but the food was poor. Got the brisket sandwich with BBQ beans, which turned out to be a mistake. My brisket was so dry it was basically beef jerky, made worse by being on two buns. The BBQ beans were simply beans flavor, possibly because their BBQ sauce doesnt have much flavor either.

I loved the brisket and liked the turkey. Fat on the brisket was excellently caramelized, and turkey breast was tender and juicy. Didn't have enough time to seat and eat with sides. I will be visiting again on my next trip.

Very Disappointing! The food is served lukewarm and what's worse, you stand in line waiting for the cashier while the food gets colder. I got a $35 plate of beef ribs and went to the cashier to pay. Another staff was working on a large order she gave to the cashier. So that was a wait. Then the cashier scurried off for something and so another wait. She got my drink order wrong so that was a wait while she voided the wrong order. The cashier was not nice through any of this and yet she turned to the guy who was next on line and told him she would give him a discount for his wait. Unreal.

A great bbq joint. Order at the window and take to your table. Pull a brew from the ice chest. Ribs were seasoned very well and are worth the trip. An authentic bbq joint vibe. You won't be disappointed in this place.

Service was good and staffs were friendly. Unfortunately the bbq was very dry and over cooked. Spent $40 on my plate and it was barely any good meat to eat. Brisket was not moist at all. Sausage was also tough. I’m surprised they still got business.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this was the worst bbq I’ve ever had. Bbq was dry. Sides were terrible. Pie was store bought. Staff is nice. Food is terrible. There’s better spots in the area. This feels more like a spot for tourists than for locals. I’d recommend Terry Blacks or travel a little to the surrounding areas

I love this place. Huge portions… barbecue beef ribs, pulled pork, baby back ribs, beef brisket, with all tasty sides. You can’t go wrong here. I love the rustic feel of this restaurant and it’s local. If you want good BBQ, this is a great place to stop.

Honestly this was the best BBQ I had in Austin. It's got a great vibe, historic building and the food is amazing. Highly recommend.

Food was not flavorful at all. I received the sample. The sausage was disgusting, the potato salad taste like the cook was mad. Green beans had no flavor taste like it came straight out the can.

Classic bbq joint in the middle of bustling Austin Texas. The place has a great environment. But man it was so hot and muggy on the inside. The food was solid could have been a little warmer in temp. The only real problem is the staff. Everyone is so rude it’s kind of crazy how people could be so upset.

I must say, it's the best in Austin. The brisket and beef ribs are a 10 out of 10! Awesome staff! Great location!

This place is rustic. But if you like BBQ then it is 5 stars all the way. Fast service and great food. Not as busy as some other local BBQ options but you may hit a line up depending on when you eat. We were there at 5pm with no line. When we left there was about 20 people lined up. Recommended and worth the wait. I would say the ribs were slightly better than the brisket. But both were excellent.
