Katy Budget Books reviews
16Spend your money at a better books store, they said two books were brand new and let me tell you. As a experienced book reader you can tell they are in new condition but have been read. Scam. They charged like the book was new. The ticket price they said. Worst company and to lie.
This place has always been great. We've donated hundreds of books here and bought hundreds more. Been going here for 15 years since they've been off fry.
I brought a container of books to them like we always do. The guy behind the counter gave me a box to put them in. He looked for their smallest one. Never made eye contact. Looked at the ground entire time. He said i have to get them all in there with the lid on. I got all the books into their box except for 7.
I went in and the now lady behind the counter refused my books because i couldn't get them all in the box. No exceptions because they just couldn't handle 7 more books. Just was really important to stand firm. You won KBB. I F'd around and found out.
Both employees were really apathetic. Just terrible service. I dont even care for store credit. If they'd had just looked at them and didnt give me penny, i wouldn't have cared. These were just kids mostly books i dont want throw away. I'd just have been happy to get books to kids.
I'm not a write a review guy but whats really terrible is we made the effort to schedule an appointment with them, spent 15 minutes outside just to transfer books from one box to another. I respected their process but they showed such little regard and value to our time as a customer.
Great spot to find a good book at a reasonable price. Staff is very knowledgeable & helpful.
Rearranged everything since the last time we were there, but easy enough to find what we were looking for. Cashiers are fast and not pushy on getting the membership card
This is a great place to resell your books and find some really great books! They have new releases for sale, too! Oh did I mention they have some really unique gifts!
Very pricey for used books. Also very left leaning, in-your-face as soon as you walk through the door, politics for Katy.
Okay we left here saying not only why have we not been here in so long and wow this place is truly an awesome place. When she opened the cover of this particular book and it said $1.50! That’s when she really had us ready to come all summer long. You get credit for reading in used books. Such a fun spot with so much more than incredible selection of books. Highly recommend!
Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff and an inviting atmosphere. The store carries new and used books, in a wide range of subjects.
A simple and nice bookstore. I've sold several books to them and received a decent value for them. It's definitely more worth it to sell books here than to sell books to Half Priced Books.
I don't appreciate that they stamp the side of the books with their store name though. It ruins the book's aesthetic and it is quite unnecessary. There are other methods to "mark" their books.
It's okay. I preferred the old location as it held more books and more people. This location just feels crowded. No real "system" to sell my books back either.
First time going here and not sure if I want to go back. It is a cute small store however the pricing is weird. Me and my sister asked the cashier how does the pricing work since I didn't see any signs. They told us that it was 1/2 off for paperbacks and the handbooks had prices written on the inside cover. After we each picked out huge stacks of books and were checking out they changed the pricing and they said some books were full priced and some were half. There is no distinction on which is full price or half, all the books are placed together in the shelves. It really confusing! It would be more helpful to separate the new and used.
My favorite book store! I've been going to Katy Budget since I was 8 years old. This new location is a bit smaller than the old one, but it still has a very wide selection of new and used books to choose from.
My family and I have been going to Katy Budget Books for over 20 years and have so many wonderful memories (especially the Harry Potter parties/midnight releases)! I love that their used book credit never expires and the used books are SO inexpensive. They have a pretty wide selection as well, and the employees are nice and helpful.
They had a great selection of books and learning devices for kids. The selection had new and used books including a way to get rewards.
Features an interesting, eclectic, ever-changing inventory; good deals on a wide range of books; great selection of rare and collectible vintage books; friendly, helpful service
The pricing is confusing. The labels on the back of the books do not correlate to price. My preteen was very upset and put back a whole stack of books. The store is a little overwhelming and feels crowded. And not in a good "Let's go treasure hunting" way. Unless you read popular fiction or romance there isn't much of a selection.
