We met Dr. Ahn in the ER at Medical City Lewisville after her PCP and an ortho back surgeon did not help my 87 year old mother. Dr. Ahn immediately took action and performed surgery on Mom's back. In 6 weeks she has movement in her legs that haven't moved in months! Dr. Ahn has been caring, attentive, and transparent in all prognosis. The office staff at Texas Back Institute has also been supportive and reliable.

I came to Dr. Ahn not knowing what the source of my low back pain was. Through imaging and a few other tests we discovered that my injury was not one that would require surgery or injections. Even though my issue was something a lot simpler than what he probably sees every day, he took the time to clearly explain what was going on and the steps needed to get me back to a pain free lifestyle. At no point did he try to push any procedures or extra costs on me. He's personable, relatable, and genuinely cares about improving the day to day lives of his patients. Highly recommend!

Prior to having back issues I was living the life of an adventurer. Enter my back issues and a life of pain and rarely leaving the house. Each step was excruciating pain, we tried injections multiple times and therapy. Dr. Ahn gave me a path back to my regular life. He has an amazing bedside manner and explains everything in terms you can understand. He also lets you know that the surgery is your choice.
Dr. Ahn has the rare quality of truly caring for his patients. In some surgeons you find they are good but lacking in either the patience with you during the process, being available or an amazing support staff (Erica) when they are in surgery. Dr. Ahn kept me informed throughout the process. He personally spoke with my family twice, after my surgery and while in recovery. He and his office are truly amazing and you’re in great hands with honest answers to your questions. I can’t thank you enough Dr. Ahn, from the heart and beyond the stars I appreciate you.

Amazing and supportive! Dr. Ahn went above and beyond to treat my father’s spine through spine surgery. He’s very intelligent and experienced in the field. Highly recommend to Korean patients with a language barrier.

Dr. Ahn was very thorough and gave me good instructions on how to relieve my back pain. Worked out great doing home exercises. No more pain went from a 10 to 1.

After a fall, I brought my elderly father in to see Dr. Ahn for neck and back pain. He was so very kind and compassionate. (Given my experience with doctors dealing with elderly patients, I found many can be a bit dismissive, but not Dr. Ahn;). Dr. Ahn ordered an MRI and patiently walked us through the imaging. He showed us areas of concern, as well as those areas that looked good, and explained why. Being a surgeon, one might expect Dr. Ahn to encourage surgery, but he was honest and explained why it was not necessary. Instead, he wrote a script for physical therapy. Dr. Ahn was very attentive to my father’s needs. Thank you, Dr. Ahn!

Great service from the front office staff to seeing Dr. Ahn. Dr. Ahn explained everything to me, made sure I understood, and allowed me to ask as many questions as I could. I didn't feel like a patient, but a person. My pain has also decreased and I'm feeling much better.

I am very happy that I met Dr. Junyoung Ahn to treat my disc issue. Dr Ahn was very attentive to my leg pain and inability to walk unassisted. He methodically treated me first with less aggressive treatments of physical therapy and then injections. The injection did relieve pain for a few weeks but the pain did return. Dr. Ahn took time to explain what the issues were and drew diagrams and used a spinal model to help explain what was necessary to resolve the issue. Dr. Ahn seems very concerned with his patients and cares about their quality of life. He performed the discectomy which has now freed me from the severe pain in my leg. I have been able to walk 4-5 miles a day the last two weeks pain free. I feel very fortunate to have had Dr. Ahn as my doctor and surgeon.

If you are needing a surgeon who truly cares about his patients, Dr. Ahn is the one you want. I originally went to see Dr. Ahn seeking a second opinion regarding a cervical fusion of several levels, because of cervical myelopathy. Dr. Ahn’s diagnosis agreed with the first surgeon I had seen. I chose to have Dr. Ahn do the surgery because he really impressed me with his knowledge and ability to explain my disease and what needed to be done so that it didn’t progress. Dr. Ahn also explained and answered all of the questions my family had. He was never rushed and always made sure all of our questions were answered.
Dr. Ahn is very personable and has texted me several times to see how I was doing. Dr. Ahn truly cares about his patients, and I highly recommend him. Also, all of his office staff are kind and helpful.
