Landing at McCallum, Dallas TX

I have a positive balance on my resident portal account and I can't get a hold of anyone that can get the refund process started. I've tried all means of communication but the staff that has the ability to initiate a refund is never available. I've been trying for almost if not more than a month now. I'll update this review once I get my refund of the leftover funds.

Update: I finally got my refund thanks to the district manager

This place has been through 3 management companies. The newest one, CAF, is better than the previous 2 but I've had my struggles with them obviously. The side of the complex closer to George Bush turnpike never really had a bug problem thankfully, at least for me.

Not many parking spaces and the slots are narrow, a tiny section of the lot on both sides serves visitors, and you used to have to pay for it which was infuriating. I was pinned against pillars and a giant truck in my reserved spot. They somehow got my car, liscence plate and reserve date wrong and got mad at me when I they told me about that and told them that info was wrong.

They lost my notice to move out and I didn't collect any proof of submission even though I filled it there at the direction of a leasing agent who moved locations shortly after I handed it to her. Thankfully they were willing to shorten my notice to a month instead of 2, which I very much appreciate. Still though, a whole charge of monthly rent is a lot.

The sound proofing is poor, as I could hear loud music outside by the pool very clearly while inside. The neighbors are cool for the most part. Maintenance is abysmal so be prepared for DIY projects and to learn about home improvement, wiring, plumbing, pest control etc. You're charged for valet trash which several days are missed and the dumpster is often left overflowing. The rates are getting higher to the point that more prestigious complexes are more considerable than they used to be.

Great if you're a student at UTD as they have a shuttle bus to and from the school that's free plus a general dart bus stop. Also lots of places nearby to shop and eat at. I was also given bad instructions to send a package to their parcel box so the package got returned and I got a refund from the seller thankfully. You'll want to invest in a door camera as package theft is extremely common, which the benefit of an Amazon locker being at the nearby cicrle k is nice.

The office also has a problem with answering their phone, I had been given multiple numbers that don't work until I got a call from them with their real number. Even then, most of the time you get sent to voicemail and it is very difficult to reach the manager for issues a regular office worker can't help with.

I was even given the wrong key when I moved in and had to get the correct key the next day since the office was closed when I found out. I had lived there for 2 years. My shower didn't work the first month or 2 after moving in until I fixed the issue myself by getting and installing a high flowrate shower head. I only got their maintenance after to arrive after speaking to the Dallas tenants union (which I highly recommend, bless them) and handing the office a written notice.

I am so happy with the Service that Jennifer and Edna have given to me and my Family. If you are looking for an Apartments make sure you ask for Jennifer or Edna

The management is trying to do but sadly doesn't seem to be working. There is no hot water for the past 2 days- same old problem. The Heating system is faulty, it is not getting fixed despite several requests. They have 4 different phone numbers, none of them is a working number. You need to go directly to the office with your maintenance and other issues. Even then nothing gets done.

August 2023: Back to square one! Office staff all changed and now maintenance requests are not getting fixed. They tell you they will call you back but never do. I have submitted maintenance requests weeks ago and went to the office several times. All they say is: "Oh sorry, we will fix it next week and we'll give you a call". Then nothing happens. Also, I do not know why they even charge for a background check: there's often a bunch of addicts and crackheads moving in and hanging around the place. If you value quality of life, don't live here. Yes it's cheaper but spending the extra money somewhere else is WORTH IT.

February 2023: I can honestly say the new owners have changed this place for the better. They listen to you and they are responsive to your needs! They are trying to clean up the place too and they are making it look nice. They fixed the hot water!

Update October 2022: STILL taking cold showers every day. Today my shower won’t even turn on. When I call the office you can’t even leave a voicemail. FIX MY SHOWER MCCALLUM COMMUNITIES

March 2022: If you like having cold showers and neighbors who blast music at all hours this is the perfect place for you! Complete with a pool that has green algae in it for the entire summer! But seriously for the last few MONTHS I’ve had to heat up water on the stove to bathe in. You tell management the water is cold, they keep telling you the water is fixed already. All they do is not address your issues and lie! And this is the pool (looks like a swamp) :

The propety and their staffs are highly professional. Met with a young lady named Alexis and she was so nice and ready to help. She is calm, collected and approachable!

This is by far the worst place I’ve ever rented from! There’s never nowhere to park the office staff and the residents are racist and I feel work together because if you can’t find a place to park and park anywhere you’ll get towed but they can park wherever and be fine i don’t care what time of night it is there’s always people outside by that picnic area. It’s so much trash everywhere then there’s roaches nothing gets rid of them because they neighbors are nasty the office staff is rude especially Melissa she will come to your apartment unannounced just because she can (which she cannot) it’s not worth your hard earned money do not move here I don’t care why life lead you here DO NOT MOVE HERE YOU WILL REGRET IT!

Alexis Tovar in the Office Is Amazing She Took care of me I am Older and Disabled and she made it quick and easy. Melissa The Manager finished my move in and was Outstanding She took car of My Internet and Apartment to Make sure It was Move In Ready. These Two are A Asset To Your Company and Organization. Trust Me I Know Great When I See It.

Malisa our new Manager is a great lady she has cleared most of the drug activities away from our property she really gets what needs to be done all done she doesn't play around and I'm excited about what's to come from her and her new crew. I've been here going on 4 years and never seen the other managers do half of what she's done at landing of McCallum I have told a couple of people I know about this community I've never recommended these apartments to none of the people I know. Even the outside is well kept and the maintenance has fixed almost everything in my unit without delay. There's no over flow of trash at the trash bends I appreciate her so much and hope she stays.

They need more people working in the leasing office. The manager looked us dead in the eye when the other lady was with someone shut the door to her office instead of taking care of us. We can hear her laughing while the leasing office is FULL of people. This is a grimey complex that will charge you an arm and a leg to live in squalor. They make you charge your guest to park here. This place is unprofessional and disgusting. Glass broken everywhere, people parking in the middle of the roadways. A feeling of being unsafe while just checking the mail. A terrible, mismanaged place. They are going to respond with a generic number to call instead of trying to actually fix ANYTHING. Do better, live somewhere else.

If it was possible, I give ZERO star… worse place to be… roaches everywhere and never do pest control and charge extra for trash which never take care…. Manager is the worst I have ever seen. She always says she is under training and never give any information. IT TOOK HER FOREVER TO DRAFT contract and at last it was with wrong information. We moved out and they even never bother themselves to check when we bring the key to office and did not call back… they charge extra even in contract they say we can pay until 3rd and it was moving out date… never ever respond and even rent out our parking spot before we move out!

It is sorry to say that the current management and their behavior are not only rude but also unprofessional. They have applied a lot of undefined charges for whatever we agreed to during the lease. They just assigned a lot of random charges without prior notification.

Their maintenance team worked very rarely if we faced any issues in the apartment. We have not used the dryer and washer in one year, but they have taken charge. My apartment AC was not working during the lease but after informing the management several times but did not fix it.

It is kind of a nightmare to take the lease of the landing at McCallum. The atmosphere and management are unfavourable to stay there. I would like to recommend being aware of taking the lease from such type of community for living. Or If you take a lease here you should keep written documents very clear.

I can’t speak on the actual quality of this place, but I will say that if you’re looking to tour to do it with Jennifer! She’s the best leasing agent I’ve ever met, and I don’t say these things lightly. She’s incredibly personal, real, and down to earth. It’s like touring with a friend!

I had the pleasure of working with Alexis to solve my issues and get my resident profile fixed. She helped me get my vehicle registered safely and understand my charges. She knew exactly what to do when my portal was not behaving as expected and answered all my questions knowledgeably. A great experience, thank you Alexis!

My sister lives here said she submitted work orders a month ago for her disposal and bath tub not working and they haven’t sent maintenance to fix the issues. She called the office and they said they would print out the orders and get them taken care of and no one came

Took these incompetent slow people 2 WEEKS to tell me i was denied because of some "software" they use to tell me my pay stubs are "falsified" even after getting verification from my employer. They couldn't even tell me what the error codes are to confirm why they show false.
And then i have to keep calling back to get updates.
Run! Please do your self a favor and steer clear because this place is NOT legit. I should've took these reviews seriously instead of thinking it was a coincidence.

LITERAL JOKE!
These clowns called today saying they have my mom's application ready and calling to set up a moving date. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING!
Last week Friday (9/22/23), they said her application was denied, so my mom went with another apartment complex and we already have gotten everything signed and are just waiting for the move-in date to be here!
The other folks were done with screening and stub approval within 2 business days!
Thank God she didn't get approved here, that was a blessing in disguise!
Guess you guys didn't hit your monthly quota!

Desiree has helped me tremendously in the past with several issues I have had. She has been very helpful and I really appreciate her!

I love how much they care for my kids. I love the new staff. I love the fact that we have a resident event at least once a week
