Lohman Gunsmithing reviews
20We have limited gunsmithing services in Abilene, TX with long lead times. I just needed a rear sight put on a 1911 that required some fitting. They knocked it out in 24 hours for a very reasonable amount.
Service was done on time as they said, pin and weld turned out great! Going to recommend them whenever i get the chance for family and friends!
Stated I was taking lessons and needed my gun cleaned. Fast service but paid TOO much. I think she "Saw Me Coming" if you know what I mean. Quoted cash price or credit card price. Won't go back
Where should I start? I brought a glock 43x in to get the slide milled for a red dot. Took about 2 weeks longer than expected to get it back. After calling them the 3rd time they finally told me it was done and I can pick it up. When I got it it seemed fine, but after a few range trips I noticed a screw had backed itself out. After I took the red dot off I noticed they placed it about a quarter inch to far forward and plugged into my striker safety plunger area. Upon further inspection I also notcied they used screws that were about an 1/8 too short, this causer the side that lost a screw to shear one of the machined posts off. I went here bc I wanted to support a local business, but I suggest you go elsewhere for machine work if you can. The fact that they would let a customers EDC go out like this is inexcusable in my eyes. I'm just glad I caught the issue before it costed me my life
Good gunsmith, quality work. They’re not cheap but like the saying goes: You can have good or you can have cheap but you can’t have both.
I would like to say that lohman gunsmithing, Has a new employee he is a Master Gunsmith his name is Vince, I had explained to him that I have seven grandsons and I want special rifles built for each of them, he built me two 10/22's both Ruger's, one is a takedown 1022, With a tactical solutions Fluted and threaded barrel, with a tactical solutions receiver rebuilt the new receiver with special springs and rubber buffers, and Mounted with a Vortex scope! The other rifle is a 10/22 ruger with a Tacsol receiver and put better springs and rubber buffers as well, This one is a full stock with a fluted and Threaded barrel as well, With a Leopold scope both are magnificent rifles and I know that they will last my grandsons and probably their grandsons a very long time without any problems! He also fixed my very old western field single shot 12 gauge shotgun with two brand new clips that I cannot find anywhere, But Vince found them! Also replaced some screws, Now it's ready to be passed down, So I highly recommend Lohman Gunsmithing and tell them you want to see Vince!
Disappointed. Brought in shotgun that wasn’t ejecting properly and paid the diagnostic fee. After 6 weeks and multiple reasons why they had not worked on it they advised it was diagnosed and “was not ejecting” properly. Gun was brand new. They suggested I take it to a gun show and sell it. Brought it home, broke it down, oiled it up, manually cycled a few times, then brought to range. Shoots and ejects great now. Wasted $100+.
Read your reply. Thanks for replying. A couple of items I do not agree with. I don't.remember being asked to bring in the light loads. Attached are photos of them. After I dissembled and re-assembled, lubed, etc. Shot these all day, no issues.
Second thing. I did not call to say re-assemble and I'll pick it up. I just stopped by to pick it up. It was already re-assembled. Anyway, I learned a few things, so no big deal.
This place is hands down the best shop I have ever been to and I’m from a completely different state. The quality is in matched and the value they bring to the table is unlike any other. Thank you for everything
Great customer service. Jeremiah, Calvin and Amber were knowledgeable and helpful. They do very clean work and get you in and out. Highly recommend.
We were extremely satisfied with Amber’s communication and the knowledgeable skill of the gunsmith, that worked on two of our rifles.
I was welcomed in by Calvin. The guy was very friendly and knowledgeable and educated me more on my new rifle. The guy was very straightforward and honest with me. I was recommended to see these people by a friend of mine that I trust and I would recommend if you need to have your firearm looked at to go see these guys.
Me and my husband thought we had a big issue with one of our firearms. Found out about Jeremiah and came to see him. It was already losing time and he still helped us out. Let’s just say, I will never go to another Gunsmith besides him. If I could give him 10 stars. I would! Thank you! See you soon.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I actually spoke with the owner and Jeremiah. Brought in my new Walther PDP to install night sights, work was completed in under 20 minutes and 100% professional. Would highly recommend their services.
Very knowledgeable group here. Had my M70 cerakoted and was extremely impressed with the work Jeremiah performed. Will be bringing in the rest of my lot to have them cerakoted as well. #Kalashmas2021
Customer service and turn-around time were excellent! Took my lever action in for barrel threading and was very impressed with the gunsmithing.
Just picked up a couple items. Had a scope mounted on a Browning high wall and they did great. Also had a weatherby o/u barrel cerakoted for duck season and it look perfect. Fair pricing, friendly service, quick turnaround and quality craftsmanship. What more could you want?
I was just charged 70$ to put a gun back together and to be honest I wasn’t planning on spending that much and I heard y’all were reasonable on price 70$ for putting a gun back together doesn’t seem very affordable but maybe I just don’t know how much work goes into it but just my opinion
I messed up my gun when reassembling my gun after cleaning. I could clear the issue. I took it to Lohman's Gunsmiths. They took my gun back to take a look at it. Brought it back in a few minutes fixed. I was very satisfied, great service.
Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. Work was done within the prescribed time they said it would be. Work was excellent. I spoke at length with Mr. Lohman when retrieving my barrel and could not have been a nicer man. I highly recommend them.
Over Priced and Inconsistent Quality
Had a simple task for them to complete. Any gunsmith could do.
When I got the gun back it looked like something I did in my garage. When I complained I got the "We'll make it right " response. When I go the gun back the second time it looked no better that what your average Carters Country gunsmith could do. Not to mention it took about 4 months to get the whole process done.
They are slow. Their quality is inconsistent. They are ridiculously over priced.
