Seafood Restaurant Josephine's reviews
18Had a delicious lunch here. Everything we order was delicious and cooked perfectly. Only 2 item that wasn’t good is the tuna crudo and gumbo. Definitely would be back to try more items.
Great fresh oysters. Enjoyed shrimp and grits. Enjoyed the gumbo and the crab finger salad
Josephine’s is a true love letter to the gulf coast and to Mississippi that must be read by everyone who is from either one. I happen to be from both and this place feeds my soul during each and every visit. My faves: THE REDFISH DIP, all the oysters, Catfish Nuggets, Hushpuppies, biscuits, gumbo, redfish collars and redfish entree. Lucas is making pure seafood magic at Josephine’s - do not miss it!
Fantastic evening and great dining adventure. Food was solid and Jeremiah our server was more tour guide and sherpa than he was a waiter. His passion had us just telling him to "bring us your favorites" and our faith was rewarded.
We started off with the redfish.dip and fried saltines. Wow! Next we had the Snapper Collars, Stone Crab Rice, and okra. All were great and the family enjoyed them. Finally, for dessert we tried the Peanut Pie and the Chocolate Mousse in a jar. Their signature peanut pie is good but I'd opt for the Mousse if I had to do it over again. Nice atmosphere and incredible service.
Highlyyyyy recommend the ham toast, braised beef sandwich, pea salad, okra and redfish dip. Very fun and relaxed atmosphere with delicious comfort foods. Ham toast here is one of the best things I have ever tried.
Jeremiah was an amazing waiter. He guided us through the menu and shared his experiences with the tastings. It’s very laid back but the food is upscale and delicious. We will definitely be coming back.
Great Southern Seagood with a great modern reference to typical Cajun food! Atmosphere is great and the staff is super friendly. A little bit on the pricier side but regardless a great dating spot. Most dishes are sharable.
The debris Po-bois was awsome. The staff was great. The red fish dip was perfect. The chicken and sausage gumbo had the best roux I habe had in Houston. The red beans and rice is best I have had here also. Atmosphere top class also.
This place was amazing. The redfish was probably the best I've ever had, the hush puppies were on point. My 13 yr old loved the hot catfish nuggets. Impeccable service. 10/10 would eat here again.
This place was terrific! There were five of us there for family birthdays and we ordered lots of items and shared them all. In fact our bill at the end of the night looked like a CVS receipt! Bottom line, everyone liked everything we ordered. The shrimp, the shrimp and grits, the chicken, the oysters, the biscuits and so on, was all delicious! Greg our server was great and super helpful (and patient) and guided us to great choices. The music and atmosphere were very fun! We will definitely be back. This was instantly one of our favorite place in Houston!
First time visiting after seeing the restaurant featured with Chris Shepherd, the Crab Cake PoBoy was magnificent!
We plan on visiting again to have the Shrimp PoBoy!
Great service, amazing food and wonderful atmosphere
I’ve been to Josephine’s quite a few times since they opened. The oysters are always so fresh and delicious. Theres always a little bit of something for whatever youre craving. The shrimp poboy is always good.
Their brunch is also so good. The creamsicle short stack and honey butter benedict. Get it, you wont be disappointed. It says $$$$ but its not expensive like that. Its probably more like $$-$$$? About $30/pp
What a tasty dinner!
The experience started with a warm welcome by the manager. The staff was attentive without being obtrusive.
We had Southern pea salad, smoked redfish dip, stuffed crab, fried chicken and dumplings, and cheesy grits.
Every dish was a mix of classic flavors and new presentation. Kudos to the chef for such unique presentations of savory favorites.
I strongly recommend the fried chicken and dumplings. The boneless chicken is perfectly seasoned and fried. The meat was juicy and flavorful. The gravy is authenticly thick and served with biscuit dumplings.
The grits are legit. Cheesy and smooth. I'll get them with shrimp on my next visit
The pea salad is served like lettuce wraps. Tasty and unique.
My favorite might be the smoked redfish dip. It had deep flavors and was different from other fish dips I've had. It's a balanced mix of chunks of sauteed fish in a creamy aioli.
Put it on your list.
We went in and tried several items. Everything was amazing! The Redfish dip was so refreshing, BBQ shrimp were very tasty. Everything we tried was great. We had dessert to go and the apple pie crumble cheese cake was delicious! Definitely recommend Josephine’s.
Service was on point, ambiance is amazing and the food is incredible. This is a for sure classic and a midtown gem. This will be a regular for me for years to come!
There’s not much to tell - we had about 8 different dishes on the brunch menu. Everything was fantastic. Great food, great service & very reasonable prices for the quality.
I loved it, highly recommended. By chance we fell into happy hour (from 5 to 6: 30 p.m.) we ordered some coconut shrimp, all the beers are delicious and very good drinks
Congrats on the opening.
The food was mind-blowing. Hat's off to the kitchen staff & chef who created the menu. And the playlist? Don't ever underestimate this detail. They did not. Music was 10/10. Overall.it was G00D.
Tristan knows his stuff as well. We love a well-rehearsed server. Thanks for a great (late.) night.
