La Villita Historic Arts Village reviews
24Not much to say about this place other than it is very average. It's not bad by no means, with pretty architecture, however nothing stood out to me. The cafe was very crowded and over-priced. It seemed like a ghost town, everyone was just packed into one small cafe.
Wonderful blend of history, art and shopping! Unfortunately, we went the day after NIOSA, so the whole place was a wreck, but we understood why. Still fell in love with the Villa Tesoro shop and had a nice brunch at the cafe. Would like to go back on our next visit to SA, because my memories of the village on a normal day are lovely.
Worked this area seeing up Noosa this year. Over all good experience but ship keeps were ride to the people settling up and breaking down booths
NIOSA
To crowded for my opinion, we are fully vaccinated, but there where many people walking less then 1 foot appart
Very cool spot in the arts district serving up fresh food at a decent price! Highly recommended!
Family in San Antonio for a reunion. A group of us went to the Village and were very disappointed to find all but a couple places closed. Granted it was festival week, but the website did not have anything about the places being closed.
It's a hit or miss place. But if you dig walking by a bunch of closed artisan shops then you're in luck.
Best phrase to descibe it is, "unrealized potential".
This place has everything a tourist could dig.
Beautiful architecture, brick pavement, a fountain or two. Plazas.
Problem is that the place is dead most of the time.
Sure there's a hand full of stores that are open. But artists and musicians are the exception and not the rule as far as I've seen over the years.
When they do have an event it's pretty cool.
Great place to walk around with friends and family in the middle of the city. Wasn’t able to go to the shops because many of them close pretty early, but it was a nice view and place to take pictures and explore if you never been. Can be hot in the summer, the area is pretty easy to get familiar with.
Watched the Scrooge play and it was great. The only thing that bothered me was as we sat to the far left mid way down we passed a fountain or something with a drain that smelled really bad maybe like urine. Where we sat you couldn’t really smell it only when you pass it by. Take something to sit on as the seats are concrete and grass. Also they don’t have concession so if you take your kids take some snacks and water. Parking was across the street for $10.
Fun place to visit in old San Antonio. Many wonderful artists' shops, boutiques and bodegas. A miniature version of Sausalito, CA. You can see and purchase typical tourist items and memorabilia. It boasts some very fine jewelry and art for sale. Additionally, there are public restrooms and a well-stocked restaurant. La Villita is historic, dating back to the original Spanish settlers. It has great access to the River Walk. A must see attraction in San Antonio, proximal to downtown.
Always love visiting La Villita. Beautiful area with lots to see. I also got married at the the little historic church in La Vallita.
Here new years eve and day, walked the whole place, very scenic especially at night, there were porta pots at the entrance of the celebration and the only other restrooms were in the park in the village, there should have been more porta pots scattered through the village instead of walking so far and waiting in a line to see if you would pee on yourself or not, the daiquiris were weak but tasted good, live bands were very good, satisfaction finished the night with rolling stones songs, the guitarists were excellent, the fireworks were astounding, the crowd in the back was very pushy, strong advice, starting at 11pm new years eve, if you're at the stage get to a spot and hold your ground because people will try to get in anywhere, not a fan of disc jockeys nor the one that came on stage, we were expecting to eat after 12 o'clock but all the vendors shut down a 12, big disappointment, went to the room hungry, the Westin hotel was good, book in advance for much better prices, we called for food at 1am but never received it, woke up this morning at 6 an or so, went down and bought a raisin roll for $4
Cool little courtyard setup with small shops.a few restaurants, candle shop, art shops. There was a health festival in the courtyard when we were there and it’s only a few blocks away from the mall and river walk entrances.
Beautiful village. The cafes the stores the energy is so beautiful here. They have markets or something going on every weekend
Zombie Walk 2018 is currently happening.
There are all kind of things that go on here year round. One of the biggest being NIOSA. Every year we come down for the elbow to elbow but grinding walk all night and get no where trip to around the world. From German town to Mexico ITS all here.
Awesome little area of artistic shops. Worth the time, won't take long. Very unique items from jewlery, paintings, clothing etc, all done by local artists. Don't miss put if you like that sort of thing! And a few good restaurants too!
If you like history and shopping and friendly people, this is the place for you. Some of the buildings are 300+ years old, and have windows set into the walls to show how they were built. The shopkeepers are ambassador/historians who are just as happy to talk about the building as they are to talk about their wares. There is no hard sell; they are happy that you stopped by for a look. Most shops have comfy "spouse" seating outside, so the shopping can commence, unimpeded, inside.
We visited San Antonio on vacation. We loved riding the Bird scooters all around downtown. On one of our journeys of exploration we visited La Villita. We enjoyed a few of the galleries and the copper shop.
Beautiful place. Friendly staff that is very helpful. The only thing I didn't like was the parking situation.
We had a wonderful time walking in and out of the many shops. Lots of hand crafted jewelry options and art galleries. Shops are small and the folks were very friendly. Great for able bodied, wheelchairs or folks that don't do steps well would have difficulty.
