I recently inherited my late grandma’s wedding band and they were able to take the ring down from a 9.5 to a 5.5 in less than 2 weeks! A delightfully refreshing shopping experience!

Just before leaving Austin, my friend and I spotted a diamond bat necklace in the window of a jewelry store. Unfortunately, the store was closed, and we were leaving in a few moments.

Months later, my friend was still referring to the bat necklace she saw in Austin. I decided to gift the necklace to my friend, and I tracked down the name of the store from a map.

I called Joe Koen and Son Jewelers, and an agent took my order over the phone- just like the olden days, without having to login! The agent was very polite and so very thorough that I knew that my gift would be exactly what I wanted and arrive in time for the holiday.

The necklace is stunning! I have never seen my friend so happy with a gift! She loves it so much, she plans on wearing it always, along with her other necklaces.

We love the people, service, and quality of this family jeweler. They are our “go to” for all things special. From buying our original engagement ring (51 years ago) to our son buying his wife’s and his rings for their wedding 14 years ago, we know where to go and trust them with all fine pieces.

My husband recently brought a precious heirloom watch here to be cleaned and repaired. They sent it out to be serviced; my husband had to call several times to find out when it would be ready, only to discover that they had no idea what had happened to it. Come to find out, they send watches through the US Postal Service, not FedEx and evidently do not track these shipments, so they have no idea whether a package has actually arrived at its destination—until a customer calls to ask about the length of time the watch has been unavailable.

Getting answers was difficult; Koen finally reimbursed us for the watch.

But. This watch belonged to my husband’s father, who died of cancer when my husband was 11. It was something tangible that linked my husband with his father, and it is gone. He’s still grieving the loss of a piece of his heritage, and it’s so gut-wrenching to see him go through this. Shame on this company for its lax business practices.

I hope that this company has started keeping better track of valuables entrusted to it, but something gives me the feeling it’s business as usual. We were longtime customers but will not be returning.

Super quick and neat fix. I needed my necklace shortened, and the staff was very nice and set good expectations for pricing. They took off 5 inches of my silver necklace and cost me around $40, they took about a week. Would recommend!

I needed to have my engagement ring repaired. This jeweler was able to quickly provide an estimate with details of what they recommended be done. Communication was easy and efficient by text. I was initially concerned about downtown parking, but found there is public short term public parking across the street from the store. I will use this jeweler again.

Went to get a family heirloom 22k gold necklace clasp switched out for a lobster claw clasp and they lost the original 22k clasp. I specifically asked for the clasp back. Took a month to get the necklace back when originally quoted 7-10 days because they apparently don't do repairs in house anymore and had to ship out to a 3rd party jeweler. I was told they ‘usually’ always return the original clasp with the necklace. Doesn’t help me in this case. Might be a good place if you’re trying to sell or buy but not for repairs unless you’re willing to have pieces lost in the process.

Edit: I wouldn’t have written this review if it was just one mistake. The entire process was frustrating as I had to hunt down updates the entire month because as I had mentioned in two previous emails, I was not receiving the text messages that were sent. Turns out they input the wrong number and didn’t care to check after I confirmed my number in two other emails. Had to show up in person 4 times because communication was awful. Finally got my clasp back with 2 large chunks missing, and received numerous apologies but no effort to remedy the situation. Service is not ideal and suggest going elsewhere for jewelry repairs and this is coming from someone who gave a Denny’s 5 stars for service.

Just had my wife’s wedding rings and necklace cleaned. Our family has shopped at Koen’s for nearly 100 yrs and I’m so glad my great grandparents started that trend. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
