Lake Colorado City State Park reviews
20Quick stay overnight traveling to Cloudcroft, NM. Sites were nicely spaced. Relatively level. Can’t speak for any activities due to our short stay.
Was a very exciting trip for the day. Water was low due to drought, but it was a very pretty place to hang out for the day.
We caught different types of fish my grandsons had a field day just catching fish after fish but not big enough to take home
Nice site. Lake Park campground Map did not indicate between loops impassable due to Cacti. Closest Restroom was down long road & it was CLOSED!
Me and my wife love it here.took the grandkids and they loved it as well.great fishing.great swimming.nice camping areas.clean bathrooms and showers.
Another great place to visit … the park was clean and quiet …of course the lake was low but lots of fun with family and friends… everyone enjoyed the trip and had a great time
Keeping in mind we are in a desert. The lake is really nice. The birds are everywhere. Took me awhile to get used to them but it’s cool how many types there are. Rangers are friendly. Power lines are on the North end of tent camping. Not a big fan but now I know. Showers were cold but it keeps me young and vigor. Haha. Check it out. I enjoyed.
Update: The last day the shower was warm. Setting was in the middle. Have to find the sweet spot.
Came in late June on a Tuesday the place is a ghost town very few campers. Constant light wind and low humidity to make a comfortable stay.
A very nice Campground for a couple nights.
There are water and electric sites up to 50amp for RV's. There are electric only also. We saw lots of wildlife while visiting including prairie dogs, rabbit, snakes, all kinds of cool bugs.
Had a great hike on the trails there. Even though it was about 100° outside.
Not much else around but a great place to stop and have some peace and quiet.
It was clean and lake looked clean also. They do need trash cans out by the picnic tables by the lake. That was a huge inconvenience.
Passed through. Partial RV Hookups, lots of sites available. Fairly level sites. Clean campsites and bathhouse. Easy check in after hours. For our rig $22 and plus per person fees.
The cabins here are so cute, clean, and fairly roomy for a small cabin. The staff here are amazing and friendly! Would definitely return.
Very well maintained state park. All facilities are taken care of and clean. Park staff was helpful and answered any questions we had. Only thing lacking was it wasn't very scenic. The water didn't even look inviting on this warm, somewhat humid day. Would only go back if I had to.
This is a peaceful state park, sites are spaced generously. Unfortunately the hosts are not cleaning the bathrooms. In the Rolling Hills loop, there was no toilet paper in the one bathroom for at least two days. Filth around shower and toilet areas, and NO locks on bathroom stalls doors in the Rolling Hills loop. (That was a fun experience.) Also no privacy in shower stalls, no door or no shower curtain.
Currently here to get away from the city and relieve some tension with my cousin for his birthday from the pandemic mess. The state park is pretty nice, it has a nice naturist ambience that can easily relax you. However, the park is nearly on its last when it comes to the pollution. You can't even enjoy the scenary without accidentally stepping on rusted "Bud Lights " and "CocaCola". The lake also has some sort of toxins in it because there are a substantial amount of dead fish lining the shore of the lake. Your best bet to enjoy your getaway is to stay far, and I mean far guys from the lake, did I mention it smells. Flies are also a major problem. Guys, when I say these flies are adamant I mean it, like they are relentless. On the contrary, the erosion from the natural power of the water rising and falling is eye candy on so many levels. Ultimately, the lesson I learned here is that a lot of people don't value things until it's gone. WORLDWIDE POLLUTION HAS TO STOP. ️
Large, level, gravel sites. 50 & 30 amps available. Dump station at exit of each camping loop. Fairly large park containing about 138 sites (including ones for tents). Lake level is way down at the moment (only about 1/3 full) with deepest points only being about 20ft. This lake was only half full one year ago, so seems to be in a prolonged drought. Still, good hiking trails and access to shore fishing. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
The water level is pretty low and the fishing wasnt good at all. But if you just want to swim and picnic then it's not terrible.
Friendly staff and clean air conditioned cabins. The lake looks a little stagnant but it's a nice place for a short camping stay. We walked along the lakeside and saw many birds and dragonflies.
This park has the smoothest and least stressful check in process of any state park I've been to. The park was very clean and laid back. We will be back to this one again!
Beautiful semi-unknown spot close to the city but feels remote! Lots of bugs because it is close to the water. My camp site was right on the water above some cool little cliffs. I reserved online and it was a super smooth process!
