Leona Park, Temple TX

Water is, as of 10/09/2022 is incredibly low, and full of silt. Great place to fish on days of deeper water. However, a lot of people who hate public areas leave a TON of trash around. I wish these people would stay home or clean up after themselves. Meet some great people out here too.

Nice clean boat ramp right where the Leon river meets with the creeks and lake with plenty of areas to fish on the shore as well, if you get under the bridge you can be in the shade all day!

Open 24 hours, also has some great views and night fishing. Alittle rocky though

Went to see the view of the moon after dark. Was picture perfect and I was able to get that picture on night vision.

There's a boat ramp and truck w/ trailer parking, but no apparent camping sites. It was a cold and rainy day when I visited, so the park was deserted.

This campsite is just awesome. Absolutely wonderful, the Hosts are very friendly, they keep it peaceful. The wife and I go there regularly, always look forward to it.

Leona Park is a pretty nice spot if you're looking to go fishing from the bank or from a boat. Boat ramp is in good shape and not super steep. Bank is easily accessible underneathand and on both sides of the bridge for a long way. It doesn't get deeper than about 21' around there and there is a lot of fishing pressure that makes catching anything big pretty difficult. Fortunately you can usually get some good sized shad in the cast net if you time it right. I like this place, just wish it didn't take me almost an hour to get there.

Fairly dirty due to fishers and party goers leaving their trash behind. Sad how people treat our water.

The park is usually coated in trash, fish parts, and sometimes, animal bodies. This place used to be a good place to get bait, but people have trashed it to the point that its cleaner and safer to go elsewhere. Don't recommend.
