Just called with pricing questions and received terrible attitude from the receptionist. The unwillingness to help was astounding.

Dr Mier is always interested every time in giving the best care to my pet and also is always able to listen to your concerns and give u answers. He takes his time examining your pet.

Needs works on hospitality and being helpful in the phones. The young woman I spoke with didn’t seem too thrilled or engaged with me as a caller/customer. Final word was “thank you so much ma’am and have a good day” and she said “mhm” smh as if I was being rude to her or something?

The best. Been going here for 20 years. Saved my first cats life. They alaays put the animals wellbeing first my cat had to be on a perscription diet (they used to sell the cans individually and one they didnt have singles and i didnt have enough for a bulk package. They went ahead and gave it to me so my cat would be ok. They dont recommend stuff you dont need. I hope this plays stays in the family and that the next generation handles things the same way. The vet there is a good man and an honest one. Everyone i have recommended this place to has had a stellar experience. Avoid the vca they are a trash vet leon valley vet is the best vet i have ever been to

Called today and the person who answered was rude, did not want to give their name so I called again and the second person was just as rude. Would not recommend taking my dog somewhere like that.

You can clearly tell the doctor has many years of experience by how well he interacts with reactive dogs!

Our first time using this facility due to the closing of our vet. We are extremely happy with the service and staff. I believe we have found a new vet home for our furbabies.

Just dropped off 4 Ibs Yorkie for spayed. Initial quote 3 days ago was between $300-$350. I show with a perfectly healthy 7 mo.old and my new quote is now between $581-$1149. The doctor grabs the dog and she jumps out of his hand in the air and almost got injured because he was not careful. I do not understand why vets talk to people like they are uneducated, this one seemed very arrogant. The staff are no better, the receptionist at the front is very unprofessional, when confronted about their false prices, she kept saying "its because she is in heat" or "because of the dental extracts". I had the bill print out in front of me the entire time, like I cant read a bill. The old nickel and dime approach, acting like every charge is emergent. These self-righteous people sleep good at night because they believe they help dogs and cats live their best lives. All false advertising and greed does is further the decay and mistrust in vets and their staff. I will continue to find and support vets/organizations that charge a fair and honest price, but I will not come back here.

If post procedure is as bad as my pre-op appointment I will modify this. As of now, there is no way the star can go lower and there is nothing they can do to improve the rating.
POST PROCEDURE:
My poor yorkie, she made it through the procedure. Leon Valley did a great job! Character matters, the provider and his wife called me on the phone concerned about my review. They listened, owned what they could, and what they couldn't they owned. Leadership starts with the leader owning both their shortcomings as well as those they lead. He did that, and made a "ticked off" customer a fan. I always feel bad when I complain, but processes only improve with a bit of pain. I can admit I may have been harsh in my initial impression, I apologize for that. Glad they took the time to let me get to know them a bit. They are real Americans, preparing their children to become a marine, sailor, and veterinarian. Thanks again, see you next time!

Amazing place. The vet really cares about animals. My dog had a hook stuck in her leg and the vet was able to see us right before they closed. Amazing doctor, thank you so much for what you do. I will never be able to thank you enough for helping my dog.

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Meier since moving to San Antonio in 2015. I have always had a wonderful experience with Leon Valley Animal Hospital. When I lost my dog, Ingram this past July due to hip dysplasia, I was distraught. I honestly was at a loss on how to proceed. Dr. Meier spent at least 30 minutes processing everything with me. He really goes out of his way to take care of his furry patients, and their pet parents. I’m forever thankful for Dr. Meier and his staff.

This is a doctor that really cares about animals and doesn’t try to rake you over the coal. Highly highly recommend this place.

Staff is very friendly and gentle with pets they seem knowledgeable and quite fair prices. I felt Safe having them care for my cat without putting a strain on my finances. They did my cat sushi’s check up blood work and gave him some medications and referred an otc medicine as well. The vet did not rush my pet to get scans or any unnecessary procedures wanted to wait and make sure symptoms cleared which they did, very thankful

Very professional staff. I felt that they cared about our furbabys health right at the get go. The Dr.was very courteous and knowledgeable. He explained the diagnosis and was very helpful.

Local family vet for us and our big dog Grover. Only a four because of extortion like pricing for his allergy meds, I mean $100 for a month? They are filling the bottles in back room

I was able to get a same day emergency appointment for my cat. Dr. Meier is very gentle and excellent at explaining things.
