Kau ba has been my go-to for one of the better pho and over cajun food. (Location and food quality) However I have to state how dissatisfied I was with my recent online ordering process. I ordered ahead through their website and after waiting for over 10 mins after they stated they were working on the order, I was informed that the order did not come through. Fully understand that there are technical issues but at no time was there an apology, the manager was just sitting minding her business and did not even look at my face to explain the situation. (Had to suggest to the team to place the order manually so they can work on the order after no action). After waiting 40 mins they were able to give me the pho but the egg rolls still required another 7 mins which is absurd. Therefore I cancelled the egg rolls and then had to specifically ask for the refund for the prepayment of the egg rolls.

Fully understand that there are technical issues, big issue is how the staff/management responds to these situations. I believe that can separate one restaurant from another in a crowded market. Will likely start entertaining other locations with this experience. Simply disappointing

Food was good and tasty. Definitely a bit exploitative which is a nice change. Atmosphere and service were impeccable.

Pho broth was disappointingly bland. Lacked aromatic taste more like hot beef broth. Way too hyped and overrated. Sadly not giving the community the justice and education of what true viet food taste like. Cocktails are a thumbs down just weird taste.

This place is horrendous. The manager Kat, as well as the owners are not only liars, but lack a deep sense of responsibility and empathy. I unfortunately dined at this restaurant last night and have been THROWING UP profusely since then. They have refused to do anything to help or even offer assistance or an apology. Kat said they have the owners on video eating from the same food I ate & never got sick. Which I don’t believe at all. I called back asking for a copy of video to be sent to my email, since Kat was so adamant about this video. But of course, no answer however I left a voicemail. I’m still so in shock how rude the manager was. I would never recommend this place at all. The food was not fresh, and rather than taking accountability or fixing the issue Kat become defensive and lied. I should’ve known better from the foul odour that seeped from the food. However I was optimistic and now deeply regretting dining at this place.

The food is unique. The menu gives you a taste of true vietnamese tradition. The pho was refreshing. The carpaccio was fresh and delicious. Owner is super friendly and accomodating.

Not my favorite. The food was ok. They had run out of eggs which seemed weird and left us with not as many options on the menu. The drinks were decent. I had just heard such good things so I was disappointed

The food here has been satisfactory in the past. However, our recent experience with a heavyset hispanic waitress was concerning. She prioritized orders for two tables that arrived after us. When our food finally arrived it was room temperature at best. Usually pho is served hot so that the broth can cook the beef. When questioned about her other tables arriving and finishing their meal before ours arrived, she promptly presented the payment device, and once I completed the transaction, she left without a word.

Change a lot since we have last come here, and the quality has gone down. I ordered the lemongrass chicken, and half the dish was just onions, and the chicken didn't even taste like lemongrass. A soup also came with it but it was cold and not appetizing. Will not be coming here again.

I was very disappointed in this place. We ordered Pho, Salmon with Rice, spring rolls, Ba Minh and chicken wings. Nothing was good except the Pho. The salmon came raw, spring rolls had a very weird taste and the wings were underdone. At our arrival, we noticed a funky smell in the place and the waitress held the door for the outdoors with her foot. Service wasn’t good at all. For this price range, I believe we could’ve ate some food that has a better quality and better taste.

This little hidden gem is amazing! It’s the single best pho (and I eat a bunch of pho) that I’ve had in Houston. Great patio. Lovely service and all of our food was amazing! So very very good!

Run rieu, no msg! Hard to find. Will be back to try the pho, no msg. Actually, they do not use msg at all. I did not know that before I met Nicki, the chef.

Feb 5 - another great experience. Dunt miss the Pho Loma cocktail or Betel beef. Pho sizzle was quite good, with Cajun Craze dessert taking the surprise of the night prize! See pics at end! Only negative - the cocktails are really weak on alcohol vs flavor.

Went to Kau Ba for the first time. Patio seating was perfect with cool flame heaters. Had tamarind shrimp - 4 huge shrimp delicately cooked, and the sauce did not overwhelm the shrimp. Had pork belly spring rolls which was accompanied by a nice shrimp and egg sauce. The rolls had such paper thin rice covering that it was a bit hard to hold with fingers or chopsticks. A bit messy but very tasty! Next up was the salmon from brunch menu. Absolutely perfectly cooked to the point of melting in your mouth. Ask for the habanero hot sauce which went really well with the salmon and it's slightly sweeter sauce. Brisket pho is definitely worth it. Brisket is from Truth BBQ down the street. Service was beyond perfect. Water was always full, never had to ask for anything, and dishes were all explained. They even put on gloves to pack your leftovers.

I used to order from this place all the time. My last order of Pho Ga came missing sprots, basil, and both sauces. When I called the restaurant to inquire about the missing items, the manager implied I was lying because allegedly she watched the server put those items into the bag. Why would anyone waste their time on calling the restaurant to lie about missing order items if they weren't missing? She then refused to remedy the situation. Horrible service!

I've been here a few times, the food is always delicious. Parking is atrocious and plan on spending a few minutes finding a parking spot. May need to park around the block and walk. If you sit on the patio, you might get forgotten and have to go wave down a waiter.

Our go to restaurant for Vietnamese food in Houston. Though after trying a lot of things in the menu, the only two good items are traditional pho and bun thit nuong. I would go back every few weeks just for these two things so I think this place deserves a 5 star rating for having the two items. Good server and environment. Outside patio is dog friendly.
