Killeen Animal Services reviews
17I wanted one of there dogs they told me it would be ready today I get there for them to tell me this dog is going to another rescue im very upset they tell me one thing and then another this is twice now they have done this why post the animals on line If your not even going to let people adopted them why are the smaller breeds getting privileged but, the other dogs are lefted behind and to make it worse they send the dogs to a diffrent state
Would give them no stars if it was a option this place gives free adoptions but wants you to pay for rabies and starlation witch is there job or should be.and will drag you in to court for fees and fines for there crapy city So be aware of free adoption days it will cost you.
I normally have no issues with this shelter but I've been calling them for about 3 hours about a stray cat hanging around my apartment. It's super sweet and friendly but I can't take it in. Today is my last day in my apartment because my landlord has been nice enough to let me stay a couple extra days due to me being sick with what I thought was covid. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be. I don't want to push my luck by asking to stay longer simply so I can take this cat to the shelter in the morning because the shelter doesn't want to answer their phones. It seems relatively healthy and a good weight for it's size and weight. I would take it with me to where I'm moving but the person I'm moving in with doesn't really want the cat I have at the house and definitely doesn't want another one. Plus, my cat isn't fond of other cats due to being used to being the only cat in the house for the last 14 years. So Killeen animal shelter if you see this please call me back.
Incredibly sweet and accommodating staff. So many loving animals that are ready to be adopted today. We got 2 kittens for free!
They were really helpful and we were able to get us a new family member that is a perfect fit for our household. I would of gave 5 Stars but this is the first shelter that I've been to that didn't spay/neuter the animals or get their shots up to date. Other then that they are very good
This shelter is great. The staff is very caring and helpful in choosing a pet. First place I would go for another furry friend!
Adopted 2 3 month old puppies. They indicated on paperwork that they were physically in good condition however, they had poor skin condition and a respiratory infection. When I brought the skin condition to their attention they kept diverting and stating they were not responsible for their condition after they leave, looks like they are not while there either. Not Vet on site to care for animals properly.
Sold me a dog with parvo and didn’t help pay for the medical bills or ANYTHING. I had her for 2 days when she got sick. Wouldn’t even look at her when she was sick. Cost me $3,500 and my dog didn’t even make it. I had her less than a week. They don’t take care of their animals.
The upgrade to the front office is great. There personal/ employees are very friendly and helpful. I can't thank them enough for the help and support they gave me. And for my loveable pet. Little thing.
Please look at the animals condition before you adopt. Alot of the kittens and cats had ear infections. The inside of their ears were pitch black. I don't think the shelter takes good care of the animals there.
The staff here are very kind and professional. Working in animal shelters can't be easy and even though they were super busy they were very helpful. They have many wonderful and sweet cats ready for homes (hint: check out Rimadyl!) and I recommend them 100%.
Will provide false information to the Killeen Municipal Court resulting you being forced to "donate" to them. Keep very strict notes and document everything you do with them.
DO NOT GO HERE!
Please read this if you’re considering getting a let from this facility. We adopted a kitten from this shelter last year which was given to us VERY sick and weak. However the papers they gave us after adopting the cat said the cat was healthy.
Not thinking much of it we brought the cat home who constantly had a stuffed nose and even had bloody nose from time to time.
We took the kitten to our local vet and got the cat treatment for $200 out of pocket. And the poor kitten unfortunately passed away later that week. We called the shelter MANY times to let them know the cat passed however nobody there knows how to answer a phone. Soon enough we get a court summon over not vaccinating the kitten who DIED. We had to go to multiple court dates and explain to them that the kitten passed away. And ultimately had to give THEM a donation of $25 to dismiss the case.
They do not take care of the animals, the dogs are left in the heat, and the cats are cross contaminated. I hope they get taken down for abuse because it’s clearly ONLY about making money, not helping pets in need. The staff is also extremely rude and unprofessional as a cherry on top!
Closed for renovations today (July 29) which I only found out when I arrived. People who clearly work here walked in, ignored me, and locked the door behind them so they can’t help a stray I found.
KAC NEEDS MORE WORKERS. They Are extremely understaffed and they are too many fur babies out on the streets suffering in this 100+ degree heat. I found a dog that I actually called KAC about yesterday. But I had to wait until 9am to surrender him. The staff was somewhat friendly, the area behind their desk was kind of junky looking with dog and cat food everywhere. The entire lobby area smelled like cat pee. Now the cat pen is right next to the door but it still should not smell like that. That strong. Anyway, I was able to safely surrender the dog, so that's a good thing. The little guy was found in Willow springs on Linda Ln
Jessica Green is very rude and unprofessional. We had an issue with emailing them proof of rabies and sterilization for our dog, and they just went ahead and sent it to court, and gave us a fine. Since the email was said to be blurry. Would suggest to adopt form a different shelter since. I Have three pets that I adopted from Harker Heights and never had a problem and people there are very nice. Save yourself from all the hassle and don’t adopt from them, only if you will show proof of vaccination and sterilization in person. The animals should go to a loving home but these employees are so rude, I will unfortunately not go back.
They took forever and put an anxious dog in where it was incredibly loud which upsets her. They made her get ANOTHER rabies shot as hers came from frickin Austin. She is 10 years old, and she better have suffered no lingering problems from that mess.
