JINYA Ramen Bar - Austin reviews
15Don’t do takeout. It was cold, tasted bad, and they make you wait in a crowded bar while they ignore you (knowing you have a pickup order) and serve people drinks and food. If you pickup for quickness or to avoid risky COVID situations, don’t go here. Their payment system is also fishy (made us sign when we got there, making me wonder if they stored my card without permission).
This was my first time having ramen and I'm glad it was from here, this was everything I have heard ramen to be, delicious, comfort, filling and food for the soul.
It hurts me to even write this negative review on Jinya, but it seems like the service and food has went down. We waited for over 45 minutes to be seated. Hostess with the red tinted hair was so rude.
Everyone was so accommodating of our large walk in party. Alex was a fabulous server and took great care of us. We will certainly be back.
Love the food! Staff is amazing. The only reason I gave them 4 out of 5 is because wait time was 45 min-1 hr and we ended up waiting for 1 hour and 25 minutes before we got seated. Other than that, I recommend them every time.
Very mediocre ramen. Not the worst I’ve had but far from the best. (Maybe this is good for Austin?) Extra star for the fried chicken appetizer which was good— crispy and moist.
You’re paying for the experience of eating at the domain. In the kindest way possible, this is colonizer ramen. I’ve never had such bland broth, the noodles fail to absorb any flavor and there was an eggshell on my egg. This place gets two stars because the pork was juicy and flavorful and for the inclusion of woodear mushrooms in the ramen.
I gotta say their staff are quite excellent when it comes to the ‘packed like sardines’ atmosphere and janky restroom locks, besides that the color and the decor really brighten your experience as well as the delicious food. But it all comes to a surprise when you get the bill, not your traditional ramen place… the prices are steep but if you have an overwhelmingly fat wallet PLEASE by all means give this place a try and I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Writing this review while I am currently sitting at the bar. THEIR HOST SERVICE IS THE WORST I’VE EVER EXPERIENCED. THEY DON’T HAVE AN ORGANIZED SYSTEM AT ALL. They will always quote you over 2 hours wait time and will discourage you from sitting at the bar which is open seating. It sucks cause i love their food but their hosts are just terrible. These people are not worth keeping, you all have great food, work on your service, your host team can’t keep up with your business!
Worst noodle I’ve ever tried. Soup is not hot, noodle tastes like just coming out from wrapping bag. It was such a perfect noodle shop when I visited Indianapolis Jinya a bit ago. It is Dec 24 th I visited this shop. Austin cooking leader must be day off, I bet.
Terrible host. She’s new and gave wrong information. We’ve been here many times and just wanted to sit at the bar cause there is no wait. We waited accordingly to her “you need to wait for 5 minute” and I had to ask her 3 times if we could take the seats at the bar, then she yelled at me “I told you you need to wait for her (the bartender)! Can you just sit? ! ” Wow. I’ve never seen any host with that attitude. Good job for getting a bad review.
Giving Jinya 2 stars because I love the locations in Houston. We waited over an hour at this location to find out that the host had crossed our name off the list without having tried to contact us and wouldn’t seat us. They really want you to know that they’re short staffed. But there’s a difference between being short staffed and just being rude.
Try Jinya if you’re in Houston. Skip the hassle at this one
Black Tonkotsu Ramen is incredible! I recommend changing out the thin noodles to their thick noodles and adding an extra egg.
Our first visit and it was delicious! We were able to be seated as soon as we went in. Small place and seating is tight but the food is fantastic! We tried the tempura brussel sprouts, chef special fried chicken ramen and spicy chicken ramen (hot is their highest heat level and it’s like sriracha) go hot if you like any form of spicy and as a palette cleanser we had the panna cotta. Over ate for sure but my tummy is happy. Go!
