J.R.N. Nursery reviews
26First time I visited, and I really wanted to like it. The parking situation is less than desirable-extremely limited. An attendant attempted to help, but was so frustrated that he ended up waving me away.
I enjoyed coming here due to cheap deals but ended finding all types of bugs in my plants. Prices seem to have went up but the quality is still poor.
They have a variety of plants. But very very poor customer service. I almost felt like they are not interested in selling. Cornelius is much better.
I love this place! So many good deals on all kinds of plants and pots. Good thing it's not that close or I'd be broke
The couple at the cashier desk are the owners. I had two negative encounters there.
First time I went there to buy some used plastic pots. The wife owner told me the price. I started to choose pots. After several minutes, she came back to me and increased the price. Then when I went to check out, her husband tried to charge me an even higher price. I told him his wife gave a different price. He insisted on his price. It was frustrating so I did not buy.
Another time, I went to buy a plant. There were two of the exact same plants in the same size pot. One had a price tag, the other one did not. The one without the tag looked slightly better. I took that one. When I went to check out, the male owner started to charge me a higher price. I told him that was not correct, and told him the listed price on the other plant. He went there to check and came back said that tag was loose and then told me it looked like it was changed. He basically accused me of changing the tag. This was very wrong. I did not buy the plant and left the store.
That is it. That are the reasons they don't deserve even one star.
HEADS UP THEY HAVE MEALYBUGS, SPIDERMITES and SCALE!
Three stars because every plant I buy from there comes with some sort of bug infestation. I just had to kill off spider mites and mealybugs for the last week due to buying 4 plants from there and not realizing they dont treat plants here for any type of bugs.
They have great variety of hard to find plants but they pricey; they won’t go any lower, I bought some 3 gallon guava plants that were priced for 30 bucks, at check out, they (the lady) tried to charged me 55 bucks plus 15% taxes. They seem greedy to take somebody’s money just like that; other nurseries give seasonal discounts, I go to Fairbanks now even thou is way further!
I purchased a un-label-marked bamboo that was $29 as the lady tell me, they charged me $50 when check out by the rude gentlemen and the employee refused to load the item to my car.one day after, I found this tree of bamboo is only $12 at Houston Garden Center.
I found a persimmon tree there. They had three types of persimmon trees. Very impressive. There really isn't anyone there to help you there, though. But I really didn't need any help.
Very very rude employees, they have not even basic courtesy. They have very large collections of asian plant/ tree /vegetbales but they don't care about customers. Very massy place. Will never go to that place again and won't recommend to any my friend. Giving one star for thier plant collections.
Ppl r so rude, I don’t know the reason but both lady n a guy are so bad with customers service. They don’t want customer or they simply hate certain customer.
The place is a mess.dont wear nice shoes they will get muddy and the pathways are full of dead plants and plastic containers. Plants dont have prices. The ones that do are in Chinese, so unless tou can read that, you waste your tome. Plant selection is not very good. They have nice orchids, plumerias and bonsais but the rest is not in very good condition. I couldnt tell what was where and how much plants cost. Again no prices on most plants. The parking lot was messy and blocked with so many cars. They had a guy trying to direct traffic but it was hectic and dangerous for him. I felt bad. Just go down to sugarland. They have better ones there and it’s worth the drive.
Variety, customer service and quality is all great here. I’ve been buying all sorts of plants and trees and they don’t fall ill. There’s a lot of unique plants here you won’t find at Home Depot or Walmart.
Lovely place! Beautiful orchids, Succulents, bonsai, and so much more! Totally love this place!
They have a huge variety of ok to low quality plants with average prices. The nursery is Very crowded and not easy to get around. If they had better customer service I probably would have given them 3 stars but I was ignored once and then told to look at the tag when I asked a question about a plant (it didn't have a tag).
The only good thing about this nursery is the variety of bonsai and seasonal ornamentals.
Although we had a good service, we were told our Christmas tree was a kind that would smell very good and last long. It might be a Chinese tree since it doesn't smell anything and it is already dry, even with the $20 bucks tree base they sold us that you can find at hobby lobby at $7. And I've been adding water every day. So if you are looking for a Christmas Tree, look elsewhere.
Yes, plants are good but their attitude is too rude towards coloured people, they don't smile, welcome or appreciate business they get from us.
A nice selection of plants: common landscaping plants, fruit trees, vegetables (hard to find Asian varieties included), orchids, cacti, bonsai, and more unusual things like Nepenthes (tropical pitcher plants). They also have a pretty nice selection of pots and pottery which can be hard to find in the area and expensive at big box stores, but here they are fairly priced. The only downside and reason for the -1 star is for Customer service. The gentleman there is grumpy and unhelpful, sometimes there is a lady there that is much nicer so I'd look for her. The parking lot is tiny too and a little steep and sharp, and sometimes landscapers with trailers take up a large section of it.
The plants are beautiful and such a vast variety along with many plants, but it is soooo crowded!
Awesome nursery. The only place in town I could find a kaffir lime tree. Greta little hidden gem. Lots of Asian plants not carried by the main nurseries in town.
