Lavaca Street Bar - South Lamar, Austin TX

So after the Sugar Bowl, I paid cash for my tab. (I wasn’t leaving yet I only paid my tab just in case) tall bald white guy comes up to me shows me my tab and asks if I paid it already, I mention to him I did and he continues to ask if I was going to leave a tip. My tab was 60bucks. What kind of employee asks for a tip? I want leaving yet. But hey if they need the money, I gave him 15 bucks maybe he can make ends meet with that… I think that’s unprofessional going up to a customer ASKING for money. Bad example of a employee.

I’m not a sports bar guy, but it doesn’t matter. All I need is a nice patio to smoke on, a cool view, good food @thunderchief, and an always caring staff. Not to mention a chill patronage. This place has a good vibe, with no judgment, and that’s why I always come here. It’s a true neighborhood bar.

Great for TVs but food is not that good and all the draft beer is off tasting. I don’t think they clean their beer lines properly

Absolutely unprofessional place. If you expect service, this ain't the place. No one checked on us. The staff was more involved walking around and petting dogs and speaking with regulars. A shame that Thunder Chief is here. Food was good and had $1 wings Wednesday.

Myself and 2 friends opened 3 tabs. My friend was drinking shiners for a couple hours and had 6 throughout the whole time we were at the bar. He was the only one drinking shiners. We looked at the receipts, and they charged us for 15 shiners across the 3 tabs. All of the other drinks the 2 of us ordered were charged as well. I talked about this with the bar manager, but they didn’t want to admit the mistake or scam from their employee. I don’t want to blame the whole establishment, but whoever was serving us/ managed the tabs absolutely scammed us.

This place is great…. If you’re white. The staff would ask every other person in the room/bar if they were ok or if they needed something, but casually skip me and my partner who are Latino.

I would go up to the bar and I was the only person who would get charged first before getting their drinks. Every other customer, all white, would order and get their drinks, and then get charged.

Racism is still alive and well at Lavaca South Lamar. Oh and the red headed bartender girl was a new level of unprofessionalism. Everything from putting dogs on the bar counter to kiss them, to eating behind the bar, to texting…she has to go.
