Lakewood on Henderson, Dallas TX

Worst apartment I have ever lived in my life. These are not where you want to live if they could stop the shenanigans it would be nice.

Edit: They were purchased by a new company. I really wish the old one was still operating the property as so far, the new one is not giving a good impression at all.

As somebody who works in leasing, there are very easy and small steps that every management company can take to at least be decent, but they drop the ball consistently. If I were to provide the quality of service that I have been shown so far, I would be fired in 3 seconds.

For one, its been 4 months now and they still don't have a website. Not a big deal in itself but kind've a red flag that should have told me how they run things.

There has been 3 inches of mud on the walkway by the main entrance to my apartment since I moved in. Good luck getting to your car without soaking your shoes in mud if it is raining. They probably haven't even noticed.

They don't keep their word. I have been told multiple times that Pest control will come to spray bi-weekly. They have yet to come a single time.

They rarely respond to my my questions or emails.
A month ago, I stopped being able to open my dishwasher, meaning until it is opened, I have one fork and two plates. I requested help. Still nothing. I texted, emailed. No response. Yet they are always quick to text me when it involves taking my money.

Their leasing office is only open M-F during business hours and is 20 minutes away from the property. Not convenient at all for those who work a 9-5.

Its not an absolute craphole to live in but I can't say I recommend it to anybody.

My sister has been living there for the last year and until recent new ownership was ok at best but now she’s spent nearly a week begging and calling anyone to get a toilet fixed and nobody will call her back or do maintenance. I would highly not recommend this place as I’m hearing most residents can’t find the owners or employees to help them with anything. She’s even called plumbers herself and they won’t fix it because she doesn’t own it. Unreal.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting a new unit at Lakewood on Henderson, and I must say that my initial impression was far from satisfactory. As soon as I walked in, it was evident that the unit was in a deplorable state. The overall cleanliness was abysmal, with dirt and grime seemingly everywhere. However, the most concerning issues were the malfunctioning AC system, which was leaking, and the dirty tub.

Immediately upon noticing these problems, I contacted the manager, Jaille Dekyi, to address the situation. To my dismay, her response was utterly dismissive and nonchalant, stating that all the apartments in the complex were in a similar condition and downplaying the significance of the issues. As someone who had recently experienced a house fire due to the negligence of my previous complex, I expressed my concern to Jaille, explaining that I had no intention of residing in a place with similar problems. I requested to speak with her manager, Veronica, hoping for a more empathetic and responsible approach.

Regrettably, my conversation with Veronica proved to be even more disheartening. Despite sharing my traumatic experience and concerns, she regarded the issues I raised as minor and irrelevant. Veronica callously refused to refund my deposit, disregarding the importance of creating a safe and habitable living environment for residents. Feeling compelled to give the place a chance, I reluctantly decided to stay for one night.

To my horror, my short stay revealed even more distressing problems. The unit was infested with roaches, posing a significant health and safety hazard. Moreover, the AC continued to leak, contradicting the assurance I had received earlier that it was a temporary issue due to the vacancy of the apartment.

Overall, my experience with Lakewood on Henderson was deeply disappointing. The lack of cleanliness, the indifferent behavior of the management, particularly by Jaille Dekyi and Veronica, the subsequent issues I encountered created an atmosphere of negligence and disregard for resident well-being. As someone who had recently faced the consequences of such negligence, I was appalled by the nonchalant attitude displayed by the management. I strongly advise prospective residents to consider these concerns seriously before choosing to live in this complex.

DO NOT APPLY HERE! This complex deserves a zero star rating. Applied a month ago and the experience has been really bad. I’ve been calling MULTIPLE times and whenever they pick up, i get a very nonchalant response from an employee telling me that they just started working on it. I had this a lot of times but at this day, still haven’t gotten any approval or denial notice…such a shame that a complex like this is still operating. My lease was supposed to be starting a week ago but i had to change my plans for this. Not to mention that I paid the 50$ application fees which i probably won’t get back…

Was decent when Mary was in charge, didn’t have management for a while after she left so it was hard to get your requests handled. Once Char was in charge, it was nothing but racist remarks n snarky comments calling the tenants & complex ghetto. Not wanting to properly handle our complaints and would have our maintenance man (who was Hispanic, mind you her son was also a maintenance man but he wouldn’t do it so I think that’s important to note) dig thru our trash WHICH THEY LOCKED so that they can fine us 50$ fines. Absolutely ridiculous, Was told I won’t be able to renew for “domestic violence” but a police report was never filed so I’m not sure where this accusation is coming from. Came home one day and Char (who they ended up “removing”) was back on the property WITH HER SON after numerous tenants complained about their behavior. Apartment was falling apart from the inside, rocks on the fireplace would fall off randomly and we had a green pool for most of the summer… there’s more to add but I’ll just end it with this. DO NOT MOVE HERE!

Update: it’s been three months since I sent them an email and gotten no response. Passed by the property to see how it’s doing and like I said before, they’re still not taking care of their trash duties and just having it sit. Called them before and still no response. They replied to my review to make themselves look good and not even try to answer my questions and help me understand why we were left on sloppy terms.

Love the community. The upgrades are absolutely stunning! After touring today and meeting with the manager, I definitely will be submitting my application.

I don't want to even give one star, its a 0 from me. I have never hated living somewhere as much as I did living here. This place is incredibly shady and the area feels very unsafe. They don't fix the gates and if you complain you get a petty + disrespectful email back with false promises and lies. The new manager is incredibly rude and is not helpful at all. They have hung up on me multiple times and they are incredibly dismissive. They do not care about their tenants and won't help. One lady (my neighbor) complained multiple times that her partner is abusive towards her and they never cared to call the police. The pictures they have posted on the website looks decent but don't let it fool you, it is just a scam. I made a mistake of not touring the apartment before signing the lease and I have regretted that everyday. For your own safety and sanity DO NOT MOVE HERE.

Such a great place to live and the staff is very helpful. Ms. Char is amazing at what she does, I feel safe and comfortable in my apartment and so glad I moved here.
