Kilgore College East Texas Oil Museum reviews
15Very beautiful and clean, wish there was more things for toddlers to play with and touch but overall a really cool experience and worth the trip.
Educational. All exhibits work. And some unexpected surprises. Highly recommend. Good bang for your buck.
This museum is exceptional and informative. I was truly surprised with how thorough, well kept, and detailed everything was. My kids also loved it, we spent around 3 hours there on Saturday and they’re asking when we can go back! I’d give it more than 5 stars if I could. It’s worth the visit!
Blown away by how amazing this museum is. Really a gem for 10 bucks. The souvenir shop is priced fairly imo as well
Well done. Great exhibits that are very representative of the time. We'll worth a visit.
I've lived in Kilgore all my life and I have Been here multiple times and I just wish they had more stuff in it was great and the kids loved it but I just wish they had more
Wow! We were not expecting to walk into a living boom town. Everything had such great detail down to the grass and the theatre smelling of popcorn. My family really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back to visit. Staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable and made sure we had a great experience, which we did. I'm still in awe of the amount of work that went into making this possible for all to enjoy!
Thank you!
The history of Kilgores oil boom comes to life in this wonderful museum. Step back in time to 1930 as you stroll the walks of an oil boom town. Short films and interactive exhibits help to complete the experience. Very nice artifacts and a friendly knowledgeable staff round out the visit. I have visited many museums throughout small town Texas and this is one of the best!
Great experience.love how you seem to step back in time.wish I could have enjoyed it more I had a toddler with me, lol. Cute puppet elevator show.
A wonderful little museum chocked full of artifacts and anamtronics and information. Very clean. Kid friendly. Really informative of the oil boom and business in the area in the 1930's.
If you haven't been to this wonderful museum, GO! I was not expecting to walk through a life sized, re-created oil booming town, but we sure did, all tucked in this fabulous museum. My 10yr old hasn't stopped talking about it since we left. The ladies working there were very helpful and ready to take you on a tour. Or you can just enjoy at your leisure. My family
will be back for sure.
Visited over 30 yrs ago, was excited to go back. Sits on a college campus, which was out for spring break, so museum was also closed. No sign on door; nothing on website; had to call and hear recording that explained closure. Wasted trip off I-20. Nice town, though.
Drove from mineola all the way to Kilgore just for them to tell us they are closed for spring break. Could of at least had that Memo on the website!
Always a good visit. Good history of the East Texas oilfields. Military/ Veteran and Senior discount.
No doubt- a place that is a MUST when traveling to east Texas.
Bring your kids and grandkids for an amazing visit of Old Texas - they'll love it!
