La Villita Cafe, San Antonio TX

La Villita Cafe is a quaint Mexican style cafe with a Tex/Mex cuisine, consisting of all day breakfast, wraps, sandwiches, soups and salads. When you walk in the door you will be handed a menu and you will have plenty of time to make up your mind while you wait in line. The menu isn’t that big and even the large iced tea isn’t that big. I chose to add a side of fries with my Chicken Sandwich on Ciabatta bread. And, yes, the fries were not plentiful. My actual sandwich was a decent size and my wife’s omelette was also a decent size. Still, if you’re hungry and in the area, then give this place a try. The length of the waiting line seems to indicate how popular this place is.

P. S. I was plenty surprised when I was asked if I wanted a refill on my iced tea. Usually a place like this doesn’t offer free refills. Thanks!

I normally do not leave detailed reviews, but this was warranted. My family and I arrived at La Villita Café just before a rush of people came in. The person working at the counter, Zach, was friendly and accommodating when my kids were trying to pick out their ice cream flavors. He quickly was able to serve us a couple of ice cream cones while the next patrons were deciding, then, juggling between the register and prepping the food/drinks for customers, was able to serve everyone with the same friendly service, regardless of the busyness of the café. Having spoken with him afterwards, I found that their staff was down a person, and yet, it wouldn't have been noticed by any of the patrons as they all worked diligently with a welcoming attitude. I can't say enough about our experience there, and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thanks Zach and the staff at La Villita Café!

So good. Incredible food and super friendly service. What a great kick off to our Riverwalk experience. Breakfast tacos, burrito, and avocado toast, all incredible. Plus a great coffee bar. Can’t go wrong!

The place is kinda hidden but I think we entered through the right side. There was a long line so if you’re an inpatient person it’s recommended to distract yourself by going outside seeing the water fountain. We waited in line for about 25-35 minutes but for our food it was quick. You have to grab a table as soon as you see it available it fills up quickly! Nobody will seat you anywhere. They do clean the table if you ask them to since they’re super busy attending the rest of costumers. Once we were seated we were asked twice if everything was alright or if we need anything else. Food was surprisingly not bad it was actually good will come again soon!:)

The food was great! Sabrina is amazing! She made sure we were aware of their specials and she kept checking on us to make sure we were good and kept our table clean. Very nice hard working young lady.

Nice clean venue, outdoor dog-friendly seating, good portions, tasty food, but most importantly the five stars comes mostly from the service being very friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a cheaper quick breakfast near the riverwalk I would recommend eating here.

We were welcomed by who I assume was the owner since we came in and he enthusiastically gave my large group and i menus, recommendations from the menu, and even checked in on us right after we finished eating. Food was quick to come out and everything tasted amazing! Everyone was so sweet the entire time! Owner even gave us a free taco after our meal, great touch! It is such a nice atmosphere! 10/10! Also, don’t let lien intimidate you, it goes quick and it’s actually really worth it!

Got hungry leaving our hotel figured we try a new spot. Saw a long line and figured the food had to be amazing! Boy were we wrong, we stood in line for 20 minutes only to wait another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. My girls order came out perfect (2 chorizo & egg breakfast tacos) I ordered the Benedict (unfortunately they were out of brisket) I added chorizo to my Beni instead of the brisket. My order came out with no chorizo and oil all over my fruit. I sent it back and they brought me back the chorizo in a cup. 3/5 cause the breakfast tacos were pretty good.

Si te gusta tacos de chorizo con huevo y salsa buena entonces este lugar NO ES para ti! Chorizo was bland, meat was chili like not even a lil bit of TexMex. Nada. I paid for a breakfast platter TO GO but found out way later I got half the order. Cappuccino was alright. 2 stars for Good location and atmosphere tho.

The only reason this wasn't a one-star review is because the staff was friendly. However, La Villita Cafe is just another example of a tourist trap with a great location and disgusting food. I was essentially overcharged for hotel breakfast. Walking in, I was in love with the atmosphere. The restaurant appears to be place in an old mission. I was greeted with a cheery, "Hello, " which further drew me into the facade. The lack of a kids menu was the first sign that this was not a restaurant meant for families. Iordered French toast and received the driest bread short of croutons. The eggs were either liquid or powdered, but freshly not cracked. I specifically requested eggs scrambled with cheese and only received the grey lump with cheese haphazardly strewn on top. Lastly, the "complimentary water" that i ordered as a beverage was served in the smallest cups, as if to force people into paying for their overpriced Pure Life water. Honestly, it's pathetic that this is what qualifies as a good rated restaurant downtown. Just another example of the extortion tourists face here on the riverwalk.

My favorite thing about this cafe is that they selling beautiful art. Will definitely come back to buy some painting.

Great restaurant! The owner greeted us right when we walked in. You could tell the employees like working there and they are constantly working to keep everyone accommodated (considering how busy they were). I will definitely come back here when I visit San Antonio again.

First timer. The line was not long but with just three people in front of me, it took forever! Not sure what went down. I ordered a brisket and avocado taco - BIG mistake! Paid nearly $6 for this taco. The amount of meat would have been okay if it wasn't dripping with grease and if it had real slices of "avocado" and it came with real salsa or pico de Gallo. The avocado was really some leftover guacamole. The salsa was really a liquid hot sauce on the side. Very, very disappointing! Kudos to the staff that was cleaning the entire time I was there. My husband's wrap looked good. I don't think I will ever come back here for food again. Perhaps for ice cream because it was labeled Bluebell but even so I would rather buy it from the grocery store. Disappointed.

If you're looking for a comfortable, relaxed earing location, try La Villita. My wife and I did breakfast on our last day in San Antonio. Best place by far for breakfast. We ordered the Omelet plate and the Village breakfast, both very tasteful! The entire staff was extremely pleasant. Wish we found it sooner but definitely a memorable experience!

I came in to get a quick coffee and stumbled upon a drink called big Tex. It is coffee with ice cream and it is the best combination of coffee and ice cream together that I have tasted in quite some time. The weather is nice and the people are nice in here as well.

Lovely cafe in the artisan La Villita area. We had the French toast breakfast and it was delicious! The toast, eggs, bacon were all cooked perfectly. Will definitely return on our next San Antonio Riverwalk trip.

A good be star from me means EVERYTHING was perfect and this experience was close. The food was amazing, in fact I was impressed with the portion, presentation, price, and taste. I took pictures afterwards because once I took my first bite I could not stop, Sorry! The big problem is you have to find this place. The signage helps but we almost gave up due to the construction and the twists and turns. Do not use your Google directions just follow the signage. Special shout out to Zack for making us feel special. If you don't get breakfast here you will miss out on a great experience. Thumbs up!

Everything is locally sourced and delicious! The staff are friendly and the service is quick. Cool ambiance and convenient if you’re downtown. What else could you want? Try the brisket tacos for breakfast!

This place was excellent, we were created right away. Received a total walk through of the whole breakfast menu. Food was brought to the table and served before I even could feel any amount of hunger. Brandy was such an amazing server/ cashier/all of thee above she made our first time visit memorable and will be sure to return! 5 star visit
